    Good review. I just got my 4xe that I ordered in June. I enjoy it. I have a 23 mile commute and have 4 miles left on battery when I get to work, if I don't use heat/AC. No charging station at work. But, the hybrid works really well for very good gas mileage in suburban rush hour traffic commute home.

    Great video Steve! Is that real mud in the interior? A badge of honor and a rare sight as most Wranglers will never experience any off roading unless it is to park in a field at the county fair.

    I bought the 4xE a few months ago, best Jeep I've ever owned and the gas mileage is great. Off road it is truly a Jeep, performs a lot better than my 2013 Wrangler. So far it is handled the challenging 4x4 roads in Colorado with ease. I'm also very impressed with the range. My daily commute is a little over 10 mi, so I rarely use gasoline except when on a trip.

    I have the Sahara 4xE. How do I describe it. It’s like having a gun with no bullets. It don’t really do the stuff that electric vehicles should do.

  • @conifergreen2
    @conifergreen2 Před 3 lety

    So much to go wrong. How long does the battery last and how much to replace it? There goes all that savings. I put smaller 16 inch tires on my Wrangler and the handling has improved greatly.

    Is the I-4diesel/hybrid an option? I feel that would be the ultimate MPG winner in Wrangler.

  • @davidcarrico3385
    @davidcarrico3385 Před 3 lety

    Although battery depletion in winter remains to be seen, the 4xe is likely to be pretty good in this area given where the batteries are (under rear seat) and the battery dedicated climate control system. Also, as someone else mentioned, your comment on the AC is probably specific to your vehicle as the AC in the 4xe is all electric so should not be impacted by whether the engine is on or not. Also, on steering, what was your tire PSI? Wranglers from the dealer tend to be way overinflated (in the 40+ psi) which negatively impacts steering. Air down to spec of 37 psi or slightly less and steering vastly improves.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you for your feedback. I agree that the battery might be a little less susceptible to extreme temperatures based on the engineering. And yes, the air conditioning was likely a product of an early test vehicle. But I always adjust the psi to recommended levels with each test drive and that was absolutely not a factor in how these things drive. The steering requires constant small corrections, like every Wrangler I’ve ever driven.

    • @davidcarrico3385
      @davidcarrico3385 Před 3 lety

      @@stevehammes Good to hear you had adjusted PSI. I wasn’t trying to claim the JL has good steering, but rather just wanting to make sure thePSI wasn’t a factor in making it seem worse than it is, as dealers are famous for having it too high. Thx for clarifying.

    Interesting you're having that problem with the air conditioner, air conditioning system is all electric and even in EV mode or stopped that air conditioner freezes me out. While waiting in my car for over an hour running the air conditioning with the engine not running it worked just fine, no musty smell just freezing you out. The air conditioning system does not shut down like a start/stop does in a typical car, it continues to run constantly since it does not use a typical belt driven compressor. By the way, the air conditioning runs off of the lithium battery and will run for a couple of hours just sitting in The Jeep with no gasoline engine running in 100° Central Texas heat.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  Před 3 lety

      Right! I knew it was running on electric which was why I was surprised that the problem was occurring. That’s why I also mentioned that it might just be my test car.

      Several manufacturers are ceasing future gas engine development. We’ll have gas engines for a bit but they are on their way out. There are still many applications that make electrification difficult so it’s going to be interesting for sure.

      Not really. You have to remember there is no range anxiety given that your overall range is between 340 and 400 miles due to the, respectable in its own right, 2.0 turbo 4. Also, the 375hp and 470 lb of torque is always available (even when the battery says
