I appreciate this video. My step-father brought home a 13 week old male rottie a few years ago, My sister & I took on training him and things were going very well. He would get kind of pushy as he got older but we had corrected it enough times, he grew out of being a jerk. He was our little 'brother'. He'd even protect our cats from everything. Even the glare from our glass doors lol. Fast forward, I moved out, my sister isn't home often and my parents spoiled and 'de-trained' him. They reward him when he does bad. When he shows aggression? he is praised, when he grabs something thats not his? he is given a treat- HE challenges everyone and isn't a worst case scenario but It hurt and made me angry to see my efforts all for nothing. I love him still, but I can continually retrain him, I correct him when I am home and he listens but it's like when I or my sister leave the room he becomes a jerk-- Thing is; I can't train my parents. I've been watching your videos for months now in preparation for my 10 week old rottiexshepherd - this video made me feel better about his occasionally reactional behavior within two minutes. It's very random that he reacts to things he can be tolerant of two seconds beforehand, and he's so smart, I thought he was just also a little crazy 😅
I was looking for videos to teach my 2 puppies and I found your videos and subscribed right away. I went and tried to teach my dog tricks and it worked. I love you vids.👍🏽
Cesar Millan is the BEST dog behaviourist. He uses a mix of positive and negative reinforcement, and although he does use dominance, the funny thing is.. it works! And it saves lives!! He works with much more extreme cases than Zak George and other dog "trainers" and he never gives up on a dog. Where's all your hate coming from? Cesar doesnt hurt the dogs, watch his TV programme and read his books, research him if you have to but if he "kicks" a dog it's a tap on it's side that happens to be with his foot. He can't tap the dog with his hand because he could get bitten. These dogs would be killed if it wasn't for Cesar. He saves many many lives and is very good and effective at what he does. I like positive reinforcement but when dealing with an aggressive dog, i believe that you should correct bad behaviour too, and then you can reward the good behaviour. Cesar Millan is my favourite by far, and he is my inspiration. Victoria Stillwell's ideas are good however i have seen that she gives up on dogs if her positive reinforcement doesn't work. She recommended a spaniel was put down because her positive work didn't work after 6 weeks. She prescribed a load of drugs to a dog she'd met once for a few minutes before she'd even tried any methods of training. (I have links to videos if you need proof) However, some of her methods are okay. Zak George is good with his positive reinforcement & he has very good and usually effective ideas. However, I've never seen him work with a case as serious as Cesar Millan's. He trains with basic obedience, puppy training, pulling on the lead and barking etc. Not with dogs that have bitten people badly or got in lots of fights with other dogs. Or dogs that are doing to be put down. We need Cesar Millan to help with those serious cases, so why would people go against him? He saves lives. Lives that have been ruined most likely by uneducated people.
Thank you. I am using this technique as I am watching. I about pulled my hair out with my Cane Corso as puppies and they were already started when I got them at 15 weeks. My Rottweiler is now just 8 weeks old.
Zak this Rott reminds me of my 3 month Newfoundland. I call her a tornado. My previous Newfie died at the age of 15 that's just 2 months ago and she was a darling. A contrary to my 3 month Newfie. All training had to be stopped immediately cos she underwent operations on both hind legs last week. I've had 45 dogs up to my 68 years and this is the last puppy I'll ever get and I had to get a "terror" at this old age of mine. Your videos are so helpful and full of entertainment. Love it. Wish you came to France. Thanks for sharing and caring. Your fan from France.
We just brought our puppy home on the 5th and I actually cried today because I feel like I’m going to fail as an owner somehow. I’ve been watching all of your videos on this playlist and I’m just so thankful. Link has been so good, I think I’m just afraid that I won’t teach him well.
Hi I love your channel and it helps me so much with everything I'm getting a puppy so I got your book to help me so thank you keep it up! (By the way I'm subscribed!) I love how patient you are with these puppies!!!
This is a great video. That is how my puppy acts. I thought it was aggression. I was really concerned. Thank you for all your fantastic videos and book.
My Rottweiler was sometimes like that as a puppy but we corrected her biting behavior and she turned out a calm adult. They need a lot of chew toys and running around/exercise as puppies to release their energy. IMO it's not the easiest dog to bring up and deffinitely needs training.
