Cutter and the Spirit of Fire are gonna be fighting an uphill battle. Their weapons, vehicles, and equipment are 30 years out of date, fighting a fresh new faction of the Covenant led by a brilliant tactician. Feels like the old days, with humans as the underdogs once more.

(Bungie had 3 variants of the Assault Rifle in their halo games) You're free to disagree, of course, but I know it would feel out of place for the UNSC not to incorporate alien tech into their arsenal, seeing how woefully unprepared they were for the Covenant. It makes sense, and if you explore the lore, each Spartan armor variant has it's purpose, and Bungie started that with the multiplayer allowing customization. It does not destroy the story, so your statement kinda feels like an overreaction, but it's your opinion, so we'll agree to disagree.
I love the imagery that all this battle is happening and yet throughout it all, the two leaders just stand and stare at each other. It's just really amazing.
They finally got the style perfect. More militaristic than 4 & 5, and Atriox looks badass. Hopefully They keep this style for 6, I look forward to a new brute/elite based enemy army.
That's because they were in cryo sleep after Halo Wars 1. Halo Wars 1 had the style of Halo 3 so it makes sense to keep the old style. I don't think they will keep the style in Halo 6 sadly.

This Trailer perfectly represents all the UNSC's Branches. Marine - The First ones in the last ones out ODST - Helljumped straight into action Spartans - One goal in mind, the preservation of humanity even if they have to smash some Brutes skull to do it.
This is quite possibly the best Halo trailer in a long, long time. It has the feeling that made us all fall in love with Halo originally; an uphill and desperate battle against an insurmountable and seemingly invincible enemy. And by that, I mean it's not Halo 4 or 5; which in and of itself is an amazing quality.
I had trouble enjoying halo 4, and have yet to but 5, but I get what you're saying . It has the feeling of desperation behind it, where the fight feels like it is for our very lives. In my opinion halo wars was a greatly under appreciated game, and showed just how much actually went into the war behind the scenes. They didnt fight planet by planet, the covenant at the time were doing a blitzkrieg, and this scene captures that all in one.
I'm happy in that they're using halo 3 armor instead of halo 4s and 5s armor which was worse. The art style at least for the cutscenes is dark. Actual in game art style is happy fun time bright colors and the units look like blobs of potato given form and armor. Other then that halo wars 2 looks good.

Best Halo trailer in a LONG time. Gave me chills the whole way through. I love how they took the strategy feel and put it straight into the trailer with you as cutter or Atroix and how the battle is happening all around you. It's amazing.
Remember halo 1? Humans were inferior compared to the alien races they faced. The flood was terrifying. Always a scramble for your average marine to stay alive.
Joel Jimmy but it does make sense.... The prophets hand was failing after the defeat of the didact and the unsc and sos pushed them back. With this they found the location of mdama and took him out. They also needed a way to bring Halsey back. What could you have done with his character?
Though you have good points, 'Mdama could have been a fantastic minor villain for the series. He had a very interesting back story in the books and many hardcore Sangheili and even just big readers of the books can attest to this. Just a shame for him to go out to such an undeveloped and uninteresting character.
this trailer is awesome. it shows that years and years of fighting the aliens isn't a huge surprise . both sides are used to the other and yet each still fight on. humans vs covenant. at its best.

At 1:49 on the left there’s a freaking Marine holding one Elites hand keeping him from using his sword and then using his other hand to use his shotgun and blast another Elite in the face, two years and I just saw it. Johnson would be proud.
I love the way they try to keep the style of the first Halo Wars, every scene reminds me of it. The appearance of the Marines is the same, Mjolnir looks the same. Love it!
See? 343i's redesigns aren't _just_ redesigns, they keep them where canon allows them. Because the Spirit of Fire has been isolated, they still have 2531 equipment and vehicles, and Spartan-IIs!
I dont know if you know this but in the first Halo Wars, scorpions upgraded to just the canister shell were much more powerful than Grizzly tanks. However, the grizzly looks way cooler imo.
Bakes 13 correction: scorpions upgraded to power turret dish out more damage than grizzlies. However grizzlies take more damage. If you put1 scorpion vs 1 grizzly ,the scorpion will win. I'm not sure why the devs coded it this way, but I think it was a mistake.
I remember back in the old Halo Wars saving up resources and building a large army of grizzlie tanks and wolverines only to get jumped at my own base and lose most of them...
Trailers like this are why Halo would make a great movie. It just needs a director and writer willing to stick to the material instead of trying to do their own thing. Halo doesn't need it.

The Halo Shows that came out were good but they were also boring because what the story was about and if they did some big story about a Halo Wars type game it would be awesome or something like the Mastercheif and Reach games but instead they do ones about boot camp or chasing pirates to blown up rings.

