- I'm a minimalist, but I also love books. So, in this video, I will talk about how you can approach books as a minimalist. How do you declutter books? How many books should you have as a minimalist? How to buy books intentionally? These are some of the questions I will try to answer in this video.

Wow that hit me when you said we can only read so many books in our lifetime so it’s important to be selective
Yes, we often don’t contemplate the impermanence of our life. When we do it becomes much more clear what really matters :)
Really helpful to think that I have a "lifetime max" of books. This made it easier to keep letting go of more books. I almost never reread. It's probably less than 2% of all my books that I will EVER read again. Other than that, they're just decorations that are difficult to pack & move with. Better to let someone read them who can learn something new from them or have their own adventure :)

Minimized my books recently. The thought of it was difficult, but as soon as I started it was easy. Don’t even miss what I sold/donated. Consolidated to a select few that made an impact, and that I actually remember. I can promote each one effectively like a prescription to improve someone’s life. Vs saying “yeah that one’s good”
You are right. Quality is better than quantity. And yes. I do feel guilty wanting to throw or give them away. I feel that when I bought them, I have to do my duty to read them. But I know I'm never going to read them! 😮
I have over three thousand books and about 15% of them are cookbooks. I want to declutter and donate them to Charities or resale bookstores but I just can't make up my mind which ones to get rid of? Was a tough choice but you mentioned here about ebooks and I think that's the right I'm going to go I'll just keep my favorite books cuz I still love the feel of a bound book in my hands but I will get my floor space back from my seven bookcases and 45 boxes of books !

It’d be good to declutter more b/c in a year I am moving several states away ..

I'm considering buying a Kobo ebook reader. I enjoy reading but I hate having the physical book and reading from a smartphone app is not really suitable. Lovely video, thanks for sharing, Johannes. :)

This is difficult for me - two things I cannot resist buying - tea and books. Giving books away hurts, it is ridicoulus I know.
I don't read good books, life is too short for that, I read only the best.
I don’t usually reread books. I borrow books from the library. Stopped buying books years ago.
What about non fiction books? How to declutter those…

Thats a great start! I wish you all the best on your reading journey! I didn't use to read that much until a few years ago and it took me quite some time to get there :D Just take some time every day for reading, even if it's only 5 minutes, and you will be amazed at how many books you will read :)

I'm a reader my wife is not, i have many books maybe several hundred, my wife says i give them free board and lodging but they are and have been a huge part of my life,it will be hard to shed any
My problem is I would borrow books from library, only read little bit and feeling like I am running out of time when they "expire" and end up buying the books from online and now I'm barely reading them. I might as well donate them but I feel guilty.

Read one, then remove, donate, give away.
But one at a time. Did we not do that in school?
Beside your quality of reading comes from meditation of one book at a time.
But if you really want more, then see which ones you can refer to or use once a week. Why keep something that you only look at once a month?
Some books wont spark joy. They will be the books that spark resistance and interest and that you should keep at. Some books need grid!