Zak I like it how you don’t edit out the bits where you get bitten because it makes you look like you don’t know what ur doing but the fact that he bites you and you keep it in the video makes you look like you know wat ur doing
I might get 1 in January and I’m honestly so excited!!! I’m trying to learn this because I don’t want it to be aggressive so imma learn as much as possible
That dude is a certified menace to society already😂😂 I thought my rottie was a piranha as a puppy🤣 but with proper reinforcement he will be an amazing amazing companion ♥️
I'm a beginner dog trainer and recently got a new client who has a high energy pitty puppy and I've gotten used to older dogs so I'm using his vids to get new ideas and skills on helping the owner with her puppy. I might possibly post vids with the owners permission of course.
This just makes me want my rottie to grow up already, I have a 8 weeks old puppy and he is so annoying, he just tries to eat everything on the ground outside and bites everything inside the house
@@shonkoren3773 dogs don't naturally grow out of bad habits. They only improve with a lot of good training, and since you clicked on this video I can also assume that's what you're doing. Keep up with the training ^^
8 week old puppys aren't "aggressive". every litter has a high energy pup or two along with some mellowed ones . he is a puppy who play bites because a ton of toys are being tossed in front of his face.
when I was younger my grandfather used to actually breed and sell rottys so at any given time the house was full of them and I used to name all the puppies and play with them all they still remain my favorite dog to this day
Huh. I LOVED watching Zak work with this puppy - but also, wow: That pup looks like he's going to need hard work if he's going to end up happy, sweet-tempered and dependable. Wouldn't his reaction to being pet and handled be something of a red flag, at least for someone looking for an easy-to-rear family mut? (BTW I don't mean Rotties generally but this particular critter.)
I agree. Regardless of breed, any reputable dog breeder will make sure their puppies are comfortable with being touched and handled by people, before they go home :/ luckily, this one is still young so he can still be socialized
Yeah. Since he will most likely grow up to be huge, he needs to learn to be 'obedient' and quick to listen otherwise he will grow up to injure someone (whether voluntarily or involuntarily)
I have 3 rottweilers and I've trained them all from watching your video's. Rottweilers are such amazing dogs but I am disappointed to see one with a docked tail. They're such smart and loyal dogs🐶❤️
I have two one year old dogs (one is almost two) and I’m currently going back to basics with them and one thing I never did with them when they were pups was redirecting them which I believe is a cause to a lot of problems I’ll definitely be starting doing this now !
Zak I have an 9 week old Blue Heeler puppy Winston. Winston knows how to sit, but he is so rough; biting, growling, and snapping that I can't get him to focus on me or the treats. I taught him to fetch just so I could get him focused on the toy I'm throwing, so I can get him away for a second! He is GREAT at fetch! I have bite marks everywhere, even my face cause he lunges. I have been watching your videos, and have tried them, but I get so frustrated cause his bites are not just play biting, they break skin and draw blood. I love my dog and want him to behave and not bite. When I walk to another room he follows and bites my feet or legs. When I set his food down he lunges, I am almost afraid of him when he gets this way. I have tried putting him in another room to let him calm down, but he barks and whines for 15-20 minutes. I don't want to let him out when he is barking or whining cause it would let him know to bark or whine to get what he wants. When he finally settles down, I let him out, play with him and try training again when he is calm, but it takes 2 minutes and he is wound up again! I have got to be doing something wrong, and I don't want to be afraid of him. My youngest daughter (12) won't even play with him anymore. I have had experience training puppies, I have had two Sheltie pups over my life time and I didn't have any problems training them. What can I do? Please help! Update: I started over in training after watching your first few videos. And what do you know...it's working. Before I didn't have a harness on him or leash cause we are in the house. I put a harness on him and it was night and day difference! He wasn't wild and just a little play biting. I worked with "sit" and "look at me". He know and loves tug of war, but he wouldn't play. He just wanted to lay in my lap or beside me and chew on his rope toy. I am so thankful to you for your videos and I'm going to buy your book, crate, and leash today. I am a truck driver and drive in the mid-western states and Winston is with me. I do have a problem with Winston sitting under or next to me driver seat by the door, which could be dangerous for him (it is an air-ride seat, it moves up and down with the bumps and motions of the truck and if I open the door and he is there, he falls out of the truck. It is scary for me, I don't want him to get hurt. Do you have any suggestions?
