"Phantom faces at the window." Don't worry, Hadley, it's just Ramin.
im dying omg
Lol beware the phatom of the opera
I came here to say how amazing Hadley is, but then I read your comment and I died.
HAHAHA!!
That moment when you realize both Les Miz and Phantom take place in Paris. So Raoul now lives a dual life as a paris schoolboy in the French Revolution and is stepping out on Christine for a chick named Cosette.
he remembered the words!! so proud!!
Haha I came here for this comment
Eyyy i get it
HAHAHAHAH I THOUGHT THE SAME THING
😂😂
haha, inside theatre nerds joke
I think the problem we have here is that it isn't physically possible for Hadley to play Grantaire, Marius and Javert at the same time, perfect as that would be.
Concept: Les Mis, but it's just Hadley. No other male cast, just hadley playing all the male characters
@@madisonh.2992 oh shit i did not think this through did i
what if hadley does every single part and it's actually just hadley hallucinating his life when he's sick
another concept: les mis but it's just hadley and ramin karimloo
Imagine Brian Holden in Solve It Squad Returns
Lea salonga doing all the female parts
@@annal7130 sierra and lea**
Funny to note hadley was prob the only person to play marius at the precise age as the character 22 years
Gino7lord HOLD UP, COSETTE WAS 15 IN THE BOOK
@@nicoshaw832 different times my friend, different times
he was so baby,,,,, fresh out of college,,,, new and shiny,,,
Didn't Chris McCarrell also do it? (I might be wrong I just remember him being pretty young)
@@miyaatherton8326 He was 23 or 24 I believe. So basically, yeah.
Hadley and Ramin are like.. Perfect at every stinking role! Hadley is a funny Grantaire, a good Javert, a lovable Raoul, and a good Marius now! An Ramin is really good at everything too.. And to top it off, they sing folk too! I love Hadley!!
I agree. Nick's problem wasn't that he was bad, it's just everyone else was at a higher level than he was vocally.
Exactly. Nick Jonas is a very good singer and portrayed a really sweet and young Marius but was completely drowned out by all the other performers. Was certainly no match for the legend that is Hadley Fraser. 😍
What bothers me is that Hadley Fraser was in the Les Mis movie as an army officer.. -_- yet Russell Crowe was cast at Javert. With Hadley's musical talent and experience he should have had a much more prominent role in the movie if they were going to cast him in the first place.
Anna B. I'm six years late and you probably don't even care anymore but I don't think they would have casted someone so young for an around 40-50 y/o character in a movie.
@@Siegfried1917 yeah but anyone other than Russel Crowe
@@Siegfried1917 With some good make up, I think that he could've been a great fit for this role. His voice was already mature so all he needed was some painted wrinkles in his face. That's my opinion of course
Katerina Chatziathanasiou AGREED
And then they put that ridiculous mustache on him. Why? Why? Why? It undercut his scene.
I saw a video of him and Ramin singing this on concert and Hadley forgetting the words in the begging 😂 and i loved his harmonizing so here i am
Oh my god. He is so perfect as Marius. His youthful tone when he sang this is just so powerful and moving. He's aged marvelously. I rarely get chills listening to the more well known songs of musical theatre because I've heard like every cast recording. But this... Oh my god
Thought no actor would ever beat the wonderful Michael Ball but I think we have a contender here for best ever Marius! Brilliant Hadley
I'm sure there must be a way of dubbing Hadley's Marius over Nick Jonas! He sounds so different now you would never know he was playing Marius and Grantaire 😀😀😀
This was the only song where NJ didn't have to "compete" with more powerful voices. It's almost painful to watch "drink with me" from the 25th. Everyone on that stage outperforms NJ without even trying.
@@darkiee69 He started in Broadway in 2003 (he was actually in _Les Mis_ as Gavroche that year), but there's a seven-year gap between that and the 25th so his voice hasn't developed into the style that's needed for musical theater.
Ramin + Hadley = Best musical duet EVER!!! They're like Batman and Robin :P
He sounds so young! His voice has changed so much in the last ten years or so - he has such a powerful, rich quality to his gorgeous baritone now. Still an amazing performance though.
