- This week, Josh and Daniel Danger put the "nerd" in "pedal nerd" by LARPing their favorite Electro-Harmonix pedal build. No, we're not making this up. Yes, they've somehow managed to out-nerd themselves.

Yes! Please do whatever it takes to get an EHX/JHS collaboration done!
“The battle of the acronyms”
JHX pedals series = Jealo(usly)-harmonix.
Always when talking about octave pedals, I wish there would be a switch to choose octave up - octave off - octave down. Or control knob; 0 = octave off, 0-12 o'clock octave up, 12-full octave down.
@@Kurjistaja what you’re looking for is the EHX pog
Why? Josh doesn't collaborate. Josh steals ideas from other companies and "faithfully recreates" them.
I think I would rather have one of everything from both of them. Infinite signal train combinations. Better than Bits & Bites.
I would love a lizard queen octave fuzz. This episode was hilarious.
Yeah dude, this would sell- don’t limit the run. Make it as affordable, available and accessible as possible. This would be great
They would have to make it SMD to be able to keep costs down but in true JHS fashion charge 47 times as much the cost to make it. The whole point of SMD circuits was to keep costs down and then get more complicated circuits in the same amount of space, not charge $400 for a $0.57 circuit
@@patrickbutcherine142 Here's a guy who has never built and marketed a product.
They did the best of both worlds yesterday!
@@patrickbutcherine142
It's not just the cost of the material. Obviously it takes a lot of R&D, = time. Machinery and staff also have to be paid, rent for production space and so on and so forth. It think you're way off target.
And besides they also make a $99 version, so simmer down, man ;-)
Ye gods, you guys have outdone yourselves yet again. Pedal history, typography, D&D-so many glorious nerdy touchstones in this. Thank you, that was massively entertaining. Yes, I would buy a Lizard Queen.
Also, I’ve decided that “three knobs and a switch” is the “three chords and the truth” of pedal design. Nobody really needs anything more than that.
fuck yeah. let ehx do an unlimited run so everybody can be happy.
Jhs puts out the original then they put out the reissue in their fun rounded style
This is the only way. If the run is limited, the pedals will get scalped and sold for 10 times the price, just like the Boss Tone Bender.
AND PLEASE INCLUDE A WOODEN BOX!

If this was for sale tomorrow, I’d buy this tomorrow. This should be a full production pedal
If the Lizard Queen ever hits the market, you already have one sold right here! 👍 🙏

Growing up, my father used to watch "This Old House" on the weekends. Now on the weekends I watch JHS build old pedals.
Make it happen captain. The world needs their JHX Lizard Queen!
Dude JHX
Nailed it
If this was NOT able to be made, I’d love to see the schematic and make one at home. Sounds great!

I can't speak for everyone, but part of the reason I always look forward to watching The JHS Show is because I enjoy nerdy deep dives into pedal history and most of all because I enjoy listening and learning from people who are clearly so knowledgeable about their interests. The entire section on the design of the pedal was absolutely fascinating - I learned so much, and it was almost frustrating knowing Daniel could have gone on for hours about just the history of screenprinting effects pedals and I'll never get that sweet brain bug nectar.
I know it'd be an outlier episode, but I'd really enjoy some content about the design of JHS Pedals, the story of the designs behind some of your designers favourite pedal aesthetics and so on.
This is one of my new favorite gear videos. I'm an industrial designer (toy industry) and graphic designer and part of what I have always loved about collecting synthesizers and effects pedals is the form factor and graphics, but NO ONE ever talks about the design elements. The fact that you even demonstrate how to use Letraset is amazing. When I was in design school we had a closet with thousands of sheets of that stuff with fonts, icons and lines to use on our projects.
Love this video and really want to buy a Lizard Queen pedal!
EHX would be absolutely out of their burgers to not make this pedal with Josh and Daniel.
Mike has to let you guys do this for sure.
“900 days in a studio and all we got was St. Anger.” …. That’s a shirt if there ever was one.
Would be an instant purchase - and Danger's breakdown of Some Kind of Monster was laugh out loud hilarious.
My shamelessly nerdy D&D childhood absolutely LOVES every freaking thing about this awesomely nerd-tacular ridiculousness.