Shame that the wee rottie has his tail chopped. I always wondered what breeders do with the tails and sometimes the ears. If they keep them in a jar next to their collection of childrens tears.
He is so cute and so restless.I have 2 rottweilers and they were very restless, but now after I train them they are very good, they are very intelligent.
Hey Zak please help me.I got my puppy 3 weeks ago and she learned sit immediately. BUT she only sits when I have treats in my hand/something she wants. What should I do? The main problem is that I've been trying to teach her down and paw for 2 weeks and every time she does it correctly the next time she just stares and I have to go very slow because she isn't interested in any treats or toys when it comes to training. It's just frustrating that she just doesn't get it after 2 weeks, what am I doing wrong? She just doesn't want to learn "down". When I have the treat on the floor she just lick it but wont lie down no matter how slow i go. Please help what can i do? Also i tought her stay but same thing she will listen when she wants to. Well I think she is that stubborn because she is a French bulldog. Thank you for all your videos I have been watching them for YEARS and now I can finally use them as I have my puppy :)
Marie Say "down" (or whatever command you choose) and hold the treat in your hand on the ground. She will try to lick it out of your hand but don't let her. As she tries to get at the treat, eventually, she will lay down to get a better angle at it. When that happens, give her the treat. Repeat this process until she lays down naturally to get at the treat. Then you can start moving your hand off the ground. Also, don't worry about getting your dog off of treat training right away (what you were saying about her "sit" training). Carry a baggy of treats with you whenever you're around your dog. Use them a lot. Once she has all of her commands down properly, you can start weaning her off of getting treats every time. Your best bet at that point is to treat randomly when she executes a command. That way, she never knows exactly when she's going to get a treat, so she's more likely to do as she's told (just in case). Again though, that's only after she knows her commands well. I hope that helps.
It took my high drive Border Collie 4 months to do a proper down without treats, while we practiced about 45 minutes a day. Don't worry about your pup not listening without treats, it's just a puppy. Give her time and keep investing time and she will learn it eventually. It is normal for little pups to only work for treats, after a while you will slowly see them listening without treats. It starts with sit and look at me, and eventualy (think in months and months of practice) they will do about anything you ask from them. Don't worry, you are doing great! And sleep yourself, having a young puppy is a very stressfull and if you are well rested your pup will learn a lot quicker and you will have a lot more fun!
Marie it takes months to years for dogs based on their drive and intelligence to learn commands effectively, 2 weeks is just the start. 🤣🤣 They start learning really fast after 4 months of age.

We just got a rottie...can I connect with u for some tips? R u on insta
Rottweiler! So, cute. I'm a Dobie fan myself. I love the videos!
NerdyChat yea! Dobies💗
Zak you are the best now when i get a puppy i will know exactly what to do thank you so much 😄😄😄
Zak this Rott reminds me of my 3 month Newfoundland.

This ufo has magical properties
The rott: YEET
Zak: *Pikachu face
This is a great video. That is how my puppy acts. I thought it was aggression. I was really concerned. Thank you for all your fantastic videos and book.
I don't have a puppy but this is cute and I'm now obsessed with these type of videos
Lmfao. This was my Black and Tan shiba Inu when he was a puppy. Little vicious guy. He turned out to be good though lololol.
Do you have any tips you used?
Waiting for a Doberman pup :/ loved the Rottie tho 😃
My Rottweiler was sometimes like that as a puppy but we corrected her biting behavior and she turned out a calm adult. They need a lot of chew toys and running around/exercise as puppies to release their energy. IMO it's not the easiest dog to bring up and deffinitely needs training.
I have major struggles with this with my puppy, so thank you for this video.
Zak, do you think you could do an advanced series?
That was exactly like my Rottweiler puppy❤️
Am soon
I am getting one
2 seconds into the video and "bahahaha" 😂 Love that bark!
