- Learn how to fly the D77-TC Pelican from Halo. We'll cover using hover mode, cruise mode, auto-pilot, getting to the edge of space, and even how to tune into VORs. The Pelican is available for free in the MSFS Marketplace for both PC and Xbox.
Check out this mod (for PC users) to enable the Pelican to reach space without using slew mode: flightsim.to/file/35251/pelic...

I am not a flight instructor and this video is not to be used as a resource for real-world flight training. It's only intended as a tutorial for casual use in flight simulators such as Microsoft Flight Simulator.
#msfs #microsoftflightsimulator #flightsimulator - Hry
It’s also the best for sightseeing around the world map. Got some great views in France today. Hovering to see the landmarks is amazing. There’s a lot more detail than you think. Big difference from flying by in a plane. Can’t wait until helicopters are released!
Good stuff as ever. Smart move by Microsoft to release this, should bring more people into the flight sim world.
The Pelican is a lot of fun to fly. Nice video. You explain things well. One thing to add, Kip. If you use autopilot NAV 1 Hold which I've binded in my VelocityOne, then the Pelican will disengage the hold function and follow your flight plan!
I had this downloaded since day 1 but never flew it until today, and I immediately fell in love with it!
As much as I appreciate the realism in a flight simulator, adding these fictional aircrafts is fun when I just want to take a break. Thanks for this video which helped me alot. Now I need to jump into my VR headset and try to VR this thing for the first time as well!
Super nice to see your uploads again Kip 👍😊👍
Great tutorial as always Kip! Thanks!
Thanks for tutorial. Between this and Top gun maverick pack with the "SR-72" Dark Star, I am happy!
This video solved my problems with the cruise and hover toggle. thank you
Very nicely explained. Good job!
When I went up, I saw the Moon in the background over the horizon which was cool as well.
Nice video
Hi all, do you get back jets full throttle in cruise mode ? I only see them if i am on hover mode and stick is pushed forward. It would be great If I could see those jet effect if i get it to cruide mode. Or is my thing broken? Thanks a lot.
@Kip on the Ground, how do I enable the NAV mode while in Auto Pilot? TIA.
For a serious flight sim, this is a bit silly, but its still really fun to fly. I like that it seems to have everything you need to fly "normal" aeroplane missions, too.
Tbh, if you remove the ability to get into orbit, the Pelican seems like an aircraft we could build with today's technology.
how does your game look so clean
How do I turn on the instrument panel?
Ok I got a question everytime I try hovering down to land it won't let me it keep automatically pushing my throttle to maxuim power how in the world do I turn that off I should be able to land in hover mode help me . ?
So im kind of confused, it says the pelican is 768.61 kb and i only have 3.98 gb of disk space, how do i fix this?
Yes can you help me land this on Hover mode everytime i try to land it on hover mode it turn to full trottle it wont let me land how do you turn that off it keep going up on full trottle .
The heading knob goes through each number extremely slowly.
i have been having a problem with the D77-TC where it doesnt auto-trim and just pitches up by itself even when i manually trim it
This is happening to me too did you figure out a fix?
@@nightridr5680 sadly, no. i have stopped using the D77-TC due to the weird way it flies. the only “fix” i have found for it was to not go full throttle. only go half throttle or less and the plane will stay pretty level
My Xbox won't let me just hover in place. It keeps me going up at full throttle
I can confirm that the Pelican can make it to at least 64,000 feet.
Should make it to max altitude since they are able to make it to and from space to ships in orbit lol
Should also be able to go faster than 350 ktas since they can enter the atmosphere at orbit speed lol
Why does this thing slam the throttle all the way up every time I try to descend? It's impossible to land!!!!!! (To be clear: in hover mode, I slide the throttle slightly below 50%, meaning to descend slowly. However, as soon as I stop climbing, the throttle locks itself at 100% and if I try to move it, it just locks it straight back to the top. I climb like a rocket and can't do anything about it.)
They should make Marines UD-4 "Cheyenne" Dropship from Aliens2 instead of this.
Being unable to get to space is the game trying to be more realistic. In reality you can't fly much above 50,000 ft because their air is to thin to provide much lift. To get above 50,000 ft you'd need rocket or anti-gravity mode and to not fall like a rock you'd need alot of speed like thousands of knots. It would be really cool if you could fire up the space rockets orbit the earth a few times, and become a fireball if you re-entered the atmosphere too fast.
How do you go forward thrust only without having altitude gain?
In hover mode, you just push forward on the yoke/stick to go forward. Your altitude change is done with throttle, so you need to adjust it so it’s in the green band on the throttle gauge, which I show in the video. Hope that helps.
@@KipOnTheGround I did watch through and see that. It does appear I can’t go 500 units speed in hover mode at low altitude. That’s a flight mode thing?
@brutalhonesty07 ah, yeah, the hover mode is more limited in your forward speed since it’s not using the main thrusters (they are aimed vertically for climbing when in hover mode). Gotta switch to the regular flying mode if you wanna go any faster, where the thrusters rotate to a horizontal orientation instead
@@KipOnTheGround gosh I was hoping a class of fictional alien UFO’s or UAP could be dlc for Flight simulator. All these aircraft are way to slow for my taste. Even the pelican in cruise mode.
Do you have any suggestions or information on mods?
Also are there any cabin lights for the pelican? At night I can’t see the switches.
I dont like hover mode, i wish they simulated it a little better such that it handled more like a helicopter and not some on rails quadcopter that basically flies itself.
I would think that a 25th century troop transport would have at least quadcopter-level pilot assist in it
It's so lazily done the thrusters don't even articulate downward like they should in hover mode.
Bruh I just watched 15 minutes just to find out it’s slew mode :/
There are chapters listed for the video so you can skip directly to that part if that's all you were interested in :-) Also, if you're on PC, you can try this mod out to get to space (and mach 8) without needing slew mode. For Xbox, slew is the only option though: flightsim.to/file/35251/pelicans-in-space
Ha! I can use the GTN 750 on my dash for the “nav pad.”
@KipOnTheGround is there anyway to set the auto-pilot to follow the flight plan you set in World Map?
