Los Angeles-based Grateful Shred manage to channel that elusive Dead vibe: wide-open guitar tones, effortless three-part vocal harmonies, choogling beats, and yes, plenty of tripped out, Shredded solos. The look, the sound, the atmosphere. It’s uncanny. “It’s more of a ‘take’ on the Dead than a tribute band,” says bassist Dan Horne. “We end up sounding almost more like the Dead because we approach it in this free-spirited way.”

Best vocal harmonies of any dead related/cover group ever. These guys shine and Mapache is fantastic. Roots Americana at its finest/ can also make you want to drop acid and let it all hang out.
Just like early 70’s...acoustic dead, new riders...mescaline Northern California asaaaaahH...summer, the smell of dry grass, cherry incense and honeysuckle.

Wow, these guys are fantastic. What a beautiful cover of "Shining Star." I'd say it's on par with some of Jerry's versions of it. I wish Dead and Co would cover it. I feel that would be beautiful and right in JM's range.

Then they need to write their own great songs. Otherwise they are just a really good cover band.
Musicians either play music that they love and believe in, or they play music that will get them rich. Some get to do both. Whether it's their original or a cover, they are incredibly passionate about what they are putting out, and I can celebrate that.
