Alpha Performance 2014 E63 AMG 4Matic Runs Back to Back 10 Second Passes

- On June 26th we took our 2014 Mercedes E63 AMG 4Matic to Great Lakes Dragway for some preliminary testing of the Alpha 7 upgrade package. Track conditions were not ideal with the temperature somewhat pleasant in the 60's but accompanied by 100% humidity. When the track lights switched on at dusk you could see the moisture in the air!
Our AMG was equipped with only our Alpha Tune and prototype Alpha Downpipes and Cat-Back Exhaust. The full Alpha 7 Bi-Turbo upgrade will include an Alpha Boost Cooler Kit in the future but we were eager to see the results of just a tune and exhaust. Rolling on 20" Vorsteiner wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires we were hopeful for a very low 11 second run, but ended up with the first E63 4Matic in the 10's!
First pass of the night Paul staged the car, applied the brakes and gave it a bit of throttle, the launch was undramatic, smooth with no tire spin. When the board lit up we were a bit surprised, 10.850 @ 129.31 MPH, setting a new AMG 4Matic record! After letting the car cool down we staged it for another run, the car launched exactly the same as the first pass, hard with no drama and lit the board up with a 10.879 @ 129.21 MPH. Talk about consistency!
Overall we are very pleased with the results from the night's testing. Once the M157 Alpha Turbo Cooler Kit and Carbon Fiber Intake System are complete we will bring the car back to the track for another round of testing and hopefully hit 130+mph trap along with a mid-low 10 second pass!

As an E63 S AMG owner I call BS on this in that not all is being told here...at approximately 44 sec into video where you see the dash gages listen to the car shift....you can here a Anti Surge valve or BOV after each shift. So the BS is there was more modifications than just a tune, prototype down pipes and exhaust. Not trying to say that the BOV is adding power but it does allow for a quicker turbo response thus allowing a tuner to increase boost and thus a better run time. They should have listed all mods regardless. My two cents worth. Thanks.

Congrats.. i actually left you guys a few messages about a month or 2 ago in regards to the 4-matic e63.. Looking to get one sometime this year, wanted to see how the progress was coming along.. so far so good.

i've had my 2015 E63S for about 6 months now and been exploring tuning companies and the AMS results for 1/4 mile here with just tune and exhaust seems to top all the others (Renntech, Weistec, etc).
AMS - Curious were any of these 1/4 mile runs in this video from a couple years ago done using Race Start?? That seems to most consistently provide the best launch vs brake torque with S+ and traction control off (vs Sport mode as required by Race Start) but you got great times with just brake torque.
Any runs done with a tune only E63?

how much can these engines take before needing to upgrade internals? so far these engines are making insane number with little done to it

Doesn't sound like they are using the launch control? I don't hear the engine revving....
I currently have a tune by Renntech rated at 710 hp at the flywheel however I went out to the track last night and the fastest race with launch control was 11.6 @ 120. That is literally how fast my car was when it was stock. If I get a tune by AMS, will mine be like the one in this video? 10 sec passes at higher trap speeds and all? I have a 2014 E63 AMG 4MATIC
Burnin rubber Our test was done with a tune, downpipes and catback exhaust system so your E63 would not run the same numbers. However, yours on a tune alone should perform better than 11.6@120mph which is unusual. I would contact Renntech and see if they can diagnose your problem. If they can't help you, give us a call. Your issue could also be attributed to something other than the tune itself.

appreciate the response. i spoke with Mr.Gaudi at AMS. Renntech deviously has yet to respond to any of my complaints leading me to think somethings up. Im going to get the car dynoed soon hopefully
i wonder if the RWD E63 would have trapped higher mph with the same mods?

So with a tune does lauching off idle normally provide the best times?
Seems like brake boost/LC is not safe and may be produce a slower time anyway as it makes the TCU freak out and cut more power off than just launching off ide.

A 1.6 60 foot is a pretty hard launch for street tires. The torque Management is real, but it's not as intrusive as you think.
xCobi the 4matic system they use is very efficient, it barely loses power compared to rwd, maybe 1-2mph less at most.
Why buy a F90 M5 when can have this save a staggering $120k

yea but i always thought that the amg line was always rear wheel drive
FishFind3000 It was always,but seeing that other car manufacturers like AUDI is doing fine with their RS 4WD.mercedes decided also to make 4wd.And these AMG 4WD are absolutely monsters.Maybe they made 4wd for other reasons,but this is one of 'em!
with AWD they can launch off the line really well that's why you don't see as much or any wheel spin

1.6x 60 foot. What do you want them to "work on?" It won't get better unless you ditch the stock tires.

Wrong dumb fuck, the car didn't only have a tune. The E63 S will break 9s before the RS7P does.

For you to say it's faster is ignorant, as if to say this car has reached stage 3 like APR's 10.4 car.
