You and I spent an evening in chicago after a concert in the suburbs at a small pub...you were travelling with your family financing your trip by playing, as we all do, and I was writing for a small music newspaper...I wrote up our interview and became a huge local celebrity...lol ...but as time passes, I realise I spent an evening with Mozart...
Been listening and learning from Mr Wakemam since 1975, thank you sir for sharing your genius with us. Without musicians/composers/artists/real people like you, where would we be? Your always the best in my world anyway. How reassuring to know your insatiable appeatite for music remains so strong. Thank you again and bless you.
Like I was myself as well... As a matter of fact, it was during that time that I heard Clair De Lune for the first time....PLAYED BY ELP, courtesy of Mr Keith Emerson..another greatest in this sort of thing.....It was funny because I had no knowledge on classical music at all in those days..But, come the '80s I reeeally got into it. 😎 Thanks to the prog guys from the early '70s... Thank you Mr Wakeman..👍
hello rick, we have seen you and your son live in Liverpool at the philharmonic, and we looking forward to seeing you again, soon, i have your tribute to the beatless cd, and i was wandering can i upload it to CZcams for other people to enjoy your music?
So I went to purchase “Live Portraits” and, well, to be quite me, Frank, it’s impossible to bloody find. So I went to my Amazon prime to at least rent the video…..oh WTF, my device is not compliant and my internet connection is not good enough. Someone please tell me why things are so lovely these days. Not! I could rant for hours on how we actually have gone backwards thanks to overly abundant capitalism, but I will spare you. And never tell me millennials know how to program eloquently. Anyone who has used HULU knows they can’t make an interface that is logical and well, just plain logical. So sorry Rick, I will just have to enjoy a few youtube snippets as they appear and be happy. This world and one more and it will all be the Fourth of July .
Clair de Lune, not Clare du lune, was composed by Debussy, not Chopin. Much as I enormously admire Rick, I don't think he properly understands the beauty of Clair de Lune - certainly this allegro hodgepodge does nothing for me.
You got all the large problems. But you missed saying that, as usual, he does the easiest ornaments pianisticaly possible (arpegiate where his hand already is, just run an easy scale between two notes, etc) something he has done his whole career. Vladimir Horowitz he is not. Valentina Lisitsa he is not. Keith Emerson even he is not. I liked Yes. And Six Wives. But this shmaltzy crap is useless. Clair de Lune is beautiful. Too bad he ruined it. Sorry Rick. Chopin indeed!!!
Wakeman plays Debussy. Two giants in contemporary music. I am so moved.

Dunno what Fed Chopin had to with letting you do this and what Claude would say of it but it is indisputably well played sir Rick.
OMG Rick plays so beautiful it makes me cry.
Mr. Wakeman you are a genius of music 🙏
There is still grace and beauty in the world :)
Absolutely beautiful. I was moved to tears.
One of my absolute fav’s, especially when played by Rick. 🎶❤️🎶
My favorite keyboardist playing my favorite composer…….life is good.
I’d love to hear some more Debussy. Girl with flaxen hair or reverie perhaps?
Огромное спасибо Вам за ваш талант, и за Вашу музыку!
Very nice Rick you played it well
So very beautiful. Thank you for that beautiful way to start my day.
The MASTER! 🎹🎹🎹
Nicely filmed. Heads up to the overall production.. Splendid stuff Rick.
I had to save that performance so that I can listen to it many times over. So it is possible to gild the lily, musically speaking!
Bravissimo, one giant speaks the language of another!
Keyboard King 🎹
One word: Sublime.
Hermoso!!
Very nice Rick. A beautiful piece of music.
LINDO .....!!!! MARAVILHOSO !!🙏👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎼🤩🎼
Como lo amoooo
BRAVO! 👏😅
A joy, to see and hear. Do you think those people in the audience were all Yes hippies from the 70’s? I know I was.
Like I was myself as well...

Very nice, but I don't know why he doesn't play the entire song
RICK PLEASE CAN YOU PLAY ERICK SATIE'S GYMNOPEDIES
The grand piano. Chopin, by Wakeman.
What more to say?
That Clair de Lune was written by Claude Debussy...
Rick had a brain fart or a joke.
What was the Chopin comment about @ :22?
I think it was a test to see if we were paying attention!
@@wiseoldfool Could be! I can't imagine him making a blunder like that!
It is "Clair de lune" by Debussy (not clare du lune). What has Chopin do with it?
It's in the tempo.
Magic..... Although Next time A little less Knuckles and a bit more of the Fingertips..😃😃All The Best
At least he knows the proper position for his hands, wrists and fingertips (at least in my humble opinion).
@@monicadriscoll645 Monica its A joke I am A big fan Of Ricks.Don't take life so Serious
@@pauljackson0121 I guess Monica doesn't know how much of a prankster Mr. Wakeman is! 😆
Sorry, sometimes it's difficult to recognize sarcasm in print!😏 I grew up with a dad who sometimes made Don Rickles sound tame!🥰
@@monicadriscoll645 It's OK Monica no Worries,I love Don Rickles,Mr Warmth..LOL Take Carexx
I think the Chopin comment was just Rick being Rick? 🤷🏻♂️
Oh...It's Clair de lune
Ah, now I understand the 'Chopin' comment from Rick now... (Hint: 'borrowing' music that has gone before.... Hint: Chopin's Nocturne Op 9 No 2...)
Heheheehe Godzilla, King of the Monsters vibe

Chopin is good about giving permission, I hear. Mrs. Pachelbel, however...
I guess it's another of your jokes dear RICK , Clair de lune was written by CLAUDE DEBUSSY , not by Frédéric CHOPIN !
