Hi, Chris. As you know there are many tuition vodeos on uTube but most tutors don't bring themselves down to the level of students, but YOU DO. Well done - you're a breath of fresh air.
Hi Chris, you have a subscriber. Since having cataract surgery I thought using dark mode would be enough, but this shows the power of Thunderbird under the hood and I can read it again. Thank you.
I am glad this helped, I found this when setting up Thunderbird for someone with sight problems and now use it frequently for other people and now myself!
Actually worked, in a way. Seems to make everything bigger. I was focusing on the messages and why some of them are so narrow and the type so small. Don't remember having to do this before with any new install.
Yes, I was hoping to find a solution to only make the text in messages bigger. It is disproportionately small compared to the rest of the font sizes in thunderbird.

HI Chris, thanks for this video on how to increase the type size, but I have an issue with just the "message header size" Is there something similar that will just alter the size of this type? Currently, it appears less than 6pt with the rest of the message being around 12pt. Any ideas, I've tried various extensions but they don't work?
Chris, I took Thunderbird 91 to a whole new level. Now I have TB running perfectly: Identities, HTML Signatures, Templates. I even found an amazing theme to replace the system dark; It's called TB91 compliant - Monterail Full Dark is in the addons repository. This theme is perfect for users who need a real dark theme due to light sensitivity.
Hi again, Chris. I took your advice in the belief that it would enlarge all the print on my general Thunderpage page BUT, sadly, it only enlarged the print on any email I open, not the general Tb page. Even worse, I increased the print size to 2.50 for that reason but now the "risk" page is so big that I can't get it to reduce this down to realistic levels e.g. 1.25. Please, please, please help me and I'll gladly pay for your help. I just want to enlarge the print on the general TB page so that it'll be the same size as the print on each email.
If that did not work (I am not sure why as it increased everything for me) then you could come out of Thunderbird and increase the size of Windows 10 in General, just right click on any free space desktop, left click Display Settings, scroll down to Scale and Layout and try increasing the percentage to see if that helps, and/or try different resolutions.
When I click on the 3 lines I do not get options? Using Preferences could not see config editor. Any suggestions what it is now named?. I would also like to remove the lines that are added when replying. Some programs have this as an option one just has to turn off could Thunderbird not do the same? I also came in to see if there was a easy way to contact the programmers. One of the recent updates moved the location of where attachments show from the top right corner to the bottom of the email.
In the latest version as of October 21 To access the Config Editor, go to the 3 lines in the top right and select Preferences. Search for config and click on the Config Editor button when it is displayed.
Thank you so much. I just got a new bigger 27-inch monitor. and it made it worse. Thunderbirds docs are confusing. Followed your instructions it was set to -1.25 I changed it to 1.25 and it is great. There used to be an extension to do this but it no longer works I think that is where I ended up in such an odd setting. Thank you.
I am not sure myself, I think this would be an impossible task to do directly from thunderbird but I could be wrong, if anyone knows then please feel free to comment!
Hello - this tutorial is very clear, thank you. I have an issue that you might already have a tutorial for. You may point me in the right direction. How does one sync the color coded tags across all devices. I use 6 different computers for my business and have mozilla thunderbird installed on all 6 (all in different locations) I have a tagging system set up with 9 different colored tags assigned. I want them to sync with each other across all devices- I know it is possible as I had an office aide who learned how to do it. There must be a kind of code I can use to make this sync work much like you show in the tutorial about making the text larger. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you
Apparently this will only work if the IMAP server you are connecting to supports Keywords. So its really down to the email server you are connecting to rather than Thunderbird.
Not sure why that is but if you tap the alt key on your keyboard then you should see the File Edit View menu appear at the top of the screen then click Tools then Options.
I made a mistake and made size to large and now Thunderbird is not functional. I tried deleting and re-installing Thunderbird, sill no luck. Any suggestions
I think you may have to create a new Thunderbird profile and start again from scratch. Please Google create new Thunderbird profile to find out how to do this.
hi Chris, can you please help. i decided last night to switch from outlook to Thunderbird and purchased an extension OWL so that i can have my gmail and business emails through Thunderbird. they both worked find last night. However this morning my business emails had vanished. when i went to reconfigure the account it says (right at the end) that account settings already exists but still on showing on my consoul. can you please me to retrieve my account and email. ty
Thank you for your message, unfortunately I do not have any experience with that addon, you would probably be best asking a question in the Thunderbird Community here support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/thunderbird I hope you get this sorted out.
I am sorry to hear that, I know that if you install an older version then upgrade to this latest version then it should work, I have set this up on a few customers pc when older versions were around and the largeness seems to have carried across.

In Thunderbird its called Threading and you need to do the following Click the menu button and select the View menu (or, press the Alt key to make the classic menu bar appear and open the View menu). In the Sort by submenu, click Threaded. Your messages will jump together into tree structures that can be expanded or collapsed with the ▹ arrow next to the subject.
