    Very informative episode. I have a housui and I lost several fruits this year to something or two. I have been using neem to no avail. Wish I could post a picture, maybe you would know. Anyway thanks for the info on the rust.

    I gave away two of my KSLS to people who deserved them and were thrilled to have them. The first is my neighbor who's 103 years old mom was my growing partner. She passed away right before you gifted me the seeds. I'm growing food on his property in honor of his mother. Another is an Āyí who owns a nail salon up the way from me. She grows hot peppers every year and makes some delicious hot sauce with them. She always gives me sauce when she is done making it. As soon as I stepped in her business he daughters and granddaughters started talking to me, and she came out fast to greet me. She was super happy to receive the plant. I kept my biggest one for me as a house plant so that I may have peppers year around. I also am in the process of germinating four seeds, and two of them are already sprouting roots. I have some scorpion seeds germinating but they are taking a bit longer than expected. You can see the roots growing in the seed but they haven't broken out yet. If they don't grow I won't really care because my real focus this year is to grow KSLS and get it out to as many growers that are interested. I'd be interested in growing anything else you're willing to donate to me. Some of those peaches, maybe some of those KSCP. I just love hot peppers and the KSLS has really sparked my interest back into growing hot peppers for myself. I just want some tasty house plants!

    From the look of the leaves on your fruit trees Khang, your season is about a month ahead of here. Hopefully the snow from this past Sunday is the last of the snow for this winter season! -Bob...

      Yes, our season is well on its way. It's getting hot here but the rain and humidity is creating issues for my trees with diseases.

    Thanks for sharing. I missed my spray schedule too. Spring came too early. I was wondering what those red spots were. Now I know. They only show up on my pear and apple trees. Do you have fig, peach or mulberry trees?

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  Před 3 měsíci +1

      These rusts only happen to my pear and apples. My figs are fine

    can I graft fruit tree scions on to non-fruit bearing and unknown trees as rootstock? I have a mature tree with a good trunk but it just produces leaves. Thanks

    I have a Fuji apple tree also for 5 years but no flowers yet, maybe I'm pruning them wrong, any suggestions to get them bloom next year? Lastly, I'm growing it espalier formation.

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  Před 3 měsíci

      Did you grow from seed or was it a grafted tree? Fuji seems to be much slower bloomer than other varieties. Mine did the same thing and it finally bloomed after 3 years. I bought it grafted.

      I grew an Asian pear tree from seed. I planted it for shade, and I was surprised to get a good crop of fruit each year. Also, there are a couple of volunteer small trees growing a few feet away from it. At the same time, I planted a peach seed right next to it and I get good tasting peaches too.

      Mine were grafted trees. You can grow from seed, but it could take very long to fruit. The fruits may not be true to the fruit you ate due to cross pollination.
