  • Hello,
    In this video I show you a method for creating panel lines non-destructively in Blender. You can use this technique to bake Normal maps that you can later combin with Texture Normals with Photoshop. Lines can be added anywhere using existing geometry, including subdividing specific areas for denser detail, using the Knife tool to make any shapes, using loop tools for circular details and many more applications.

    TY soooo much! This looks great! Why couldn't I find this when there were all these other vids on this that make you put the effort into your workflow rather than the set-it/forget-it way you showed that's so much more versatile? 🧑‍🍳👌

      @@chrismartinartist How would you do this on objects that are curved, such as a cube that has been bevelled or a cylinder? Could you please re-make this tutorial but more in-depth with ways of doing this method on curves and other objects? It's fine if you don't know and you don't have to make another video on it! Thanks!

      @@PhoenixVids123 I'll try and do a video focusing specifically on curved surface panels.

    Cool tip, can you apply the modifiers in order to keep the detail for printing?

    What button shortcut allows you to mark something as sharp?

    • @chrismartinartist
      @chrismartinartist  Před rokem +1

      I don't think it has a default, but you can set any key. I have mine set to Shift 2. To mark something as sharp you can right click while in edge select mode and select it from the menu, if you right click it in the menu thats also where you can assign a shortcut. Hope that helps.

    How do I thicken the sharp lines? Mines so small you can barely see them

    • @aegisgfx
      @aegisgfx Před 5 měsíci

      panel line size should be relative to the size of the plane, if you make the plane really big then zoom out, your panel line will be very thin hard to see

    cant get it to look good on some really curved mesh

    • @chrismartinartist
      @chrismartinartist  Před rokem

      Yeah, it won't work everywhere, though you can always have floating geometry over the top of the goal is to bake a normal.
