  • In this video Aidan Murray, Teagasc Beef Specialist and Doreen Corridan, Munster Bovine highlight the importance of being safe around a stock bull.
As we prepare to let stock bulls out for the upcoming breeding season it is important to note that there has been an number of farm related deaths caused by stock bulls in recent years.
Avoid being complacent around stock bulls - there's no such thing as a quiet stock bull as they can turn anytime. If you are going to herd stock remember to tell someone where you are going or alternatively bring your mobile phone in case you need assistance.
Always make sure that there's appropriate signage if you have a stock bull on your farm. When buying a stock bull try and purchase one that has been halter trained as it will be easier for you to handle and has an existing ring on his nose.