Bravo!
I can say without a shadow of doubt in my mind I would buy the Lizard Queen. That thick sound is something I have been longing for in my rig.
The Lizard Queen is awesome. Do it, Electro-Harmonix! DO EEEET
Do it yourself, man this is the message.
I would love to have one!
Then I can’t help but think that it would be amazing to have a modern Lizard Queen “mini” as well for pedal board space 🦎 👸 ❤️
Oh man, that pedal is just fantastic! Lizard Queen, I would love one.
I would 1000% buy a lizard queen if you made a limited run, super rad!!
I think pedal collabs should be a bigger thing as a whole. You pedal builders seem like such a kind, tight knit community that is open to the sharing of knowledge, so why not collab more often? The Angry Driver was a hit, this could be too!
Yeah... considering JHS did a collaboration with BOSS, EHX would be fools if they didn't go with this.
When collaboration does happen, it usually makes for great pedals too. Chase Bliss + Drolo + a bunch of other people made the MOOD and its one of the best new pedals out there. The EQD and DBA collab is super good too
Great episode! I could watch Daniel explain fonts for hours. His knowledge and pride is infectious!
Even if you don't get a Collab, sell it under your own branding. An octave fuzz with an octave knob sounds really useful.
I am 100% immersed in this style of storytelling. You guys rolled a nat 20 on this concept. Give me more!
The start of this video reminds me of that movie Zero Charisma lol
🖤🖤🖤
That intro is a masterpiece. Thank you.
Just got to watch this episode. OMG! This is spot on THE SOUND I think of when I envision an octave fuzz. This doesn't need to happen, this should have happened. Sign me up for a time traveler's mission! Also, I'd take at least 2. Great work!
I would 100% buy this pedal! Its literally the octa-fuzz of my dreams haha
Holy cow… I’d be lined up to buy one of these. EHX (JHX?) make it happen!!! Great story, and loved watching all of the process unfold!
Oh i adore the mashup name JHX. That would make it truly a perfect pair.
Jhx
This is a ridiculously cool concept, and amazingly well done on the printing and the circuit
Great name! When I was a kid, I had a friend who used to riff on the Doors/Jim Morrison and shout out “I am the Lizard Queen! I dress in velveteen!” I think the sound is perfect.
Brings back memories, this does. The camera your art was ready for contained lithographic film with 100% contrast, no greyscale. IIRC, four-color printing was three colors, (yellow, cyan, magenta) plus litho black.
I would not LIKE to see this happen. I would EXPECT this to happen. Those giant boxes and amazing fonts made the pedals sound better. If anyone could bring this to life, it's JHS. After that, please bring back Atari games.
and retro/boxy-looking cars!
This is funnily very true. I have a vintage green muff. I don't have it on my board for practical reasons, but man, when you see this box, when you feel the weight, you have a feeling that the sound is as enormous as the box.
The artwork in this episode is unreal. Love it.

I cannot express how much I want an EHX/JHS collaboration to be a thing.
welp
there you go
This video captured magic from the opening scene to the screen printing, the circuit with the amazing center and right side knobs, and the hot take on some kind of monster. Great interview questions too really set everything up for the home run it was.
only a minute in and this is the best thing I've seen in forever! lol
I'd love to see this realized as an "actual" pedal. Would buy day one.
Had to go back and watch this and see how it all started. Congratulations guys on making such a a kick ass pedal!
Amazing episode. As a graphic designer cutting my teeth in the early 90s, it was so nostalgic to see the handmade graphics and screenprinting techniques employed on this project as well as your creative approach. And as a guitar player; who doesn’t love fuzz? I’d buy one!
Yes. Make this. We will buy it. Also, Daniel is fantastic-please feature him more often. What a great presence.
awwshucks
Totally agree, he compliments Josh beautifully too
I love watching JHS videos but as a graphic designer this is the most exciting video you've ever made. And with my favorite illustrator too! Thanks for making this!
petition JHS to release the cut where the font-to-pedal scene is 45 minutes
@@DanielDangerTME How about a feature length documentary? 😍
@@iamroberty I'll have to talk slower to reach feature length
This is awesome! Hope this comes to fruition!
