I remember probably about 10 years ago. There was an app on the phone where you could mod pokemon and put them in black and white. I did the same along with wonder guard on sableye. Battled my friends with just those two and they were like, wtf, how did you do that. Lol

They should give him a 'two step' abilitily, like how some Pokémon have two modes. His primary abilitily is truant, but when his hp gets to a certain point, he gets irrationally angry and loses it and gains another.
Slaking has a great typing, movepool, and stat spread. It is however cursed with an ability that hinders it to the point of uselessness. Even if it had an ability that did nothing in battle, Slaking would be in Ubers.
slaking's still got a good bulk to throw around all things considered, it's VERY good if you can work around its weaknesses a very good revenge killer it's doing so much better than regigigas right now
Honestly you probably could have one shot more than half the game with stab hyper beam. That’s a base power of 225 going off of 160 physical attack and in Gen 1 there is no recharge after a ko.

Slaking in gen 1 is like a stronger snorlax you can go physical you can go amnesia bolt beam phsycic you can go a little of both the possibility is endless

Honestly, depending on if it gets the 95 or the 65 for its Special stat, it may very well be even better than Mewtwo; 95 would even have a higher BST at 605 vs 590. STAB Hyper Beam, gets Amnesia by level-up, and can learn the TMs for Body Slam, Rock Slide (Body Slam is an egg move in RSE and Rock Slide as a Tutor Move, so it should get the TMs from gen 1), Ice Beam, Blizzard, Earthquake, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, AND Thunderbolt.

If you stick with these Pokémon hack challenges with OP Pokémon in generation 1, and keep the videos at 30 minutes, this could be a really cool niche. And you could build a channel with 10K subs very quickly. 50K views per video once a week is a very successful channel if you think about it. Yeah, it's definitely something to consider. I originally started the channel as a hobby to do LPs, then tried my hand at challenge runs. Cause I enjoyed watching them. And then this vid took off lol. Regigigas in due time. But we got rock, steel and ice coming this month.

Another case of ice beam being the best offensive move in Gen 1. I always used to trade for the jynx on fr/lg bc psychic, ice beam, fake tears, and lovely kiss will pretty much get you through every single battle in the game
@@GIR177 in retrospect calm mind is definitley better. You can even skip lovely kiss for double team set up and sweep literally the entire elite 4 that way

I have watched nothing but Im gonna say it. Mewtwo tier. That boy has stats that eclipses almost all of Gen 1 and the movepool to back it up. His crit rate would be huge and if you use his SpAttack as his Special he'd have awesome coverage. Even with his Sp Def being his Special stat he'd be tanky as all hell and that's good enough.
Slaking's Speed took me by surprise as plotted a gimmick Slaking team in Violet. Had Trick Room Hatterene all ready and planned out, then I saw the 100 on Slaking's page. A decent Speed in Gen 9, but top tier in RBY.

That was an amazing job you did there with Slaking 😊. We can finally know how 600 base stat total are being used in run with no abilities. Even though it had a slow start, because of its starting moves, and it couldn't really do a minimum battles run like Mewtwo did,it did better than it , if I recall correctly. 🤔 I can't wait to see how the Regis would do in gen 1. And by the way,you did an excellent job with the background music,elevating the story of your run quite a lot ,and your sound quality is better than it used to be. Keep it up!😊
If it started with a move like faint attack or hammer arm which I think it starts with at level 1 in later gens. I think minimum battles would have been very possible. It definitely has the stats and move pull for any problem. And if it was able to learn psychic. Oh man.....straight op. The Regis are gonna be a fun series. I'm with the majority that regice will be the winner.
@@DwunD016 Yeah Slaking is still after all a normal type that will be walled at the Brock fight. But basically afterwards it cruised throughout the. I think that Slaking is a legendary Snorlax, considering its limiting ability. And now I can see why it was given this ability . And yeah Regice is going to be the winner, because of it's stat distribution and the fact that Ice types in gen 1 tend to excel in kanto with the right moves,of course.😁🤔
I think registeel could surprise some folks though. 150 base defense and special. I'm going through the regirock run right now. And it's had some walls
tbh I think for base stat totals, it would be more accurate to use a base stat total on "modern scale" aka double the special, due to special doing double duty, because Mewtwo obviously has an adjusted BST of 744 if I didnt mess up any numbers, which is absolutely insane even on the modern scale, and slaking would still be a respectable 700, which is still higher then it's normal BST in later gens due to you using the Special Attack stat as special, and while not as absurd as Mewtwo still makes it MUCH better than eg dragonite which only has 600 adjusted BST.
Great way to maintain the original intent of "loafing around" within gen 1 would be to somehow add a recharge turn to every move slaking uses Maybe keep the bug where KOing an opponent negates the recharge turn, to keep some of that broken gen 1 feel as well
Dude... Slaking in gen 1 would basically just be "even better Snorlax". Normal typing in gen 1 is arguably the 2nd best in the game, and Slaking's stat spread would only be rivaled by Mewtwo. A Normal type THAT good would break the game.
I do always wonder what newer mons would be like in Gen 1. Like what about Melmetal, the mon first usable (outside GO) in a Kanto remake? Or the later-gen evolutions to Gen 1 Pokémon?
Melmetal would be a really fun one. I actually tried to do a meltan only run in let's go. But forgot you couldn't use transferred mons until fuschia. And couldn't find anyone to trade with.

