    This is a very good review, well done. I have the 1.4 Turbo 150 version in the UK which I think is a great car. Surprised that the test car had 5 speeds not 6. Good to see tester doing driving on normal roads not throwing it around a track and not trying to be funny and / or clever like certain UK websites. Subscribed!

    Opel really did a very good job with new Astra, most of the improvement I see is with the interior aesthetics/ambiance which is a cut above previous model. Surprisingly nice/revy sounding 3cyl. on the motorways. A lot of positives there and hopefully it continues with upcoming new Insignia. Top review there Thomas.

      Also... if someone is interested, specific points for the cars are: Opel Astra (51); Audi A4 (47); Škoda Superb (41); Volvo XC90 (39); Hyundai i20 (28); Mercedes-Benz GLC (27); Ford S-Max (18). Evaluation commission consisted of 10 members. Each of them had 25 points, which they could devote however they wanted. Although, they couldn't appoint more than 10 points for one car.
      Here are the other nominations...
      3 nominations to Volvo XC90: "Car of the nation", "Best safety" and... "Female attraction object". :-D
      "SUV of the year": Audi Q7; "Business car of the year": BMW 7; "Best design": Renault Espace; "Most sporty": Seat Leon Cupra.
      So ... It is Volvo XC90, that got the most attraction in our country. But probably, Opel is the winner due to smaller expenses.
      Also, it would be interesting if others share information with the community, which cars are the winners (Cars of the year, or something like that...) in other countries.
      I like auto community here! ;-)

Good job Opel.

    Great review again Autogefühl. I do sincerely support your work, there's really nothing left unsaid, and so for this new Astra.
    Anyway, here in Croatia Astra is like every third car on the road, it's a lot more common than Focus or even Golf! (it had been sold for years now as two-generation model at the time with model on the end of it's lifecycle becoming 'ASTRA KLASIK', and getting much more affordable price-tag).

    The side chrome strip reminds me of the Astra J GTC that I drive. In general, I like the look of the previous model more. Wheels also became smaller, whereas the car itself is not that much smaller. As far as I know, the versions with engines above 120HP have different suspension. And when it comes to knobs on the steering wheel, only the highest trip level with the biggest navi has this wheel. In lower trip level version, knobs are exactly the same as they were before.

      I have driven Skoda Octavia and Superb, and if I am honest, I would rather buy Octavia over Superb. I enjoyed driving it more. I only don't like the interior/gauge lightning (black/white combination) of both of them... it seems a little bit without feeling, soulless. And I also felt torque pulling steering wheel when I went out of the corner wuth full throttle. That's why I prefer RWD cars. :) Otherwise great price/performance value.
      I haven't driven Golf GTI though.

    It's interesting that a lot of your observations are extremely different from all the UK reviews - I wonder whether the Vauxhall tuning/setup is quite different? For example the UK reviews praised the direct, fast steering and firm suspension...

    • @heros2110
      @heros2110 Před 6 lety

      The problem is, every model in the Astra K has its own suspension layout, so the impression varies. The 1.6 SIDI has a very stiff and fast responding riding experience, while the 1.0 maybe has a more comfort-oriented suspension with compromised driving at higher speeds or in situations when you need a stiff suspension.

  • @pipoo1
    @pipoo1 Před 4 lety

    Worth mentioning that all Astra Ks with the leather interior come with heated front AND rear seats as well the heated steering wheel as standard. On the update you'll also get massage and cooling (for when its hot) functions thrown in. Those aren't even options on its rivals.

  • @madisjaagura
    @madisjaagura Před 8 lety

    My comments about 3 cyl astra.
    For 1.0T enough capable, makes harsh noise only briefly, no unnecessary vibrations, overall quite quiet (only little road noise and compared to Golf less tire noise). Engine was quite rev-happy, so it does not feel turbocharged. Fuel consumption was not that low (4l/100km @60km/h and 5-6l/100km @ 90-100km/h, same as 1.2-1.4TSI Golf).
    Handling was vague (compared to Golf VII) and boring even with 225/45/17 tires, had to concentrate to keep car from waving. Gear-knob is half plastic, little uncomfortable, but gear-change felt good.
    Standard (entry level) seats offer little back support, so I got backache after 30min. Entry level interior was little cheap-feeling compared to a version presented here (very bad steering wheel buttons - different from presented car). Cruise control could be set only by 2km/h intervals.
    Infotainment: dull screen graphics, but not bad. Standard audio had very little bass(almost nothing), but highs were quite ok. Too many buttons for AC. Good armrest in front.
    With double floor, luggage space was quite small. A-pillars obstract view, rear-view mirror little-bit too small and rear window were also small (5 door). Rear compartments felt much cheaper than front (no central armrest in the back). As much room as in Golf (although Astra is longer car).
    If this car was cheaper than Golf then everything could be understandable, but here its priced at similar level as Golf. Overall visually its more fun than Golf (but only visually).

    very detailed and great reviews always , just in my opinion in this one there is a small flaw... I dont think you can compare this particular model with 3 cylinder with even a 1.6 Astra model with 4 cylinder as the torque and power are very different , let alone a ford focus or a VW. this is particularly for city driving , I wish you had a 1.6 Turbo or even 1.4 turbo for this review which I guess most of people would consider for buying :)

    I have the previous model (J) astra 1.4T, which I prefer more in terms of lines and elegance. However I am jealous of the more powerful engine and technical options of the new Astra, eg. the LED matrix headlights. The H -> J was an enormous leap forward for Opel, but the J -> K was a much smaller jump.

      @WarthDader74 Před 7 lety

      43854586 You can't be serious man. There are countless things that is better in the H model. Here are some of them:
      1.The dashboard in H model looks more futuristic and the buttons are much more easy to use. The J model is a big confusing mess with all of the buttons.
      2.The gear knob on manual H models is 'normal' designed and much better to operate than the "automatic transmission" looking gear knob on J and K. On the K model they have even made this worse , by angling the whole gear lever in an annoying and uneccassary way.
      3. The seat adjustment in H models are much easier to operate than J.
      4. The horisontal designed airflow vents in middle of H's dashboard looks much more 'premium class' than the verticals(looks cheap and ugly) on the J.
      5. On H models it is possible to mount aftermarket car radios, which are much better than the originals.
      6. The H models are more compact and feels sportier to drive.
      7. The design of the H models looks more timeless than the newer ones. The front and rear design actually looks more modern than the K model.

    • @kypkyp17

On the day I received my car, the headlights were not working. I was shocked and ı called the Opel service. This was a big record. Neither Opel Turkey nor Reis Auto accept this mistake. There are a lot of complaint about Reis auto. Opel Turkey can not do this mistake. Opel Turkey send me a evaluation form and until now there is no development . As a result, istoç agency is closed and I am still waiting for a solution from Opel. I think its not worth to give a lot of money to Opel. Because they are not responsible for their own mistakes.
