I am discovering this young people singing. I am in France and I am used to look at Amish life. I do thank you for this song. Hope I could be in touch with you at least one time during my life. I am Christian and protestant. God bless you all. Laurent
I'm an English man that works and worships with the Amish.. I'm 6 days a week if not 7 days.. I attend the hymn sings frequently. This is just another day in my life
God bless you young people. Shine on for Jesus. I gave my life to Christ at 19,now 42, and i promise you Jesus will be enough for you. We live worlds apart, but if we are faithful to the end "we will meet in the morning when the gates open wide... in the City build foursquare.
Id just like to say that even though I am a Holdeman mennonite and we differ from the Amish in many ways this is at least one thing that is the same: there is nothing better than singing as a youth group. This gave me chills and I wish I could have been singing with them.
Just imagine this song in our original dialect of the swabian Schwarzwald (Black Forrest) region, so called AlleManISH. After French persecution in the 18th century as Evangelish protestants they moved via the city of Passau in south-east of Bavaria down the river Donau, Main and to lower Rhine regions to the Netherlands, for seeking the promised land for free living their free faith to God in Liberty on the next continent overseas. Some letters got lost so the Amish people found a new homestead in Philadelphia, Ohio and later in Montana in the USA.
This was really good just pure vocal no instruments!! Did not realize any one could video them singing. I read Amish books and camped in Lancaster and shopped at Amish produce stands but I always thought they were very private people who shy away from modern electronics!! Thanks for sharing it was beautiful!!
@Patricia Epright, you are correct. The Amish you read about and see here in Lancaster are Old Order Amish. They prefer privacy. These lovely Amish singers are part of the New Order Amish which is a step more secular from old order, but not quite Mennonite. At least, as a Lancastrian, that's what I've pieces together from similar videos
As much as I love modern day inventions like air conditioning and such there are times that I would give anything to go back to roots like these folks.
Wonderful harmony are used to live right across the road from an Amish families and I enjoyed it all the time when they were out there singing working in the garden working in the yard wonderful people I am joy to have them for my neighbors praise the Lord forever
This is beautiful, young people. the heart of the Father finds pleasure in His children singing. Hope you all have a willing heart to praise the Lord, that too pleases Him. Praise Him in all the seasons of life, He will be there to guide and help even the most burdened spirits. Very thankful someone recorded and posted this!!
SONG: O happy day, that fixed my choice (1755) 1. O happy day that fixed my choice On Thee, my Savior and my God! Well may this glowing heart rejoice, And tell its raptures all abroad. Refrain:
Happy day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away! He taught me how to watch and pray And live rejoicing every day Happy day, happy day When Jesus washed my sins away! 2. O happy bond, that seals my vows To Him who merits all my love! Let cheerful anthems fill His house, While to that sacred shrine I move. 3 'Tis done, the great transaction's done; I am my Lord's and He is mine; He drew me and I followed on, Rejoiced to own the call divine. 4 Now rest, my long-divided heart, Fixed on this blissful center, rest; Here have I found a nobler part, Here heavenly pleasures fill my breast. 5 High heaven that hears the solemn vow, That vow renewed shall daily hear; Till in life's latest hour I bow, And bless, in death, a bond so dear. SONG: Just A Little Talk With Jesus (1937) 1. I once was lost in sin but Jesus took me in And then a little light from heaven filled my soul It bathed my heart in love and wrote my name above And just a little talk with Jesus made me whole Refrain: Now let us have a little talk with Jesus Let us tell Him all about our troubles He will hear our faintest cry He will answer by and by Now when you feel a little prayerwheel turning And you know a little fire is burning You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right 2. Sometimes my path seems drear without a ray of cheer And then a cloud of doubt may hide the light of day The mists of sin may rise and hide the starry skies But just a little talk with Jesus clears the way 3. I may have doubts and fears my eyes be filled with tears But Jesus is a friend who watches day and night I go to Him in prayer He knows my every care And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right Makes everything right SONG: I’ll Meet You in the Morning (1956) 1. I'll meet you in the morning by the bright riverside, When all sorrow has drifted away. I'll be standing at the portals when the gates open wide, At the close of life's long weary day. Refrain: I'll meet you in the morning with a how do you do And we'll sit down by the river and when all the rapture is renewed. You'll know me in the morning by the smile that I wear, When I meet you in the morning In the city that is built four square. 2. I will meet you in the morning in the sweet by and by And exchange the old cross for a crown. There will be no disappointments and nobody shall die, In that land when life's sun goeth down. 3. I will meet you in the morning at the end of the way On the streets of that city of gold Where we all can bе together and be happy always Whilе the years and the ages shall roll SONG: Somewhere in the skies Somewhere in the skies There is a land of song Where there is never any dying Somewhere the air is free and fair We’ll live forever. Somewhere in the skies There is a happy paradise, Never is a sigh Children never die Roses never die Nothing goes wrong We will sing forever there Everything is bright and fair And we will feel so glad and free We’ll breathe celestial air And live forever there. Heaven
This is a healthy way for youths to meet together with singing of hymns in praising God, unlike the partying youths in the city with wine, drugs and sex.