Before watching: I have to imagine early game is doable, but not a cakewalk because of the moveset, and brock, but IIRC you get Body Slam TM before Ericka and from there, you probably just one tap everything that isnt rock or ghost. Edit: yeah. Outside of Bruno, that went as expected.

These are good videos, but I do wish the commentary lined up a little better with the video, so for the more tense moments we don’t know if it works out or not until seeing it
Considering slakings slow lvl up group. Not Skipping rare candies and wasting a few seconds for it does pay off in the end where every level takes soo long for slaking compared to other mons 🤔 Also, having a move to boost stats also triggers the badge boost glitch, adding another 12.5% per stat (if the corresponding badge is already acquired) and boost until a lvl up in fight. Making slaking even more broken in gen1 Edit: should’ve wahtched till the end before commenting on the badge boost glitch 😅
Haha, no worries on commenting before the end. And if I were to redo this run. I would skip every rare candy. Although part of me is tempted to still get the one in Cerulean and 2 in Pokemon mansion.

@@DwunD016 maybe one right before the league? He wasn’t running any badge boosting moves through the E4, so I don’t see why he would have needed to candy between league members. I think 50-55 was just natural leveling

In fact, in Gen 3 Pure Hackmons, where abilities are locked to be either vanilla or [No Ability] Slaking is one of the best pokemon!

Same, but with Calm Mind over Fake Tears. I don't trade for Jynx anymore just because it just makes the game too boring.

Nah, Normal is the best type in the game. Tauros, Snorlax and Chansey are the big 3 of Gen 1, with Tauros being the best Pokemon in OU.

Having Slaking at level 13 would've been a bit more consistent at Brock.
Damage rounding is always beneficial for consistency

knowing how buggy gen 1 can be, there is a timeline where slaking attacks every other turn because of a bug.
Considering slakings slow lvl up group. Not Skipping rare candies and wasting a few seconds for it does pay off in the end where every level takes soo long for slaking compared to other mons 🤔
Also, having a move to boost stats also triggers the badge boost glitch, adding another 12.5% per stat (if the corresponding badge is already acquired) and boost until a lvl up in fight. Making slaking even more broken in gen1

Haha, no worries on commenting before the end. And if I were to redo this run. I would skip every rare candy. Although part of me is tempted to still get the one in Cerulean and 2 in Pokemon mansion.

Iirc Jrose did mewtwo on minimum battles. Finishing at lvl 50 just like slaking probly means he didn’t use candies, but I’m too lazy to check lol

@@DwunD016 my curiosity overcame my laziness. In his second new two video, he finished rival 6 at lvl 49, then it cuts to Lorelei at lvl 50, and he finishes at 1:58 and lvl 55
Candy use I'm assuming? I remember watching that run (attempts at least) live years ago
@@DwunD016 maybe one right before the league? He wasn’t running any badge boosting moves through the E4, so I don’t see why he would have needed to candy between league members. I think 50-55 was just natural leveling

I've thought Showdown should have a format where Pokemon from later generations fight with Gen 1 mechanics.
I love doing a toxic moveset on it and maxing out sp def and def, with something like leftovers and use as an hp tank/wall stall lol