I just bought the pedal based on seeing it as EHX launched the collab - the controls, layout etc- had no idea of this story itself. My first comment to a friend was sounds like a super fuzz but reinvented in the 70's. So cool to now find this vid as it seems more less spot on. I haven't yet integrated with my proper rig but at home sounds amazing. Just what I've been chasing all my life - full fuzz with a dial in octave and that optional gate/velcro feel. Thank you for making me this pedal!
I would absolutely buy this pedal. Would be great if you called it the lounge lizard queen and if you called the octave "the sauce" lol
What a fantastic / informative show. An EHX / JHS collaboration would be amazing and I think the only issue would be how quickly you sell out of the pedals
Full transparency... I've never related to a video in its entirety more. From the D&D to the blistering Tone at the end.
My inner Gear/D&D Nerd needs to purchase this to support this perfect Venn Diagram of Nerdiness presently and in the future.
Yes please! The sound, look and story of how it came to be is great. I don’t usually care to do limited runs, but would definitely get in line for this.
I would absolutely buy this. Beautiful work guys! I’m obsessed with octave fuzz and was literally just thinking yesterday how weird it was that EHX never really made a proper octave fuzz.
I was thinking the same thing.....in 1974. L O L
I can’t help but wonder if the Deluxe Octave Multiplexer was a functional equivalent?
The octavix lol
@@ThruThaRoofComedy that’s a modern pedal. How they made it through the late 60s and 70s without a proper Octave Fuzz is rather… puzzling.
the Octavix Is EHX's version of the classic Octavia. Plus, they added a 9 to 24 volt switch and made it true Bypass. Its been my favorite Octave Fuzz for years. That Pedal Show did a blindfold shootout a while back and I think it came out first place !
FANTASTIC show. One of the best you've ever done. And, hell yeah, I'd buy a Lizard Queen... if you know what I mean.
I’ve seen it, I’ve heard it, now I WANT it!
Awesome to see this old prossess in action! ❤️
Great work guys, love the thought process, this is really awesome ! Make it happen !
Very cool. I'm not even really a fuzz guy, but I'd buy one of those. That sounds great!!!
VERY happy to see Daniel Danger back! This was incredibly informative about the pedal making process, and I love learning about manufacturing in a pre-PC world.
Thanks for the vids. They have inspired & guided me to make, mod, & repair my own. I would like one of those EL's. Enjoyed seeing the whole process.
My favorite episode of the JHS show thus far! This is amazing, and yes. Would 100% buy the Lizard Queen. Make it happen EHX!
This is fucking hilarious. What a great setup! Your writers deserve a raise.
I spent a large part of the video looking at the shelves filled with pedals behind it ,it's a dream
I can’t believe this went into production! It’s pretty incredible
Brilliant episode, whoever came up with this idea hit a MF home run.
I would definitely be interested in a Lizard Queen. Do an EHX-inspired flanger next!
Epic. All episodes done with Daniel Danger have been a true gift and joy to watch. The new fuzz sounds awesome. Even if Ehx doesnt go for it, you should do it under JHS.
@Josh look at the new KMA Chief d
Disruptor fuzz...its features are soo smart. Please make a fuzz line with same/ or even more options. Tone tailoring Fuzz into the future.
I was born in 1974, Ive played my 1974 jazzmaster forever. I'm going to need one of these.
This has been one of the very best JHS shows I've seen in years. Thank you so much. And pleeeaaasse put these into production. I want to see it and I want one for myself - the cut-through on the bass was brilliant (something you don't get with the Muff). But where was Addison???!!!
We kicked him out after he broke up our F&F game
I would buy one if it wasn't insanely priced. The Holy Grail Plus with the Flerb is still one of my favorite reverb pedals.
The concept, the design and the fabulous tone are already here.
Please make it work guys, I’m absolutely thrilled to play it!
this is awesome. congrats, glad to see that a year later they are now available. that pedal sounded amazing and looks so spot on EHX cool stylings.
Such a cool insightful episode.
How will we know if the Lizard Queen is a go?! I’d be so down to get one.