Zak I like it how you don’t edit out the bits where you get bitten because it makes you look like you don’t know what ur doing but the fact that he bites you and you keep it in the video makes you look like you know wat ur doing
Learnt so much about how to train my hyperactive Borador. Would love some more live streams Zak!
He's adorable 😍
I'm so thankful tht I stumbled upon your video. Particularly this video! My puppy is behaving exactly like ty. So grateful 🙏 ❤
I might get 1 in January and I’m honestly so excited!!! I’m trying to learn this because I don’t want it to be aggressive so imma learn as much as possible
1:03 That look on him when he lost that toy😂😂
The dog is so cute! You are so good at training 🐶!
Getting a border collie puppy in December and this video is giving me more confidence! Thanks, Zac!
Same like this my Rottweiler pup doing... Thank a lot bro... I was in dipression
The best breed ever....just saying... if you've had the fortune to had one in your life!, you'll understand!
Thank you so much
I love this channel
That dude is a certified menace to society already😂😂 I thought my rottie was a piranha as a puppy🤣 but with proper reinforcement he will be an amazing amazing companion ♥️
I'm a beginner dog trainer and recently got a new client who has a high energy pitty puppy and I've gotten used to older dogs so I'm using his vids to get new ideas and skills on helping the owner with her puppy. I might possibly post vids with the owners permission of course.
This makes me miss my rottie as a puppy... now he’s a big puppy 😂😂😂
Rude puppy... turning into a exhausted puppy xD
PS: nice tips Zak!
Love this!! I just got a Rottie 8 weeks old & he loves to bite. I’m gonna try some of these tips
You're getting this puppy crazy, just like you.
This is a very aggressive demon pup. My rottie was very gentle at that age.
8 week old puppys aren't "aggressive". every litter has a high energy pup or two along with some mellowed ones . he is a puppy who play bites because a ton of toys are being tossed in front of his face.
1:41 be ciivilized oh man i died
Rottweilers are just amazing! While I could say that about most dogs, Rottweilers have a very special place for me :).
when I was younger my grandfather used to actually breed and sell rottys so at any given time the house was full of them and I used to name all the puppies and play with them all they still remain my favorite dog to this day
This puppy is actually a great puppy. It will grow up to be a great dog without needing any more extra training than usual
Yeah. Since he will most likely grow up to be huge, he needs to learn to be 'obedient' and quick to listen otherwise he will grow up to injure someone (whether voluntarily or involuntarily)
This is what I really need
I have 3 rottweilers and I've trained them all from watching your video's. Rottweilers are such amazing dogs but I am disappointed to see one with a docked tail. They're such smart and loyal dogs🐶❤️
I have two one year old dogs (one is almost two) and I’m currently going back to basics with them and one thing I never did with them when they were pups was redirecting them which I believe is a cause to a lot of problems I’ll definitely be starting doing this now !
Finally Rottweiler!!wow
“What’s in this Bark Box is way more interesting than my flesh” LMAOO😂

This is such a helpful video, thank you!
Thanks Kate!
it may look its right but what his doing in the vid it just aint
his forcing the rott to not get the toy
Zak George logic... dog wants to take over the world then teach him to sit
Thank you so much this video is so informative. My rottie puppy is coming today and it was great to know what I should focus on the first week home!
Hi i just got a new rottweiler.. he's 2months old. He is also like that.. aggressive and bites.. hope ur vids will help me train him 😊
Shame that the wee rottie has his tail chopped. I always wondered what breeders do with the tails and sometimes the ears. If they keep them in a jar next to their collection of childrens tears.
in europe its against the law now
ZEDMODZ GTA im pretty sure they throw them away
The tail is normal it was bred that way
Video For video people no, dogs are born with tails.
Dylan Haggarty actually because of how long they’ve been doing it (for their safety in some cases) some Rottweilers are born without a tail already.
I love Rottweiler and I also bought a new Rottweiler puppy after seeing this
thanks for the suggestions😊😊😊
P
My dog does the same exact thing! lmao
Marie it takes months to years for dogs based on their drive and intelligence to learn commands effectively, 2 weeks is just the start. 🤣🤣 They start learning really fast after 4 months of age.
