- Have you ever experimented with adding percussion sounds to your drum kit?
Small instruments like cowbells, woodblocks and tambourines have the power to add completely new colors to your playing. But what other instruments are there that work great in a similar setup.

*GUESS WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I GOT A FEVER AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS MORE COWBELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
The pandeiro is something I hadn't heard of before. I've had my eye on the click hi-hat tambourine for a while, as I saw a drummer use one at a gig I was at and I had to ask him what it was after the show. I also really like the sound of a ching ring.
I love the variety of sound colours and textures one can add with percussion instruments.
We play the best instrument hands down, there are endless ways to make the kit you own and find your perfect sound heck Iâve even seen one guy use a fish before haha
I would definitely go for a combo of Timbale and Pandeiro instead of the regular hi and mid toms combo. Very interesting video, straight to the points, no unnecessary blah blahs but just short intro and straight to demonstration. Great work, excellent sound by the way. 18K views and only 292 likes, so unfair.
One of my first drum set additions was the high range of 3 rototoms. Those are likely familiar to most drummers, but I also find them to be pretty versatile in the world of concert percussion as the wide range of tuning they can achieve lends them to so many different styles and genres. I havenât used them in a while. May have to pull them out of the instrument closet!
I also picked up a kenari nut shaker bracelet a while back that is nice to attach to the hi-hat ankle, though itâs better suited to acoustic performance with hand percussion. However, like the Ching Ring, it does have a nice trash effect when draped over a cymbal.
Thanks for the video! I dig all the grooves and ideas for incorporating an array of percussion instruments. Will have to work out some of these ideas later.
Thank you for this video and great ideas
Sounds great!!!
Not digging the bongos here, but the snare timbale is awesome.
Beatring, hi hat tambourine, cowbells, jamblocks, bongo, conga, timbale, djembe, splah, mini cymbal , triangle, castagnets, sleighbells, shakers, cajon brushes, LP brushes, cowbell foot, jamblock foot, picollo snare, agogo,
i wish i could have one of those Cowbell or a Meinl 10" Snare Timbare would have been great but unfortunately i do not have one.
Maybe it's time to change that ;-) Thanks for your feedback Divyam