That red box Big Muff in the background was almost mine, he bought it before I had my questions answered by the seller 😡
@@pjladd04 at least find some comfort in knowing its in a very very very good and loving home.

OMG I have been a graphic designer since the 70-80’s. I remember all the work that went into a design, letraset, peel coats, photography sessions, markers, etc. Then came Macs and Adobe and the rest is history. Designers today have no idea 😂😂
I loved the raw originality of ehx, morley and others. No more originality today, everything has been done 🤘🤘
So cool!!
We DEFINITELY need the Lizard Queen. It sounded amazing! If a collab with EHX doesn't work out, please consider making it a JHS pedal.
Thought the Lizard Queen sounded great! Good luck with production. I've built a few pedals for myself, and always enjoyed quirky labeling. Such as the in and out jacks labeled 'Come In' and 'Go Away'. I built a buffer pedal for a piezo pickup labeled 'Pie Buffer' with a knob that went from 'Dull' to 'Shiny'. Fun stuff.
Love the Hero's Quest screen
I’m down for a JHS/EHX collaboration. Let’s make it happen! The pedal sounded amazing.
Josh! That was one of the most inspired solos I've heard you do! Kudos!
That was such a great episode. Would totally love Lizard Queen to happen!
This is super cool! I really like the idea of developing a pedal like you were back in 1974. Thanks for sharing all those details! The desing turned out awesome. The sound is cool to. I‘d totally buy one of these!
I was in NYC during the 70’s and purchased many EH pedals(big ones that plugged into the wall) This brings me back. I’d buy one in a second!
Rewatching this as I'm unboxing my new EHX Lizard Queen. So unreal that it actually happened, I'm so excited to actually play this thing.
I went to art college from 1984-1987. This graphics demo was a total flashback for me. ❤
Having been hatched in 1972, I remember playing with those rub-on transfer letters as a kid. There used to be superhero and cartoon themed books of backgrounds that came with the characters and props on a rub-on transfer sheet, so you could build your own scenes. And all the good t-shirt designs were screen-printed (much better than the iron-on designs).
I'm starting to think this video should come with a "flashback" warning...
I like the lettering, and I like the octave blend knob.
I'm too cheap to buy nice pedals like that, but I think other folks would buy it. It sounds and looks really good.
I have the Big Muff Ram's Head and I've been searching for an octave fuzz that has THAT sound. This really is the pedal of my dreams.
omg what a great show!! That playing was sublime! now i see why josh was so excited to do this and yes I would love to see these pedals live, and a hard cardboard pedal board to save the environment cause its gonna have to be big.
i too have a +48 in aspergers
That pedal sounds great and I will always have a soft spot for EHX pedals in the classic, giant enclosures. I would enjoy having a Lizard Queen on my board. I have wanted to try out an octave fuzz for a little while now.
Do it! This would be awesome. I can feel this one coming to light
I ABSOLUTELY would LOVE one of these with EHX 'S blessing!
Not only should you do a run of the Lizard Queen, I would totally be interested in a Fuzz and Fantasies home game complete with quests and mini-figs.
Absolutely 100% would buy this! This is so cool.
This pedal sounds amazing, Please make it happen Josh and co!
I would love to see this realized!
Love the whole concept of how you approached this, as well as the actual result. And I actually also really liked what I heard when you demonstrated this. Sounded great on both bass and guitar.
Absolutely, you should try to get EHX involved with getting this pedal out. It deserves it!
Hell yeah! I don't have any massive pedals on the board currently - I'd happily find a spot for this bad boy!
Yes. Make the JHS/Electro Harmonix collaboration happen!
Yeah, I'll bite. I loved this and I was ready to buy one almost immediately once the project was revealed.
I love the sound of this---I am going to get one WHEN it comes out
Beautiful job guys - I'm all in on the Lizard Queen.
We need another episode with more jams on this pedal! This is awesome, such a cool idea. I would definitely buy one of these. It would even look cool in the new Little Big Muff-style enclosure.
Would love to see this available and more collabs like this!
I would preorder that Pedal right away. This is an absolutely great idea and I hope you can make it happen 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Absolutely would love to see the Lizard Queen become a reality!
