Thank you for making this series. I just bought a can of old buttons at an estate sale and have some mirror back & shell buttons included. Thought I’d sell them but knew nothing about buttons other than they must have some value- as I used to sew. So thank you for the education!

Oooh, I just love buttons! A couple years ago, I bought a sealed vintage can filled with something, although at the time, I didn't know what. When I opened it, it was a tin chock full of old buttons. I spent hours sorting through them...was THIS a lot of fun! Still have 'em. Love them too much to part with (for now). Thanks for this great video!

I have some buttons from an auction lot, and they were in sandwich bags? I definitely felt sticky something AND smell what I'm now thinking is formaldehyde! Thank you for these videos. I'm hoping you can tell me more in the next videos or I'm going to have to email you. Anyway, thanks for the helpful content. I'm looking forward to the next videos in the series.
If your buttons are sticky because the formaldehyde leeched out you need to throw those away and wash your hands and any surfaces very thoroughly because formaldehyde is highly toxic AKA poisonous. thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it there are so many more videos to come. @@TheVelvetLoungeLife the ones that were sticky appear to be ones the woman tried to make herself? She glued rhinestones on plastic buttons? There are only 3 of those. There are 10 goldtone metal buttons with pink and white rhinestones (all but one missing some stones) and 3 heavier clunky buttons that were silvertone painted blue? Some paint is flaked off with darker blue rhinestones. I'm having a tough time finding any information on them. Thanks. I don't know what the odor is, but it is from the plastic base ones.

If you have Civil War, Revolutionary War buttons SOME of those if in awesome condition can bring a good price - especially if they are made from real gold. I have the same flower calico button with the gold in the center and on the edges! Do you have any ideas how old they are?
Calico buttons date from the 1920's to late 1940's.
