Great comment by Bryan regarding the RE Broker concept about becoming a Certified Appraiser, several of us seasoned appraisers would welcome people of this type into our firm, where as we are at a current stage of life is not possible to train them daily over the next 2 to 3 yrs. Great Idea, Mike Sims

I’m someone considering signing up for AI PAREA. I have some mixed feelings about it but feel stuck because finding a mentor is next to impossible. Maybe once I get through PAREA and pass my national exam I can link up with a experienced appraiser and splint fees. 75% to him, 25% to me for a year or so.

It is hard to find a mentor because they have to be take extra education for the state to be a mentor, There is liability with trainees, There is little to no financial return to training someone, and the biggest reason is they don't want to train their competition. Not a lot of incentives to train anyone.

      @@senecastrong4986 yes I get it - it’s really brutal.
What are your thoughts on doing PAREA to get your license? It’s $4500 in California- want to make a good decision here

The real estate brokerage model is a poor one. Brokers don't supervise their agents. I could go into this in detail but it's not beneficial to appraisers.
