Moulding trims should cover over both inner and outer panels.
Also why didn't you just re wire the end plug onto your broken wire? It was literally a few inches to the end of the cable

Thanks for the video, gonna do mine next week. I was wondering how much the adhesive would spread. Did you find the the tape on the outside isn’t required if you bead it in the right place? Can you add the trim later? I wonder what other options there are.
Also, folks may want to consider a heavy duty caulking gun. I had the same problem last year and then bought one with a 26:1 thrust ratio and the adhesive came out like butter.
Hey Pete! In hindsight, taping probably wasn't necessary around the top and sides but it's probably good to protect the area below in case anything drips. We were told it's really hard to clean the stuff up! We don't advise putting the trim on after. We think that could be challenging. You are so right about the heavy-duty caulk gun! If only we had realized that prior to starting. We definitely had a moment of panic where we thought we might not be able to get the adhesive applied in time! Let us know how your installation goes!
I was confused with trim edge as well, but as I understood it supposed to seat on both edges. But in the video on VWD their tech put it only on internal edge, I asked VWD and they said better to cover both edges by trim
Hey Victor! It's really interesting that you point that out! At first we tried to put the trim over both edges but had a really hard time with it. It just didn't seem physically possible when we tried it and also seemed like it would impede contact between glass and metal in some spots. And VWD's own video (czcams.com/video/C6a5j0IPrNA/video.html) showed only doing the inside edge, so that's what we did! We did see videos where they did it the same way that you did. So perhaps '6 of one, half dozen of the other.' It seems that the trim is more for aesthetics so hopefully either way is just fine!
Great video! Can you share links to where you bought your window? and maybe other things needed for install? was the moulding included with your window purchase?
Hi Kristin, thanks so much for watching and that's a great question. I had forgotten that I had not included the links in the description already. Here are links to what we bought through VanWindowsDirect.com, below. We bought everything through them, and they were very helpful in answering any questions we had. You may have to look at other products depending on the make of your van and the side you plan to install the window on. They have different windows for different van heights and driver/passenger side. The only other products that I can think of are saw with blade for metal, painter's tape for holding it in place while the adhesive cures and rubbing alcohol for cleaning the surface before applying the primer. And make sure you have a good caulk gun!

Your videos are timely for me. My 2022 High Roof extended is due any day and I need to order windows. I was considering both the CR Lawrence you have on the passenger side and the AMA half slider. Have read some mixed reviews on the CRL, especially with the vents not opening evenly or far. Also, some complaints about quality issues. Given that you've used both, any advice? I like the idea of open in the rain, but I like the big air area of the slider, too.
Hey Lee! We're so glad our videos can be of help. How exciting that you will have your van soon! We love our van! Honestly, if you are looking to do a window on each side, we recommend one of each. We haven't had problems with either of them, but we are so glad we have both because they each have pros and cons. If you had to choose one, we would recommend the CRL t-vent though because of the fact that you can have it open in any weather and can leave it cracked open even when you're not in the van. Depending on where we are, we sometimes leave both open but the AMA is definitely not as secure and provides less privacy when open. With the roof vent and t-vent window we get a nice flow of air. The AMA is a nice bonus when we're in a place where we can open it up! Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions!

Do you think drilling a whole bunch and jigsawing from the outside would have saved you some jigsaw blades? Just curious of any gotchas with that approach I’d you avoided it. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Chris, that's definitely a possibility but we felt more comfortable being able to see exactly what we were up against and to try to be as precise as possible. Also, it's easy to scratch the paint with the foot of the jigsaw so we wanted to avoid doing that on the outside. It's been awhile since we did this but we think we only broke one blade so we felt like it was okay for us doing it that way.
Thanks for the video. I just installed the same window and had a couple of questions. Did you use more than one tube of sealant? And did you notice the window having more of a bulge out on the front and rear center edge? After installing mine I needed to add more sealant from the inside on the front center. Thx!
Hi Ken! Thanks for watching. We did not use more than one tube of sealant and we didn't notice a bulge on ours. We're sorry to hear that you had trouble with yours. Did you install the window in a Transit? As shown in the video, we had a hard time applying the sealant but we've had no problems (no leaks or abnormalities) since we installed it.
@@SteveAudra thanks for the reply. Yeah, it's a Transit. Hopefully I got enough of it on there to prevent any leaks or it to go flying off on the highway. And yes, that sealant was nearly impossible to get out of the tube, with it being 45 degrees when I did it probably didn't help any. Keep up the good work!

Now you're going to make us have to go back and watch our own videos to get the references to your comments! 😆 We learned from cutting the first two holes but the windows were very different so each had their own set of challenges. We certainly panicked when Steve had a hard time getting the sealant out of the caulk gun. That could have gone horribly wrong. And those windows aren't cheap!