I enjoy their rendition of Oh Happy Day. VERY different from the Edwin Hawkins version, that I also enjoy; and also wonderful and beautiful with the Acapella Youth Choir.
I love acapella singing... it is a great joy to sing this way.... I always fell blessed to meet people who are able to sight read the Music they sing and the harmony just comes forth...Thank you Rick
I grew up in a Pentecostal Holiness church. We sang "Have a Little Talk With Jesus." The difference is we had an organist, pianist, drummer and guitarist, and we clapped and played tamboruine. I wonder how the Amish community would feel listening to gospel music and the hymns they know accompanied by instrumentation. It is very emotional.
The Amish do not believe in "being saved". Their religion demands them to "work" for salvation. The works they perform are nothing more than the customs of Amish predecessors and have nothing to do with Christianity except in a general sense of the word. That is the part that outsiders do not understand about the Amish. They are so adamant about their "works" religion that if any Amish member were to even visit an outside Christian church they would be excommunicated by their congregation.
I am french and have always been interested in the Amish life, I went at Lancaster,pa once to visit the Amish land and I felt as if I was at home! Hearing them singing put my heart in high vibrations! Thank you for sharing, I would love to know where was it registered? and to have heard all the songs they sang that day! Thanks
It was done on a Amish farm in a wood working shop that was cleaned out to have a youth singing! These people take singing as seriously as working or everything else they do!
I am a baptist Saved by Grace...I know the church history that Amish, anabaptist, brethren, & other early churches link Christians who had been persecuted scattered when our LORD JESUS CHRIST sent us to preach the Gospel to the whole world...that as long as we continue on that FAITH which was once delivered unto the saints, then we are STILL A SCRIPTURAL CHURCHES founded by our LORD JESUS CHRST, GOD THE SON. AND I Praise seeing AMISH as I see & heard & I believed are Still Considered as Scriptural Churches even if it is More Conservative than the Scriptural Baptist Chruches like Missionary Baptist, Southern Baptist, Independent Baptis, Bible Baptist who still continue with that Old Faith & Doctrines written by the Apostles of our LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Just listened to "Adonai" by WorshipMob, then this...the praises of God rising before Him, in various forms. When the singing (in any style) is done---are you living according to God's word? Are you truly born again? Are you living in holiness by his power and grace? And on the other hand, it doesn't how intense the music is (WorshipMob) or how sober and measured the music is (Amish)--it's no good if you are not born again and living in holiness.
I used to have a CD with many songs on it from an Amish Youth Choir, given to me in Berlin, Ohio. I lost it and was so saddened over it. Wonder if this is the same group. Love this!
How precious! God bless these precious youth! How I WISH they could all understand, that the wicked world outside their community has NOTHING TO OFFER them but heartache, sin, and alienation from God, as the things of the world pull them away from THEIR ONE TRUE HOPE AND LOVER OF THEIR SOULS, JESUS CHRIST! I have been a Christian outreach worker and missionary for over 50 years now, and have seen first-hand the great darkness found throughout the world today among those who do NOT know Jesus Christ. Satan and the world promise MUCH, but sin and the world's wicked ways only bring heartaches and sorrow and in the end, destruction. Jesus and His straight and narrow WAY is truly the only path to a wonderful life!!! I KNOW, because I have served Him as a single woman in ministry for over 50 years, and how WONDERFUL the Christian life truly is! He has kept me from many sorrows and from the path of destruction, as I followed Him throughout the years. FOLLOW JESUS!!!-Pamela Rae Schuffert
