I love how Checo explained how Max isnt the sore loser the media likes to portray him as.....Drive to survive is also just for entertainment and not rlly a true representation of the sport or the athletes....Thats why max didnt want to participate in it anymore and alot of other drivers also disliked it enough to consider joining Max.
Max gets so much hate and it all goes back to just a few misconceptions and the fact that hes the only true rival Hamilton has had since 2016... thats where the hate comes from.
The UK is the biggest F1 country in the sense that it has the biggest media coverage of F1, most previous and current drivers and the driver with the most records happens to be a brit!
This all makes Hamilton the poster child of F1, the hero of F1, the hero of the UK, hes not white...so theres another reason to appreciate him in this sport.
For the above reasons, Max gets alot of criticism purely because as a person he is the complete opposite of Hamilton, as a driver they are quite similar.
As youngsters they were both very agressive in their driving style, but when Hamilton got the most dominant F1 car in history he didnt need to drive agressive anymore (2014-2020)
Thats also a big reason why max gets booed in the US, he beats his teammate (mexican), he beats Hamilton (not white), hes straight forward and shows his emotions (unlike 99% celebs).
This gets confused with arrogance and anger and being a sore loser... but he just doesnt hide the emotions other athletes tend to hide becaus of their image they want to build.
Max is focused on achieving the greatest career possible in his eyes... hes purely focussed on F1 and he barely does interviews or events unless its required by his team or his sponsors.
He even clocks more hours on a simulator or at home with simulation games than all the other drivers because he enjoys it and wants to be the best he can be @driving.
On the other hand, Hamilton travels the world to be at fashion events and around celebrities at other events and other sports and he gives interviews by choice.
Hamilton in these interviews always talks about himself about how he grew up poor and other personal stuff that makes fans and media connect with him (he was never poor btw)
So the media and the brittish fans and american fans tend to look at max as the villain simply because he is beating the hero of F1 and because max doesnt mince words.
He doesnt play a role, he doesnt go and thank all the fans at every race when he gets the mic and tells them how the fans @ that track are special and how this track is so amazing...
Max is honest about which track he prefers and which location he thinks the fans are the most intense or the kindest to the drivers etc....
Hamilton built an image for himself, Max doesnt care about an image because he shouldnt...... why would you act out a part anytime there is a mic or camera if you are focused on achieving something for yourself?
You can thank fans... you should, they show support and appreciation and they even generate the income....
but there is no reason to call the fans or the track special at every location, because if they all are special, none of them are!
But i fear most people dont see through the bshit of certain people in front of a camera because they dont want to look deeper,
they just take information in the way it is presented, they look no further.
Finally, i read headlines every month F1 media says Max complains alot:
Hamilton in 2020-2021-2022 complained constantly about other drivers driving dangerous, driving over the lines ur not supposed to cross, trying to get other drivers time penalties, complaining about how his team had the wrong strategy or how the engineers messed up the setup of his car or how everytime he was beaten to the finish line: the other car is faster!
But if Max complains.... now its time for headlines, thats F1 media, UK media..... they did the same to Alonso when he was Hamiltons teammate @mclaren!
Simply because Alonso is not from the UK and Hamilton is and Alonso is straight forward and showed his emotions and Hamilton played a part.
(sorry for the book i wrote, trying to explain to others why its unfair Max gets so much hate)