Yes x 1000. Everything from the Elites, Spartans, Marines, and the weapons like the classic Battle Rifle look amazing here. They just need to do this in Halo 6.
As time goes on the technology changes, which is why everything looks so different. That being said the Elites are still flatfaced like they were in H2A.
***** I think part of that stems from the art directors from Halo 3 to Reach, and then from Reach to Halo 4. As the leap from Halo Reach to Halo 4 was mainly because of a shift in developers. Also, I think the two Star Wars trilogies all around look pretty different.

Probably not, this game isn't made by 343i it's being made by Creative assembly, this is probably just a one time thing and when 343 releases halo 6 it will be back to the Halo 4 and 5 style.
I think Halo 4 and 5 feel the most like Halo (in comparison to Reach and ODST), I'm not saying those are bad games, I'm saying that they had a different feel to them, but I loved them nonetheless.

All the art style is very weird with the pointless detail to the railing on all vehicles that don't need them compared to other halos that had a clean look. The only art style change I like from halo 4-5 is the forerunner art because it sticks out and is somewhat simple. Other than that, halo 1-odst (and halo wars 2) are better at art having art style. Side note: the recent art style is inconsistent.
I think it’s badass that cutter and atriox walk through this battle watching their troops die and their vehicles get destroyed and when they meet each other in the middle they just stare at each other.

Why is it that the trailers like these look so gorgeous that it should turn into a movie...I mean make a movie base on just cgi and animation and not use real life action. If people say it cost a lot ok i can understand the amount of animating this but I'm just saying that they can make a heck of a lot of money if they do this. This goes for the SWTOR trailer that could had been a a good movie. But still love the first Halo Wars now we get to do it again is nice.
You get into Uncanny valley territory there. Why make a CG film look so lifelike when it could be cheaper to make live action. Kinda the problem films like Polar Express faced.
Darth Cinema That is one strong argument. A good reason for full CG though in my opinion is that if the whole film is CG, it will not look so out of place. Some movies are able to blend live action and CG seamlessly but sometimes those CG effects can look very out of place. With full CG, I feel your only limit would be budget and can be more freeing than being confined to reality at times. Kind of how cartoons can get away with exaggerations and things. Sadly, I think full CG films are still too expensive to make right now. We will see with how Final Fantasy Kingsglave does. Looks like the most expensive movie I have seen.
I will ALWAYS stand by Halo for all the memories it gave me and my friends. Some have passed on, but the times we shared in Halo are forever. I hope Halo finds its way back to the top of the gaming industries one day. Until then, i-and millions of other spartans-will be standing by
Very true. These soldiers have armor that resembles Halo 2 Anniversary armor, and according to lore their armor remained mostly the same up until Halo 3. Those in Halo Wars looked similar to this, just this is more of an "updated version".
I still think they should have just kept the original design, they would still have their millions of fans if they did. Halo Wars 2 will do AMAZING, and sell WELL ABOVE Halo 5, because it will stick to the original Halo which was the untouched leader.
No; 343 shouldn't limit themselves because of sentiment. You know what we get when 343 tries to appeal to fan sentiment? We got Cortana resurrected. It is bad development to tailor your game to the way it is because of the fans' wishes. They wanted to distinctualize themselves. And I'm perfectly fine with that; we've seen, for example, the classic battle rifle, about 6 times now. Give us some new experiences and new stuff. It's like when people buy a vacation home some where. _WHY?!_ The joy of going on a vacation is to see NEW PLACES , not to limit yourself to one place _every single year_ .

I assume 343 will be writing the story and providing the artistic assets, like the warthogs and the general art style. Although it's a worry if Bryan Reed is writing the story. Otherwise though, it's Creative Assembly. This is a good decision. 343 is only just learning how to make FPS games. I shudder to think of what would happen if they decided to try RTS now.

If this were 343 I would be happy with them that they have finally seen the light, but 343 is not helping develop this game... so I'm still disappointed with them.
I knew they would at least oversee it's creation, but they are not directly creating it... it's like a parent watching a child draw a picture... a really complicated picture.
I think this is actually the Creative Assembly and not 343. CA are developing the game, at the very least, so they probably made the cinematic too. CA are the developers of the Total War RTS series, although this may be a different team than those that made Shogun 2 or TW Warhammer

Nobody said that. It was assumed from the beginning the project was conceived because that's _what the lore entails_ . Spartans, weapons, everything are all the models from 2531, rather than the upgraded tech from 2553+.
it's the old style because its the old equipment. The UNCS in this are from a ship that's been drifting in space since before the fall of reach. they never got the new style of weapons and vehicles.

Eh, Reach had too many stupid and avoidable deaths to have that feeling (aside from a few missions.) 1, 2, 3, and ODST were what I was referring to.

The prophets hand was failing after the defeat of the didact and the unsc and sos pushed them back. With this they found the location of mdama and took him out.

