That reminded me back when I saw this kid and his old man were outside of a recruitment office with a cop and the recruiter. Apparently the Dad got angry with the recruiter and threatened him because he couldn't take his kid just because he got someone pregnant and he was holding him by his belt so he couldn't run away :-D Anyways, the recruiter called the cop to get them to leave and try to talk the dad off his "anger cliff".
Kevin should have known right from the beginning that Frank was just messing with him. Even in the 1970s, it was illegal for anyone under age 18 to be enlisted in the armed forces, especially if the person in question was a troubled youth.