It's not a common thing when one actor can be my favorite for several characters in a single musical. Seriously my favorite Javert, Marius, and Grantaire. Goodness, Hadley is the best!
And army officer/ Loudhailer
And Raoul ❤
Hadley will always be Grantaite to me, but he's incredibly amazing in every part he plays, he's just too good.
Goshhh I love him so much
Hadley Fraser and Michael Ball are my favourites Marius
Michael Ball is the greatest ever Marius. His voice is beyond compare. However Hadley Fraser has a lovely voice as does Ramin Karimloo. Michael Ball will also be my favourite. :)
there's always that one person in the audience who coughs...
Hadley Fraser manages to break my heart a little more every single time I hear him sing. Seriously one of the most gifted actors around.
every time i listen to his version i cant stop. I feel his emotion and Hadley's voice is perfect for this song
Thank you for your continuous love and support ❤💜💜🖤🖤💙💙
I'm in love with him.
I'm still glad that Sam Barks got the role of Eponine. I could never see anyone else playing her part!
"Oh my friends, oh my friends, forgive me"
;(
Anything Hadley sings makes me weep, my goodness! lol
I saw Hadley in the 20th Anniversary of Les Mis., just LOVED him. Very great voice and very suitable for a leading man, very good looking!!
There's a grief that can't be spoken,
There's a pain goes on and on.
Empty chairs at empty tables,
Now my friends are dead and gone.
Here they talked of revolution,
Here it was they lit the flame,
Here they sang about tomorrow and tomorrow never came.
From the table in the corner,
They could see a world reborn,
And they rose with voices ringing,
And I can hear them now
The very words that they have sung
Became their last communion
On this lonely barricade, at dawn.
Oh my friends, my friends forgive me
That I live and you are gone
There's a grief that can't be spoken,
And there's a pain goes on and on
Phantom faces at the window,
Phantom shadows on the floor,
Empty chairs at empty tables where my friends will meet no more.
Oh my friends, my friends don't ask me
What your sacrifice was for
Empty chairs at empty tables
Where my friend will sing no more.
Whatever he sings is perfect. I love him
this is literally perfect..
so so so so beautiful!!!!!!!!! can't stop listening to this seriously!!!!!!
No Nick's Empty Chairs brought me to tears. He was a perfect Marius because he captured the innocence in the beginning and showed the downturn into pain towards the end.
Can't imagine how dreadfully lovely he used to be as Marius
I love him sooooo much!!!!
That's how to sing this Les mix classic! Bravo! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😀❤️❤️❤️
Hadley
Thank you for your continuous love and support ❤🧡💛🖤💜💙💚
His rendition is absolutely amazing! I have goosebumps through the entire song!
Absolutely chilling. I adore it.
Wow!! Hadley is amazing!! what a voice!! =3
Young Hadley was already amazingly talented.
Really love this guy
For me the best version I heard of this song!
He is so fantastic
is there a bootleg? i'm crying
his voice is freaking amazing

HE SANG THIS ARGGGGG I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIS VOICE I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM
I think he's my favorite Marius
his voice is the soundtrack of my soul
14 seconds in and i was sold....
You can tell Hadley's voice anywhere, whether he's singing with Ramin in The Sheytoons or in pieces like this. It's just that strong and beautiful... That sort of bothered me about the movie that was recently made; there is such a deep well of musical talent they could have drawn out of, people who actually had experience with the roles, yet they hardly even dipped into it...
Thank you for your continuous love and support ❤💜💙💙💚💚💚💚
Amazing talent.
wonderful rendition... Hadley can do no wrong in my eyes. thank you for posting.
Thank you for your continuous love and support ❤💚💚🖤🖤💜💜
I don’t know about you, but that took me to another planet
this is perfection.
Why does he make every character perfect?!? My favourite Marius and my favourite Raoul! :') xx
DAMN. Hadley Fraser, love me.
