In this video I show you how to open up the motor-sicherungen or motor fuse box located in the water proof DME box under the hood. I struggled with figuring out how to slide the cover off of the 5 fuse box while I worked in 100 degree heat this Summer. Here's a two minute guide showing you how to open that fuse box and the water proof DME box located under the fresh air intake - also known as the cabin filter box on an e39 5 series BMW.

Thank you so much my e39 didn’t start anymore thanks to your video I got it running again
Thank you, exactly what I needed to know, how to get that pesky cover off the little black box. Thanks for the close up it was sooooo helpful.
Keep these coming. Thx
very usefull information, didn't know about this "hidden" motorsicherungen fusebox. who knows maybe this comes handy with my own E39.
Insuring my diesel pump, thank you very much.
Thank you for making this video!
Hi Rich,
Great instructional video!…no other CZcams BMW Channel covers in-depth tips like you do. This was particularly useful for my E39!
Cheers
thanks Philip, happy to help. Have a great week.
Thanks for the video. It really helped me to get the top cover off. Thanks 🙏
I saw your video MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY THANKS tomorrow I'll watch
Yo appreciate the help
"Remove the 4 allen screws? Riiiiiiigh because they ALWAYS come out like a charm
Hi, BIMMER ZEIT SAN from Japan. I have a question. What do these fuses work for ? BTW, I have finished my E39's oil-change by your useful video. Thanks.
Thx❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Are any of THOSE fuses in that little black box for the air conditioner or auxiliairy fan???
Does this help for when the fan doesn’t stop running
I'm having a trans failsafe prog on mine with the trifecta lights (ABS, Brake and traction control lights), any idea which wires/fuses to check? I'm thinking I may have a short on a wire since it occurs when the engine is hot but fine during cold start.
What are those fuses for? Thanx
where do these fuses go? same on petrol and diesel?
It would have been great if you had added the diagram as well.
I can’t find where my starter fuse is on my e39 can u help me with that by chance
I found the fuse capsule impossible to pull out as it was tightly bond by other wires in the box. Used a a multimeter to determine the viability of the fuse,
Hey. Great video. Do you know if there is any fuse in there responsible for the instrument cluster light? My instrument light including buttons is suddenly dead...all other fuses from the passenger side / trunk are ok. Thanks for your answer
did you find a fix
@@AKTHUNDERDOG Yes. On the right part of your E39 (passenger side) you have the LCM Module . Is a black box which is responsible for your entire illumination on your car. You can buy a good second one from ebay. Getting a new one from BMW will kill your wallet. I hope it helps. Make sure to get the same code if possible.
You wouldn’t know what powers the DME relay by any chance? Driving
me crazy as it has power draw.
Very helpful. When I try to remove the 4 allen bolts in the plastic top, they turn, but just pop and crackle, but don't loosen. Any suggestions?
The stud they’re screwing into might be turning. Try pushing down hard and turning to get that initial turn to loosen.
@@BIMMERZEITT Thanks! I need to get a allen socket so I can try that. I just have a little allen wrench.

Help me i have a e39 530i
With fault codes p0171 and p0174 basicly it says that the car runs to lean amd it does run very bad. I have watched hours of videos about how to fix this issue but nothing serms to be working i habe changed the MAF i have changed the seal to the disa valve amd i have made sure that the valve works too. I also did a smoke test and it does not have any vacum. Leaks. So what more should i look for does anyone have som experience
Compression test all cylinders
Any idea why I am not getting voltage reading from f2 f3 f4 f5 am getting reading from f1 though, 1999 528i e39.
Oh i have a friend who has a friend who's father had same problem, he replaced DMV module
@@dkrawk8309 That was my conclusion after going through literally everything, first noticed auxiliary fan not coming on swapped it for a used oem no luck then a new after market still no luck, although were getting 12v at live hard to test the pulse signal from dme, just hooked up a universal fan with toggle switch in cabin-sorted.
I have a question about the Fuses, my engine is spinning but it wont start,
when ignion on all i can hear is 3 clicks from the Fuse box in the engine bay. DSC light is also on.
Any help ?
Did you fix it? If so what was it
@@Omgkhii yes i did fix it, it was a blown fuel pump fuse in the trunk
@@MrCone-sq2tqwhich fuse? I have the same problem.
Where is fuse 75 and 76 located in m39 I have removed the glove box
In the trunk where the battery is located
i am in germany. There is no electricity coming to my diesel pump.
Two days, I didn't understand why my diesel pump wasn't working. Thank you no electricity.
Mine Motor Shlurgen box is different and will not open no matter what I do haha, time to smash it to pieces
It’s not easy! It just looks easy in this video.
@@BIMMERZEITT this is very much need vid you made like it was for me :) well, I have a question, do you know where the throttle body fuse is? I would really appreciate since false motor program is showing in my e39 540i
Nothing like unnecessary German design complication.
