When Saf talks about Crusty, it reads on her face very honestly. When Tyler said,"are you okay saf" I felt that in my soul. You guys stay strong! Crusty will be okay no matter what happens. You guys just hang on.
I love how much you care for Crusty. My favorite part was Tyler saying he made sure the hospital knows he loves getting his chin scratched. 😊 As someone who worked in vetmed for several years, it's so endearing and helpful to get those personal notes about patients.
Just commenting to support you both in your senior cat care. I know folks will throw good-intentioned ideas at you on how to care for him, or improve things... I hope you don't feel pressure from these people. Crusty has lived with you far longer than expected and that says loads about how well you have cared for him. Whenever it's time for him to leave you, I hope you can remember that when you need to. Care and support to you both 🐾❤️
To make a franken-cotton candy all you have to do is take one of each candy, put it in a ziplock, hit them with a hammer then mix up and pour into the machine. Also, you can take a wet paper towel to wipe the sides of the machine in order to keep making more. It has to touch the sides in order to make a “web” and with this size machine you only want to keep spinning the stick just near the spinning disc- other wise that’s how it made “yarn” strings and it also shrunk the cotton candy and was less fluffy because it was too close to the heat. I one time made 30 in an hour for a circus camp I ran using dum dum lollipops. I’m an occupational therapist and making cotton candy has been a fun activity to do with lots of kiddos- we’ve made some unique flavors as well!
Aw I’m really sorry to hear Crusty had to go to the hospital. Last week I had to have our 16 year old cat put down. It’s still tearing me up. I wish you the best 😔

Well at least that makes sense lol. I’m in the US and the stores skip Thanksgiving even though we definitely celebrate it lol. Like you can get some Thanksgiving decor, but it’s mostly all Halloween from the August to the end of October, then Christmas takes over. Except it’s creeping up too where this year I saw Halloween candy in July and Christmas had taken over before Halloween passed 😳

I first found out about Crusty when you travelled cross-country and was amazed how well he did. Since then, I've enjoyed all your Crusty references and anecdotes. I think (I could be mistaken), that you began caring for Crusty when he was already an eldercat? Is that correct? In any case, it is obvious that you love, respect, and take tremendous care of him. Sending love to Crusty and you guys! My dog passed a couple of months ago and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through. I’m not saying Crusty is going anywhere any time soon of course! In fact, I’m pretty sure he’s immortal, but caring for an older animal is a challenge and watching them get visibly older and slower can be really tough ❤️ You guys are doing great ❤️

I'm guessing you're getting licorice in the Pho cotton candy because of the star anise that's in most pho broths (at least in Western restaurants. I can't speak to the authenticity). There's also, I think, cinnamon and other warm spices. The coriander/cilantro thing is that it's the same plant, but some places call the seed and the leaf by different names (I know in the US the seed is coriander and the leaf is cilantro, probably because of Latin American influence), while other places just call them both coriander (in the UK, e.g., it's 'coriander seed' and 'fresh coriander' or 'coriander leaf').
I absolutely ADORE all of Ty's Gilmore Girls references. I have watched GG probably 70 times or more all the way through and my husband keeps getting randomly subjected to it. As many episodes as he's seen (actively watched), he NEVER has a GG reference lol. Ty even has the oddball references haha.

Chat was going crazy with cilantro comments! For the three people who may be interested: in the US the leaves are called cilantro, the seeds coriander. In other countries, the leaves are called coriander, the seeds coriander seeds.

Doesn’t pho also have star anise in the broth? But yeah, I love Thai basil. I grew it this summer and it’s just so unique with that anise-like flavor. It’s not very common where I live, so a lot of restaurants substitute cilantro, mint, or Italian basil, but those are really no comparison. I like it so much, I even started adding it to teas lol
My heart goes out to you three! I just had a lengthy hospital stay with my cat and it’s so hard to watch them so little and helpless but they are stronger than you think, just stay positive if you can. And take time away from CZcams if you need to, take care of yourselves 💕
My mom’s kitten is recovering from pneumonia. It was so scary seeing her so sick. She’s definitely doing better now that she has the right diagnosis. She went from laying around without moving totally vacant eyes for almost a week, to being alert and bouncing around again after 24 hours of the correct medication. I’m sure it’s 10x as hard for them because Crusty is at the end of his journey, but I find caring for a sick pet really helps you appreciate how much the good times meant to you in even such a seemingly short amount of time our pets are with us
I've never seen cotton candy be made besides in movies, for me at fairs and other places that have cotton candy, it was already pre packaged in a bag, no machines, no cones, just a bag
Straight after watching this we went for a walk to the shops...a shop near our hotel is selling peanut butter and pickle icecream!! We might brave it tomorrow before we leave.
I agree the licorice flavor from the pho candy might have been star anise. Fun fact-flavor is mostly olfaction! Taste is only sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami. So you good smelling skills is an asset for flavor :)

I ate pho and it was basically like eating mint tea broth with noodles.. as for cilantro love it no soap here.

The licorice flavor in both pho and fresh spring rolls is not cilantro or mint. It is basil, Thai basil specifically.

Doesn’t pho also have star anise in the broth? But yeah, I love Thai basil. I grew it this summer and it’s just so unique with that anise-like flavor. It’s not very common where I live, so a lot of restaurants substitute cilantro, mint, or Italian basil, but those are really no comparison. I like it so much, I even started adding it to teas lol
My heart goes out to you three! I just had a lengthy hospital stay with my cat and it’s so hard to watch them so little and helpless but they are stronger than you think, just stay positive if you can. And take time away from CZcams if you need to, take care of yourselves 💕
My mom’s kitten is recovering from pneumonia. It was so scary seeing her so sick. She’s definitely doing better now that she has the right diagnosis. She went from laying around without moving totally vacant eyes for almost a week, to being alert and bouncing around again after 24 hours of the correct medication. I’m sure it’s 10x as hard for them because Crusty is at the end of his journey, but I find caring for a sick pet really helps you appreciate how much the good times meant to you in even such a seemingly short amount of time our pets are with us
I've never seen cotton candy be made besides in movies, for me at fairs and other places that have cotton candy, it was already pre packaged in a bag, no machines, no cones, just a bag
Straight after watching this we went for a walk to the shops...a shop near our hotel is selling peanut butter and pickle icecream!! We might brave it tomorrow before we leave.

I agree the licorice flavor from the pho candy might have been star anise. That would make sense if the candy makers just chose one signature flavor for each one that would be somewhat pleasant on their own; pickles=dill, mac and cheese=cheese. Now I wanna try star anise cotton candy! I’m ready for “grown-up” cotton candy flavors to become a thing lol. The most unique I’ve had is maple syrup, which was absolutely delicious, but I want to try spiced flavors
