- The aria 'Zerfließe, mein Herze' from St John Passion, performed by the Nederlands Bach Society for All of Bach. The St John Passion was the first Passion Bach had written as cantor in Leipzig. The Passion story as told in the Gospel of John is different from that told by the other three evangelists - Matthew, Luke and Mark. John’s version places the emphasis on Christ’s divine origin. Throughout his suffering, this divine origin still plays a role and nowhere is Jesus as human as in the other gospels.
For this performance, we selected a cast of singers under the age of 35. Apart from the leaders, all the orchestra members are also younger than 35. The concert series was preceded by a course of auditions and masterclasses.

Music doesn't really get better than this aria, and this performance is absolutely stunning in is clarity of expression. The tempo is dignified without being plodding, the woodwind obbligato parts are beautifully executed, and the long phrasing and exquisite tone of the soprano part is perfection itself. I know it's several years old at this point, but congratulations on a job very, very well done.
Bach, come back, we all miss you.

This Aria is performed so beautifully and in such a touching way that it is beyond words.
I keep coming back to this rendition of this aria; utterly as heartbreaking as it is beautiful. Maria Valdmaa has done it perfectly.

My thoughts EXACTLY
I can listen to this song again and again and wonder how this person J.S. Bach could copy all this music from heaven. Late August Everding mentioned it once with Mozart. Indeed nobody can describe the ecstasy of feelings in any words when we listen to music. So the Indian spiritual concept that our Mahashakti or Mother of God created once the world of music and very few of us humans get before birth from Her an intuition key to this world by which these chosen ones can enter this world and what they hear there can copy and put in notes for us, this concept is to my understanding true.
So kann nur Bach komponieren. Zuerst kommt Bach, dann lange Zeit nichts und dann der Rest.
Bach ist Alpha und Omega! ☺️

Bach had been given a key to enter the divine world of music before his birth and with this key of intuotion he copied what he heard in this world hidden to us. Late August Everding had this viel when he remarked that Mozart had copied one piece of his music from heaven because no human is able to create such brilliance of music. For the Indians it is natural that the Divine in Mahashakti created all music and that a few of us get her key to this world.

The singer's own heart is obviously not dissolving in tears. Such a pity; this aria can otherwise move one to tears.
I had in mind to write a review saying she did indeed have that. If she lacked the degree the previous reviewer wanted, it's because you need to maintain a level of professionalism when performing at that level

Singer under 35 OK why not but some instrumentists clearing above 70 #shrieking and #low flutes ...
