  • Fishing from one of the many road bridges in the Florida Keys we catch multiple tropical species and a surprise encounter with a very large bycatch. Under very challenging conditions to start with, Mrs Fishlocker and I land some stunning fish. Then I return for the afternoon and have some incredible sport with multiple new species and PB's. Witness loads of wonderful sea creatures and top up my tan in the process ( very sunburnt scalp!! ) I explain what I am doing and why, the rigs I am using and share any lessons learned from this session. I hope it helps.
Here are links to some of the fishing tackle I used in this video. I hope it helps.

Great video , I have been traveling to the S W florida coast around the Sanibel island area from the UK for 20 years fishing mainly for Tarpon and Snook , a couple of things I have learnt you might find useful is a Thermacell handheld unit works great at keeping the mosquitoes away , ace hardware stores have them as do Bass pro shops , my wife and I have 1 each and take them everywhere , if you do get bitten, the best thing by far is witch hazel I buy a bottle as soon as I arrive from a cvs chemist , sometimes you have to ask for it they sometimes keep it behind the counter , don't know why , just put it straight on the bites for instant relief , the best bait I have found for Tarpon is a small blue swimming crab , if you touch your index finger to your thumb that circle is about the size you want , a thin gauge mutu style circle hook and work the hook through the point on the side from the bottom to the topside with a twisting motion to not crack the shell , freeline it in front of the Tarpon give plenty of slack you want the crab right down in front of there face , don't strike just tighten , you can buy crabs or catch them , to declaw them just squeeze the claw with pliers and it will shed it , I hope you jump one they are spectacular , i have videos on my channel from where i go if your interested ,feel free to question me , tight lines Andy

      Hi John,
No we regularly went out to sea and off the beach and on numerous occasions the coast guard stopped us out at sea to checked our licences, the fish sizes and our hooks. The beach guys did the same with everyone. We lived in Sarasota on the gulf coast for 14 years, this verifying you are within the law happens regularly ! They check out the boat as well, insurance, life jackets, first aid kits, etc !! Saying all that, it was a great experience catching all the different species there is out there and some fabulous tasty fish !!
I really enjoy your channel keep up the great work, very informative !!