This gave me shivers and tears. Absolutely fantastic
I know!!!!!! It's so sad!! :'( He's absolutely wonderful here. Best version I've ever heard, certainly! :)
New fave:) absolutely stunning..
who is also here because the phantom live, all tho it was a long time ago?
I saw Hadley as Marius back in 2003. He struggled almost the entire show but he NAILED "Empty Chairs." Will never forget it.
Perfection! He slayed that song to the max! I like him more than Ball.
Nick Jonas indeed put in a valiant effort, but it was plain to see (and hear) that he was being overwhelmed by the sheer talent and power of the rest. But perhaps after some years, he'll get better if he continues working really hard at it. It was at this moment that Marius grew from a boy to a man and one can't deny that Hadley nailed this.
1:18 MARRY ME!!!!!! 😂😂😂
Thank you for your continuous love and support ❤🖤💜💙💚
When I first heard that line, I had to know who that guy was. I had NO idea he was Hadley Fraser! I wish he had had a bigger role because his voice is flawless. Now I wish that he had been cast as Marius instead of Eddie.
Well from all that coughing we can tell that somebody survived from the barricade
Thank you for your continuous love and support ❤💜💜💜🖤🖤
@@hadleyfraser4019 when the imposter is sus
ramin went from enjolras to valjean in 9 years... what an upgrade
Wow.....
Holy crap- that was awesome!
Thank you! Finally someone else that isnt like "Oh Jonas? Ewh he just ruined the entire concert"
Just found out that Fraser will be in the Les Mis movie playing the Army General of the National Guard, I love how I keep hearing about people that have been Les Mis veterans having little parts in the movie! Colm is perfect for the Bishop.
Thank you for your continuous love and support ❤💜💙💚❤🧡💛
crying
Hadley should play the role of the Phantom
Phantom Phan yesssss 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Cole Sprouse can’t understand why he hasn’t yet
i think hadley is the only marius i've heard who i actually liked. he sounds like youthful without being whiny, which is fucking rare of marius tbh.
rauol and erik on the same side, OMG!
That's ridiculous, of course it's possible, he's Hadley Freaking Fraser! And then there would be a random crossover cameo where Raoul just wandered across the stage being, well, sexy because, as I mentioned before, he is Hadley Freaking Fraser.
I would love to see the video of this performance
I think I love them all
oh gosh he kil me, wow such voice be my brother :)
He looks a lot like a young Brad Pitt here!
And this recording was from, what, 20-21 years ago? For such an old recording, the audio quality is so good!
How many, which roles has ramin, or hadley done in les miz? Marius, javert, enjolras, grantaire,
Ramin is now playing Jean ValJean
What happened to Raoul before POTO...
omg i think i just died a little when he started singing...marry me hadley?
Sharing's for caring.....
Who else wants to throttle the people who are coughing? Especially these days.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! *-*
oh my goodness
Agreed. Hadley is amazing. It's too bad they were more focused on making money with big hollywood names
Every time. :)
Hey its Raoul!!! :D
Thank you for your continuous love and support ❤🖤💜💙💚💛🧡❤
:'( I wish I could get this on Itunes
@Robyn Edwards
I'm totally with ya on that one!
But then Nick would have to sing Drink With Me, and Hadley's version of that was sheer perfection :p I agree, though. Nick is young and hasn't had the amount of vocal training needed for a show of this calibre.
I know this really random... but "Phantom faces" makes me laugh. Just because, you know... he was in Phantom of the Opera :)
We should get Erik to punjab 'em :P
I swear... sometimes I have no idea where my brain is. Thanks for letting me know though, and not calling me names lol...
I think there are only three Marius I really like: Hadley Fraser, Andy Mientus and Adam Jacobs.
Truly a crime that they had him play Grantaire and not Marius in the 25th Anniversary concert. This is a very beautiful rendition but my favorite Marius and therefore my favorite version of this song will be Michael Ball.
Fun fact, Ramin was his understudy
So much better than Nick Jonas, he should've been Marius in the 25th : c
I certainly do xD
I know right.
Does anyone know who played Grantaire in this production?
He did have a singing part...
Two Batmans?... Mmm, good point :D
