Great review! I came up with a workflow to isolate highlights, shadows or mid-tones that allows adjusting them separately. The isolation is done combining dark and light Luma Key presets.

I use it all the time on my iPad mini 6, and Apple Pencil. Not external keyboard anything.
LumaFusion runs on my M2 MacMini (Silicone) as well.
I love it. Multicam is something else.

I want to get an easy to start off with video editor so I'm going into this all brand new. Thanks for adding the cons of this program; that's important for me to know too in making a decision. I might not need to know them at the beginning but, down the road I'd like to know what could possibly be and issue.
Excellent prez thanks. FYI I don’t take many videos (lots of photos and use Lightroom extensively plus PS and NIK). iPad Pro and iMac equipment. I’ve tried Luma in the past and due to the fact I don’t use it often, plus I’m old, I can’t remember what’s what when I come to use it. I used iMovie extensively on a project editing old converted movies and it worked fine for my limited editing needs; and recently VN which IMHO is adequate for my purposes. But I’ve yet to use a video editor which I’m really happy with! Thanks again.

Looking to learn Luma Fusion so i can edit on iPad Pro using external storage. I understand Final Cut Pro for iPad does not allow this yet but I already saw that you can use an SSD with Luma Fusion. Game changing.

The latest Luma Fusion lets you connect a ssl drive to your iPad. I have a 4T ssd. And all my files are on the SSD. And my projects are on the ssd. So I won’t be filling up my iPad with huge video files.
And I agree with you that the Magic Keyboard is perfect for LumaFusion. The keyboard includes a charging input so I can charge the iPad through the keyboard and plug my SSD directly into my iPad and never run out of power and never run out of space for my videos.
I very seldom subscribe to channels unless they are really informative. I am professional software developer and "looooovveee gadgets 😀", when you made the comment about how the iPad Pro keyboard and pen was "SICK", I could not help but laugh and "subscribe". I own about 11+ gadgets of the latest and greatest (yes I am that guy 😀). Keep up the good work. Nice Video

It would be so cool if Lumafusion had a bins feature - you really need somewhere to store relevant clips etc.
Agreed! Organization is lacking. This is definitely an opportunity for FCP to gain some ground when they release their app.

Great rundown review. Love this app overall. That said, I stand with you and your thoughts on titles and the transitions.
Great job on the edit, the screen recording & timely camera view transitions were perfect and kept my attention.

Great review. Just a personal point of view but at this point I feel like Resolve for the iPad is just going to be a better fit for many.
I have used Luma Fusion and it’s pretty capable but when compared to Resolve outside of the missing fusion tab Resolve on iOS has pretty much 1 to 1 feature parity with it’s very powerful desktop counterpart.
While I still love FCPX anything over 10mins or with significant color grading gets edited in resolve at our studio these days. If the magnetic time like came to resolve at some point I’d be hard pressed to find a reason to continue using FCPX outside of the thousands of dollars in plugins we have acquired over the years most of which Resolve does natively without plugins :/
In an age where Apple more frequently shows Resolve running on its iPads / computers at keynotes and events and doesn’t show FCPX I wouldn’t hold my breath for FCPX coming to the iPad.
It seems like Apple has lost its taste for its pro customers and would rather just focus on the larger regular consumer market at this point. I think the first big indicator that Apples pro focused day were behind it was when it dropped support for NVIDIA GPUs. For those of us in the VFX industry so many of our production level 3D rendering engines like Arnold, Redshift, Octane etc are all NVIDIA / CUDA / RTX optimized.
While we still have a few Macs and I still edit video on the go using my 16” M1 MAX it’s becoming only in very niche circumstances where using a Mac has any practical advantages over the PC. It didn’t use to be this way.
I realize I’m on a tangent but for someone who’s always loved using the Mac it’s sad see.
I don't get the impression that Apple is abandoning pro editors, but if you feel this way I guess they're not doing an adequate job of communicating that commitment.
@@JennJager hey Jenn - it’s hard not to feel this way for some of us I think. The open letter that Apple replied to was a nice surprise but still very vague and felt more like lip service than anything.
When you compare the pace of updates and new feature release when looking at Blackmagic - sometimes 3 or more times a year you’d figure Apple being one of the worlds largest tech companies would have the resources to be more proactive with feature updates to stem the hemorrhaging of users over to resolve.
How many years did it take Apple to add a planar tracker into FCPX? Speaking of which we still can’t use Mocha Pro or Silhouette in FCPX or Apple Motion forcing pros that do any type of sophisticated match moving or rotoscoping over to Adobe or Resolve / Fusion.
I realize if roto / tracking is your bread and butter your probably using Nuke / Fusion or the standalone Boris products but it’s nice not to have to round trip for intermediate level effects and Resolve, even premier hasn’t force that on users for years.
Anyway just my 2c’s maybe Apple will surprise us. I’m always receptive for a “one more thing” from them so who knows…
