Forrest like so many other OD deaths could have had awesome, productive, meaningful and rewarding lives.
In many cases these deaths are pooled from the risk-takers, thinkers and outstanding life-althetes among the young. They tried and got hooked on the most forbidden high, of course they'd be attracted to it, just like i might have.
Dying by drugs really sucks for everyone involved, people distance themselves, the great person they were gets forgotten or at least unfortunately re-defined.

And the biggest thing is that they lose, they (and we) miss out on what could have been.
