OK I admit when I was standing there holding my hair ready to cut I was also nervous because we didn't get to see you actually cut so I was like do I start in the middle and cut out? Do I start on the outside? How do I make sure the angle is the same on each side? But then I said screw it, just cut already! So I started from the middle since I knew I wanted that to be the longest part. I angles the scissors to make a wide V and just cut. Then I did the same going to the other side, trying to keep the same angle and guess what? MY BANGS LOOK AMAZING! It was so easy!! So everyone needs to calm down. You don't need to see the actual cutting to do this. You're over complicating it. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I LOVE MY HAIR!

Thank you for this comment! I had NO IDEA everyone would freak out about how the actual cutting would go :( I assumed it was pretty self explanatory :S woops! I'm so happy to hear you figured it out and it turned out so well for you! Rock on! :D

I have watched a lot of videos on how to cut ur own bangs, taken classes, researched on the net, everything and I found that when I cut my bangs with ur tricks I got the best results and exactly what I wanted for my wedding day. so despite a few of these other comments, this video really meant the world to me.

I trimmed my bangs just a teensy bit using the angles you show and it turned out perfect! I was cutting it backwards...shorter in the middle and longer on the sides. My bangs really needed a trim so I reversed that angle and it did the trick! Pinned to my Pinterest board! Thanks!

Wow! You rock! Our daughter's wedding is in 3 weeks, and I knew I was taking a risk cutting my own bangs, but since that's all I needed done, I didn't want to go to a stylist. (I'd rather be out in my garden!) I followed your advice exactly, and ten minutes later, I have bangs that look and fall the way they do when I get home from one of my rare visits to the salon.
I've been cutting my own bangs for 40 years, and I've never been able to do it right -- usually it's just a matter of hacking some off so I can see -- now I can cut them to look the way I want them to! Thank you so much!

I love how in the comments, people's reactions are totally divided. It's either "thank you so much they came out perfectly! This works so well I love it!" or "Wow shut up already and cut your hair this video sucks what a waste of time." Y'all need to chill, it's a 5 minute video. If you couldn't follow her explanation or you need to see it visually, go watch another one. It won't kill you. But if you CAN be bothered to pay attention and follow her advice, it does work very well. Mine turned out better than any stylist has ever given me.

Thank you for sharing this video! I have cut my own hair for years, but always struggle with the bangs. I have straight fine hair; this method worked really well for me. I modified the angles you demonstrated (I usually wear fringed bangs parted to one side), but your advice and detailed explanations were extremely helpful. I am really happy with the results and no longer feel like I need to go to the salon for "professional" touch-ups (which I am usually not happy with).

I'm a hair stylist and have been for 7 years, the best way to get bangs that can go either way is to just cut them straight across and the over direction of the hair from parting it on the side will give you the short to long layered look, cutting a V like that gives you a heave spot on both sides. it may work for you but for most people just cut them long straight across.

I actually use this method to cut my bangs. If you cut them like she says then they will almost always turn out well. I have only found one person that was able to cut my hair properly so I started cutting it myself. I don't do a very dramatic V in the hair its more of a lopsided v but it always works. :)
