Kreisler's adaptation of the third movement is also very beautiful to listen.

Excellent version of this rather well-known trio of J; Haydn.

New to Haydn but beginning to see the genius of his music, a more straightforward approach than Mozart.

Listen and learn a little bit longer, and you will firstly begin to understand the differences between these two first rank composers; and secondly, you will want to delete this very simplistic comment.
Enjoy the journey, these are two fantastic composers.

@@elaineblackhurst1509 why would anyone delete their comments... Lolz... You really can't stand some comments on CZcams, can you? You post everywhere criticizing Haydn fans who may not understand Mozart.
Mediocre half wits.. How dare they post something which strikes so wrong to an erudite authority like me. Those thoughts are so bad, they deserve not just death but suicide. Lolz.

These piano trios are not straightforward, or simplistic, that was the point being made.
For a scholarly discussion of the trios, a good starting place is Charles Rosen’s standard text on the music of the period ‘The Classical Style’ (1971).
It’s helpful to point casual listeners towards a better understanding of music they enjoy - something most people appreciate.
Thank you for raising me to the levels of ‘erudite authority’ - a wholly unwarranted title; I am as much an amateur and dilettante as yourself, however, I do know what I am talking about.
Your point about me ‘...criticising Haydn fans who may not understand Mozart’, suggests that you have neither read nor understood much of what I have written anywhere.
One final point - do you regard these Haydn piano trios as straightforward, and would you too suggest the commentator listen again?

    Ah, bravo Haydn! Wonderfully executed!

Wonderful! The slow movement actually has an extended solo for the cello! I have always been disappointed with the way that classical period chamber music makes the cello small part of the music.

Hi Brian, where can i find that cello part you describe at? all really apreciate it. :)

I am amateur listener of classical music (started listening intensively 3 months back), but you seem to be so right.
I think there is a string quartet though, in which Haydn let the Cello lead on some parts, specifically because the Prince would be playing the cello.
