Bronze:
Combos for big unsafe moves:
stMP > Target Combo (stMP - stHP -stHK)
stMP > crMP > MK Tatsu
stLK > MK Tatsu (combo for less unsafe moves i.e. Ken Hard Kick)
When you have super:
stMP > crMP > Fireball > Super
*neutral jump fireballs*
I managed to go from Rookie to Bronze in my first 6 hours of playing thanks to this guide. First time playing a fighting game since casually trying SF4 and giving up 7+ years ago. For other newbies... you don't even need to know V Trigger, V Reversal, V Skill, frame data, safe vs unsafe moves, or any of that stuff. I still don't LOL. Just focus on uppercutting people that jump in, block and counter-attack, and throw annoying fireballs and you're good. I also personally like to throw in a DP after I get knocked down if my opponents don't know to back up or block as well.
Gonna try and get all 4 videos out before Monday! Then we start Dan!

Having the text on screen when punish opportunities arise is next level in terms of helpfulness, I picked up Ryu in a couple days and felt confident enough to play ranked with him.

Thank you so much. I struggles a lot to start this game. I learned a lot of combos, did many combo trials but still couldn’t really do anything during a real match. This really teaches me how to practice to get better.
jumping into sfv for the first time, coming from tekken. this helped me get to bronze in 2 sessions! reducing the tools to think about helps so much

Just started trying to learn how to play sfv and am using this guide. I can see myself improving slowly but surely. I'm in rookie at the moment and they really do do the stuff you say I even catch myself doing it 😅. Thanks for making stuff like this it really does help
This is the perfect video for me, I've played some anime fighting games but without gatlings, airdashes and some of the wackier mechanic I couldn't really string together a basic gameplan, especially because combos are so much weirder to me in sf5.

I am a God lvl Mk11 player wich is high tier or high elo , i started playing SFV with a friend, the basics are generaly the same for every fighting game, even tho ive reach almost competitive lvl this guide is really good even for veteran fighting game players, its also a new game and im getting use to the frame data and punish game, thnx bro, 1 year old and still usefull ill check the update videos since im late for sfv lol

Omfg you are a genius, i have soo much trouble with fireballs. I didn’t know why i was so anxious and forward jump when i can just neutral jump and play the waiting game. I was at a point where i was neutral jumping until the time runs out. It was hilarious. Sometimes it gave me a breathing room and helps me to think. I can now time my forward jump when it is safe rather than being forced to forward jump. I don’t know if that make any sense.

I’ve always gone to grapplers because they’re easy for me to get some damage, but now that I tried vanilla ryu and followed this guide I got to silver, I can’t believe it tbh. And I’m better with grapplers because of it as well

Thanks for the tips! I recently made it to Ultra Bronze within 460 ranked matches. I even went up as high as 1700. Still got a lot of work to do... I can't anti-air with M-DP yet - I can't input it fast enough to react to the jump. Need to drill that motion. But now Silver doesn't seem so far off haha. Also, some match-ups just stump me since I haven't had experience with them before. I guess I just need to lab them and see what certain characters' moves are and what you can and can't punish.

Can you use these techniques when fighting Ken instead of Ryu? Their movements are very similar in some cases.

V-reversal kinda sounds difficult to do on pad, the triple punch
Beginner Ryu from Japan. After trying out the tactic mentioned in this video for over 300 matches, I have to conclude that you will at least need to be using the game plans from Silver to Gold video just to get up to Silver rank.
Simply not enough to get you to Silver I’m afraid...
I like to main Ken, is the concept the same here? I think Ken's fireball is a little slower and the plus frames are worse than Ryu's? Any tips? I've been trying to play in neutral but all I can do with Ken are pokes and rushdown+throw rushdown+sweeps. Thanks in advance.

Could you please do something like this for a non fireball character. I really like karin and i'm trying to implement this kind of strategy, but without a fireball and what seems like pretty hard to time anti airs im struggling.

I can’t seem to get the super to chain from fireball in the STMP>CRMP>Fireball>Super 9:19 is there a trick to it? Or maybe a more easy combo to Chain super? Any tips are appreciated, thanks!
The qcf input you do for the fireball counts as an input for super so you don't have to do it twice. So when you throw the first fireball just simply do another fireball motion and it'll cancel into your super
As cool as this is, there’s always going to be unpredictable players you face online even at low ranks.

Even with this, I’m confused I don’t know how to do half of what this man is talking about in the first four minutes of the video… I need a more simplified tutorial somebody that’s gonna like show the controller and the actual buttons being tapped to do things like have your opponent record themselves kicking, blocking, punching fireball in or whatever the hell… This isn’t basic enough for me

im confused - why would you use stmp > crmp > tatsu over stmp > stmp > hstp > hstk on punish? the second one is the same just does more damage right?