Though you have good points, 'Mdama could have been a fantastic minor villain for the series. He had a very interesting back story in the books and many hardcore Sangheili and even just big readers of the books can attest to this. Just a shame for him to go out to such an undeveloped and uninteresting character.
this trailer is awesome. it shows that years and years of fighting the aliens isn't a huge surprise . both sides are used to the other and yet each still fight on. humans vs covenant. at its best.
it also shows that both sides respect each other because both sides have had major victories and they fight as equals.

I dont know if you know this but in the first Halo Wars, scorpions upgraded to just the canister shell were much more powerful than Grizzly tanks. However, the grizzly looks way cooler imo.

I remember back in the old Halo Wars saving up resources and building a large army of grizzlie tanks and wolverines only to get jumped at my own base and lose most of them...

The Halo Shows that came out were good but they were also boring because what the story was about and if they did some big story about a Halo Wars type game it would be awesome or something like the Mastercheif and Reach games but instead they do ones about boot camp or chasing pirates to blown up rings.

Yes x 1000. Everything from the Elites, Spartans, Marines, and the weapons like the classic Battle Rifle look amazing here. They just need to do this in Halo 6.
As time goes on the technology changes, which is why everything looks so different.
That being said the Elites are still flatfaced like they were in H2A.
They didnt have to make such a big leap though. look at every star wars film. there is a consistent art. play halo 1 & then 5, completely different.

***** I think part of that stems from the art directors from Halo 3 to Reach, and then from Reach to Halo 4. As the leap from Halo Reach to Halo 4 was mainly because of a shift in developers. Also, I think the two Star Wars trilogies all around look pretty different.

I think Halo 4 and 5 feel the most like Halo (in comparison to Reach and ODST), I'm not saying those are bad games, I'm saying that they had a different feel to them, but I loved them nonetheless.

All the art style is very weird with the pointless detail to the railing on all vehicles that don't need them compared to other halos that had a clean look. The only art style change I like from halo 4-5 is the forerunner art because it sticks out and is somewhat simple. Other than that, halo 1-odst (and halo wars 2) are better at art having art style.
Side note: the recent art style is inconsistent.

Why is it that the trailers like these look so gorgeous that it should turn into a movie...I mean make a movie base on just cgi and animation and not use real life action. If people say it cost a lot ok i can understand the amount of animating this but I'm just saying that they can make a heck of a lot of money if they do this. You get into Uncanny valley territory there. Why make a CG film look so lifelike when it could be cheaper to make live action. Kinda the problem films like Polar Express faced.
Darth Cinema That is one strong argument. A good reason for full CG though in my opinion is that if the whole film is CG, it will not look so out of place. Some movies are able to blend live action and CG seamlessly but sometimes those CG effects can look very out of place. With full CG, I feel your only limit would be budget and can be more freeing than being confined to reality at times. Kind of how cartoons can get away with exaggerations and things. Sadly, I think full CG films are still too expensive to make right now. We will see with how Final Fantasy Kingsglave does. Looks like the most expensive movie I have seen.

Very true. These soldiers have armor that resembles Halo 2 Anniversary armor, and according to lore their armor remained mostly the same up until Halo 3. Those in Halo Wars looked similar to this, just this is more of an "updated version".
I still think they should have just kept the original design, they would still have their millions of fans if they did. Halo Wars 2 will do AMAZING, and sell WELL ABOVE Halo 5, because it will stick to the original Halo which was the untouched leader.

+CZcams's Finest I feel you, but the one problem is that if we keep the nostalgia, and all of the old stuff around, eventually people will bash Halo for becoming anothee CoD that just copy pastes and recycles instead of moving on and innovating, and if 343 innovates, then they get bashed for changing the Halo formula claiming that they are destroying the game, sure, they could keep some of the old stuff around and still innovate, but they'll get bashed anyways, one thing I do not like, is the new campaing and all of the hype they did with it for Halo 5, and I keep wondering why they didn't just keep the halo 3 ranking system when everyone knows it was amazing.

Otherwise though, it's Creative Assembly. This is a good decision. 343 is only just learning how to make FPS games. I shudder to think of what would happen if they decided to try RTS now.

I think this is actually the Creative Assembly and not 343. CA are developing the game, at the very least, so they probably made the cinematic too. CA are the developers of the Total War RTS series, although this may be a different team than those that made Shogun 2 or TW Warhammer

Nobody said that. It was assumed from the beginning the project was conceived because that's _what the lore entails_ . Spartans, weapons, everything are all the models from 2531, rather than the upgraded tech from 2553+.
Here's to hoping someone takes a lesson from it. Finds a good way to mesh old styles with new styles.
it's the old style because its the old equipment. The UNCS in this are from a ship that's been drifting in space since before the fall of reach. they never got the new style of weapons and vehicles.
