i grew up on Davey and Goliath, claymation, before i ever even went to school, 3 channels
I always appreciated the uniqueness of that show and Gumby in its time. So much great viewing for children back then!!
What an education this show was for anyone who loves artists and their creations. Thank you.
Dirty jobs was the best show ever and it was educational too! I sure do miss that show!
So delighted to hear his description of seeing Mandy Patinkin in Sunday in the Park with George! I am forever grateful that the production was recorded for posterity! Into the Woods as well! We need more recordings to preserve the brilliance of Broadway!
Love this discussion
This was great - Allison double majored in Foreign Affairs and Drama and is forever a fan of musical theater so would have loved to bend the ear of Karey Kirkpatrick. She won the senior award for her hard work and knack for pulling things together at the last minute in production/direction. Proud good memories of that. Thanks!
We begin every Christmas with Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack right after Thanksgiving dinner. I am glad to know we are not the only ones who hold this album in high esteem.
Over the Hedge 😅❤So well said. The tool is only as good as the hand of the artist.
The world has lost her innocence .
Karey is one of those folks you just love for all the cool things he is and does. Thanks Mike! (and Chuck = snap diggidy dog - LOL)
That was an amazing conversation. Thanks Mike for being such a great host.
I loveeee chicken run….i ll watch it over n over..such great characters…
Love the importance of sharing Grandpas drink with a person who appreciates the heritage
That was very entertaining! As usual, THANKS Mike!
Great interview!
Thank you for sharing such a great discussion....truly enjoyed it.
America needs more Over the Hedge.
Wow, I loved the bit about Mike's mom! I'm in my 50s, so maybe there's still hope for me to achieve some of my dreams.
You had me here seeing you all double fist (water/coffee) and old fashioned then sign in back Work Ethic
Oh, my goodness! 5 seconds in and I knew the song! Years ago we were supposed to put on that play! We rehearsed so long and hard. Alas, the guy running it had some sort of personal meltdown/crisis and abruptly disappeared and it never happened. My one chance at Broadway stardom, squashed!
I played Lucy in “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and also sang Lucy’s part in “Book Report”
peanuts, mom had 78s and 45s from growing up, and one was Christmas Bells by the royal guardsman, originals, and how much is that doggy in the window, and in the jungle the lion sleeps tonight, and as a kid, I pulled out the portable record player, and played it over and over and over and over ☕
Whiskey, toast [clink] sip, Karey's reaction was: "Tastes like its been through someone..." Dang that dude's good! LOL He's successfully Season'd just like all the cream of the crop! Great interview Mike! Thanks!
I never knew I loved him before Something Rotten! Mind blown! 🤯🤯😱
7:00 Carey Kirkpatrick interview directs, writes but is also a teacher, too.
11:08 thinking that some film and animation fail because writing a good story is not easy.
19:14 Charlie Brown as a writer. 22:36 children learn from animations. Parables of modern day: adults maybe learn life skills when they watched with their children.
I loved learning about how the sausage is made. Thanks. 🦋👩🦰
Sam Fell, claymation editing, directed “chicken run” 3:30
I’m not a fan of Netflix, but I will subscribe just to watch Chicken Run II.
Six days to "air"? Either or. Awesome podcast.
Scariest thing in my life: I was workshopping a new play being written by an award-winning playwright, and I made what to me was an off-hand comment and overnight he re-wrote 20 pages! After he finished writing it we showed it to family and friends and I made another comment and the whole idea died! Did I do that? I don't know anything!
It's amazing how fragile an idea being born is.
the jungle book had exact copies from Christopher Robin, like the wolf and the bear...
Gary Burghoff, of M*A*S*H fame, got his big break in the Off-Broadway production of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
I adore M*A*S*H!
A couple of thoughts; First time I have not seen a bottle of whiskey behind Mike...and I have seen glasses of whiskey on the table. And this is the second episode in a row that I have noticed the guest microphone/s fading in and out.
What a wonderful interview. (Can anyone tell me the name of the music Mr. Kirkpatrick listens to at Christmas, I missed the timestamp.)
Vince Guaraldi Trio "A Charlie Brown Christmas (Original Soundtrack)." Beautiful.
Good morning everyone and I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend
