    I love content but you could use 178 eld match bullet in 300 win mag and show it smoking that 6.5 cr in velocity, energy and drop as well as windage with a little more recoil. That 208 eld match is 50 plus gr heavier bullet. You can Put a 150 gr interbond in as bullet and it’s screaming at 3300 FPS velocity out of muzzle. I know a guy handloads 125 gr for 300 win mag screaming close 3800 uses for prairie antelope, coyotes and wolves out to 700 plus yards. Loading options make 300 win mag versatile just like it predecessor the 30-06. Both 6.5 cr and 300 win mag can hit target at 1000 yards but that 300 win mag will do it faster less drop and still have real knockdown power. If I had to buy one for everyday gun give 300 win mag every time. Love your twist on 5his though

      I choose the heavier bullet to match the Creedmoor B.C. Win mag is very versatile. Thanks for watching!

    Why skip over the energy, look at the difference between the two beyond 500 yards. The 300 WM starts kicking ass and 6.5 takes a back seat. The 6.5 is only 740 Ft.lbs and 1,543 FPS at 1000 yards, and the 300WM is 1,677 FPS and has 1,299 ft.lbs, no contest.

    If I can pick 1 gun let me see - the one I can get ammo for ! I have a great 300 wazm but no one sells ammo here its been back ordered for over 1 year that is why I am thinking of buying a rifle that fires the 6.5

    As an avid hunter I use both a .30 cal and 6.5. I enjoy hunting with my 6.5 much more than my .30 due to felt recoil. Regardless of the rifle I have a 400 yard limit for a shot taken on big game, and with either rifle I feel with a well placed kill shot, either will get the job done well. I would argue that some people use the theory that the bigger and faster the round the further they can take an animal at. While this is true on paper, if you can't dope a scope, adjust for wind, or get an accurate kill shot regardless of your round, you are either missing or having poor shot placement. One of the greatest tests of a hunter is the ability to know when you shouldn't take the shot and not pulling the trigger.

      I completely agree with you. I have a 300 Weatherby because I love magnums, not because I'm going to extend my range past 400 yards for hunting.

  • @ReloadingQuest

    This is interesting comparison. Why did u pick the 208gr bullet? Why not a bullet around the same weight? Like a 150gr in the 300win mag?

    • @ReloadingWeatherby
      @ReloadingWeatherby  Před 3 lety +4

      I always try comparing cartridges with similar B.C. Other channels will unfairly compare the same weight bullets to give the smaller caliber the advantage. They will put the best B.C. bullet for say a 6.5mm vs a stubby 150 grain in a 30-06. Do you see what I mean?

    • @ReloadingQuest
      @ReloadingQuest Před 3 lety +1

      @@ReloadingWeatherby yeah I do but a 150gr in a 300win mag way out performs 6.5 creedmoor. Flatter shooting coming on the muzzle way more and more velocity and harder hitting. Idk I am not a 6.5 creedmoor guy so I might be bias. Lol 😆 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@ReloadingWeatherby plus bc is great but 600 yards and in it’s pretty much pointless. The nock down power alone is more then enough to make up for lack of bc and when it comes to recoil it will depend gun and break or can and weight of gun. My 300 win had less recoil then ally 06 haha

    • @ReloadingWeatherby
      @ReloadingWeatherby  Před 3 lety +2

      I agree when it comes to hunting it's a no brainer to get a 300 Win mag over the 6.5 Creedmoor. And for hunters you will most likely use 180 grain bullet to hunt. But for long distance shooting to really take advantage of the power and a high B.C. bullet you have to go over 200 grains. As I said too many people compare the smaller caliber high B.C. bullet to the bigger bullet with terrible B.C. You can't do that to make it a fair comparison.

    Everyone is entitled to their "one rifle" choice, I wouldn't choose a 6.5, but if I had to choose either the 6.5 or the 300, I'd have to choose the 300. I think you a more fun debate is which three rifles would you have? I usually name 6, however if only three - .22, 7-08 and 7mm Rem Mag, on the assumption I am never going near dangerous game territory, if dangerous game are in the picture 300 win mag bumps the 7 RM.

    • @ReloadingWeatherby

    Two different cartridges, two different ranges of performance, two different shooting outcomes. It's not an "either or" discussion. For me, it is more a "which one or both" question, since I own both.

    • @ReloadingWeatherby
      @ReloadingWeatherby  Před 3 lety +2

    208 grain win mag bullet

      It's a similar b.c. Not really fair to compare a high b.c. 6.5 bullet like the 140 grain to a stumpy 150 gr 30 caliber bullet
