Trout Fishing Detroit Lake in Oregon! I Catching FAT Rainbow Trout (Dam Donkeys) with a Crab Ring!

- My friend Frank and I took another trip to Detroit Lake in Oregon to target some fat trophy trout off the Dam. We had another incredible day and caught a ton of fish with the help of a crab ring to assure our catch made it safely up the Dam without breaking off. Such a thrill!
We highly encourage you to go check out Detroit Lake and what it has to offer. The fishing is hard to beat and is only a short drive from Salem and surrounding areas.
We have lots more footage from Detroit Lake to share with you but will make sure to fill in some weeks with other content to break it up. We felt like posting this now might help you all get out and find some quality fish during the 4th of July Holiday weekend.
We hope you enjoy this video!
Thanks for watching!
Stay tuned for the next adventure!
We do not own the music in the video.

Have you guys recently heard a guy yelling "cheesebait" from the truck while passing the dam on the highway?
If so, that was me. Sorry, not sorry. 😅
Nice fish!!! Gotta love ol' Detroit!
That's hilarious! We go to the far side of the dam so we haven't heard it unfortunately 😂 but we'll be listening extra close now..
Those were some really nice fish! Great job. Thanks much for sharing your video.
@@michaelmcdonald6727 Thanks Michael!

Thanks! 🙏
My dad and boy went up there today when I was at work , he was looking for you
@@mattstainbrook8685 Just missed us!
DAMtastic!!
@@Oregontrailblazin 🤙🎣😁
How long of a lead are you running? Went out today and wasn't having any luck with a bobber but caught a nice 14.5 inch just dropping weight.
8-12 feet but that's been a few weeks back. Early morning or late evening is best and maybe at this point the fish are starting to run a little deeper. And later July and August I switch up and fish deeper until I find willing fish
@@northwestweekenders yeah that makes sense. I'd say I probably had mine down about 20 feet or so
@@Burkholder1994 sounds about right as well! I'll usually catch anywhere from 20 to 60 ft later in summer. Sometimes I'll go super deep- over 100 and catch some as well. Good luck out there!
Caught my limit all were 16 or better last week
@@robertward854 nice! 🎣 The fishing has been incredible the last few weeks. Good luck out there!
I just went to Faraday lake it was too hot so no fish…
@@bigtimeben1324 It happens. The heat and increasing water temperatures can quickly shut off a bite. Good luck! 🎣
I didn’t get to go last week but is it 1:30 hours from Tigard?
Yes! 👍
What were you using for bait
@@rubencontreras4463 worms and power eggs.
Did they just stock it?
@@user-gt2sg2yq9c The last stocking of the year was in late June. There were several stockings over the last month and a half or so.
Friend, what is this address? Thank you

You guys gonna be mad if I bring the grandkids for the day???
@@JosePlata not at all. Bring them out while the bite is on fire!
What do you call that net?
@@AlbertoKempis We normally use an old crab ring but this one is just a crab ring off of Amazon for under $40.
@@northwestweekenders Thank you.
Average trout guys not fat or big
@@user-ju8yo7rt2w I realize they have put in thousands of these trophy sized Trout, so although they may be "average" for this body of water, they are still fat/big in my opinion.
Lots of people who don't fish often or who have never fished this body of water are very surprised and happy when they hook into one of these. For years, it was just legal stockings so having only trophy plantings now is very unique and a great opportunity. That's who these videos are for.
what bait were ya using.
