  • Texas State Commissioner of Education gutted Houston Independent School District superintendent and board of education trustees in 2023 after a law allowed the state to remove the board of districts with schools failing to meet specific state standards.
    This year, Superintendent Mike Miles and the HISD Board of Managers unanimously approved a measure allowing the district to cut dozens of staff and teaching positions, including Houston ISD Principal of the Year, as part of a "reduction in force" before the beginning of the 2024-25 school year.
    Texas State Representatives Jarvis Johnson and Jolanda Jones about the outrageous cuts decimating the Houston Independent School District.

    The missing money was sent out of state by the new Superintendent making the cuts. He runs a web of ISD schools, and used HISD’s money to fund failing ISD’s in COLORADO. He’s like the Louis Dejoy of the Texas education system. Heard all this online this AM. 50%of the budget was spent on ‘admistration’.

      I lean toward believing this account. Nonwhite school & community districts have been gutted by states (gubernatorial or legislative branches) for DECADES systematically.
      It’s unfortunate for individuals who are young-ish or new to policy. Their naĂŻvetĂ© is being used against them, but what will ultimately hurt the most is the realization that “powers” are in no way equal. That what they can do about it, eventually is to ‘simply’ leave, found an independently-funded school system, or burnout on trying to “remedy” systemic deception “changing the system from within the system,” which doesn’t work effectively nor efficiently, if at all.

    • @ou8r122
      @ou8r122 Pƙed 15 dny +4

      @pmboston They are always top heavy and bottom poor. He didn't give that money to fund failing ISD but gave it to private and charter schools in Colorado. Mississippi governor Tate did the exact same thing while many schools in Jackson were closed down because of it. Louisianans are facing the same problems in their state. These Democratic cities only funds rich Republican due to them being a Bipartisan Government. This is how you destroy the middle class and educate the rich off of their hard earned taxed money for free.

    • @pmboston
      @pmboston Pƙed 15 dny +5

      @@ou8r122 Yes, but he, personally, also runs those schools and used Texas state funds from his position in Texas government. How he got that position and who his friends are in the Texas legislature is worth looking at. All white legislatures are mostly a republican problem nowadays, but scams come at all of us all the time. And Louisiana isn’t Texas. What happened to the relatively prosperous black population of New Orleans still burns me when I think of it. Stay vigilant, and vote your interests, one of which is your right to be heard.

      There are schools connected to HISD that is already doing that and have the teachers doing janitorial work, being the register, teaching the class and practically doing it all while acting like they do nothing. And I bet to save money this is what they have planned bc most teachers are minorities now or from overseas who’s accustomed to being treated like crap. Americans never lived and worked hard like this in 1970s and 1980s they were reasonable the companies. Now they’re treating Americans like they live in a 3rd world country.
