In this episode you will see our journey of Ratnagiri city, we visited sea beach of Ratnagiri, visited fort, palace and many other sightseeing places in Ratnagiri.
This was the 9th day of our Konkan tour, this video was shot on 25 September , Following are the places visited by us as part of 9th episode of Konkan tour,
We stayed at Seafan Ratnagiri premium category room - Rs 5000 double occupancy including breakfast. Located near Mandavi Beach Walkway.
We started our day by visiting the Mandavi Beach Walkway. The view was amazing.
Gandhi Misal Shop , We had breakfast at Gandhi missal, price Rs 50 per missal.

Birthplace of Freedom Fighter Lok Manya Tilakji - We visited the ancestral house of Tilak ji who was the first leader of the Indian independence movement. Tilak ji was known for his writings, many people got inspired with his writing. You will get to see many photographs related to his life.
Patit pawan mandir - It was built in 1931, Apart from temple there is also a museum dedicated to Veer Savarkar ji, you can see pictures & can read about Savarkar ji.
Ratnadurg fort - It is located on the mountain, we visited a temple, dedicated to Maa Bhagwati inside the fort. . You will get a beautiful view of the Arabian sea from the fort. This fort is believed to be constructed in the 12th century.
After 1 km from the fort, we visited the Lighthouse.
Konkani food at Konkani Angan, Surmai Fish Curry - Rs 200 per plate, Fansachi (Kathal) Bhaji - Rs 120 per plate, Olya Kaju Gar chi Usal (Kaju Usal) - Rs 130 per plate, Kadave Vaal - Rs 110 per plate, Pomfret Fry - Rs 220, Solkadhi - Rs 25 per glass.
Thiba Palace - This palace was closed it wasn’t open after the Covid outbreak, the architecture of this palace is beautiful.
Bhatye Beach - 3 km from the Palace, at this beach I noticed many seashells.
Petroglyphs were discovered in Ratnagiri by a few local villagers & engineers, now it is under ASI. This is basically a shape is carved on the rock by the early age people.
We stayed at Ratna Prabha Palace - Rs 2000 double occupancy, this is about 5 km from Kasheli beach.

Mumbai bhi konkan ka part he. Wo bhi aisa hi tha. Agar aap mumbai ki beauty dekhana chahate he to visit aagri and pachkalshi and pathare prabhus gaavthan area and south bandstand wali jagah pe aaj bhi old cristian house he unhe dekhiye.

What an irony, Ratnagiri born king of India - Lokamanya Tilak was prisoned in Mandaley - Burma and Burmese King Thibauw was prisoned here in Ratnagiri.

Sir I remembered one incidence of our hostel in Mumbai in 1968.I was a local man of Mumbai so I was not staying in Hostel but I visited my friend there I met his brother who had come from Ajmer. He was more interested in visiting Bandra where all actors have their villas/Mahals. He asked me have you seen Rajesh Khanna n many more names he has taken but I had to cut a sorry figure. I told him I have not visited this area so far. So he started laughing n thought that "kaisa gawar aadami hun mai". Really we Mubaites were not crazy about actors. Anyway why I remembered this coz though from Dist Ratnagiri I've not seen many places in Ratnagiri as you have explored. That man was crazy for actors but I respect you that you are exploring my District which we call it as Mines of Ratnas (Great patriotic people are jewels only)a jewel n giri means mountain coz the total area has a hilly terrain. Thats d reason Britishers laid Rly track to hill stations like Matheran, Darjeeling, Shimla but they did not attempt in West Coast which is a hilly terrain n heavy monsoon almost for 4-5 months in a year n due to many over flooding rivers done by our Indian Railway Engineers under the leadership of Shri E Sreedharan sir. These videos are seen by lakhs of our countrymen n most of them they have heard of our Beautiful Konkan a remote West Coast strip. Our Tourism Dept has done so much of advertisement but your videos are going to attract not lakhs of countrymen but lot many locals like me too. Hats off to you sir !!

@26:30 Kadve and Pavte are 2 types of daals which are grown in Kokan in rice fields once rice season gets over in Oct/Nov. I think this daal crops replenish the soil for next rice planting. Kadva/Pavta season is from Dec-March.
So don't take the name in literal sense. The word for bitter in Marathi is kadu / कडू 🙂 .. thanks for visiting and showing our beautiful Kokan.. love from Dapoli

The ancient temple of Kanakaditya is located in Kasheli village, which is 18 kms. from Pavas. The idol of Suryanarayan you see here is 800 years old. The tamrapat or copperplates carved with text carry the written evidence that this temple is indeed ancient. As soon as you enter the premises of the temple you can experience the serene atmosphere. When you enter from the east you cannot miss the majestic ‘Sabhamandap’ or meeting square.

I have visited all these places n i live in kolhapur and trust me konkan is lot more beautiful than this.
I also have been at Konkani Aangan hotel. They serve good food but Mahalakshmi hotel serves best see food in Ratnagiri.
Harish ji outstanding regarding Veer Savarkji, Congress calls him traitor and they are in power in Maharashtra with Sena can’t call him Shiv not worthy, leave all this excellent episode as usual all the best Harish Ji

I am from ratnagiri, thanks for covering ratnagiri. Datta cafe/Gandhi misal is not place to visit. There are much better places than this.petroglyps is also new to me. I will definitely visit that place.
Can you suggest couple of good place to eat Misal Pav in Ratnagiri city? I tried Hotel Gopal, but didn't liked it.
@@GauravVichare to be very honest. There are very few places in ratnagiri which are famous for perticular thing like in pune Or mumbai. So just expect good coastal food from hotel amantran and masala kitchen.but for misal and other stuff, there is no common popular place.
@@GauravVichare hotel gopal is relatively good as compared to other hotel in every aspect. If you eat misal at some other places, you will start hating misal. Overall marketing or demand of perticular product is less in ratnagiri compared to other cities.even prices of many things in ratnagiri are higher than other cities.(this is I am talking about ratnagiri. Someone might get good things in chiplun).
@@risheekeshshinde4832 correct. Overall Misal Pav is not that famous in Konkan. Nashik is best place to eat misal pav. By the way I am from Rajapur, here most of the people eat cut Vada/Rassa Vada.
