      @bulu9214 Před 3 lety

      That was a common sense question I think.
      Because muslims don't take criticism of them from non muslims seriously. If a muslim leader's criticism can have much more effective than non muslims , then why not ask them to critisize? Every group need to be reformed internally ,but since muslims don't try to change internally and are incapable of taking external criticism too , so called progressive leaders like ilah Omar should speak out loud on whar are going wrong in their community. But unfortunately she was just another muslim who can't critisize or bring reform to her community,instead like a typical muslim she chose to attack a person who had told her to do something good to her community.
      I think this tells something about muslims that no matter how progressive muslims may be they can't go against the wrongs committed in their religion or community. Their community rules over them . If these kind of people run an entire country it means the entire country is being run by just one community who can't take its criticism .

      Veiled accusation or not, it was a bad question. "You're a Muslim woman - can you publicly condemn FGM?" I haven't heard anyone pose a similar question to Christian male politicians. "You're a Christian male - would you publicly condemn fundamentalist Christian parents letting their children suffer and die because they rely on faith healing instead of seeking medical care - every time you speak publicly?" Obviously, there is more to people than their religion and gender. But when someone sees you as an "other," all they tend to see is what they think makes you different.

      @cameronhodgetts920 Před 4 lety +71

      I can't imagine she would say that. Her stance, and the stance of any moral individual, seems to be that FGM is an abhorrent act, which it is. Those who commit such a heinous act can't be viewed as good people, because of the nature of their actions. The point was that the questioner, and many of the "old Americans" - conservative, white, mid-Western Christian bigots (I don't mean to slate the mid-West or Christianity, it's just that the trends indicate that this is where the most hate comes from) - who support bigoted, homophobic, sexist, racist politicians like pretty much every member of the Trump administration, minus a few, or the British Parliamentary Cabinet, make the racist and biased assumption that they would be in support of such a heinous crime, when in actuality, it's far more likely that people like the Trumpists would be in support of such a misogynistic act as FGM. It's clear to see that Omar is completely against the demonized view of her otherwise fascinating and wise religion, that has been caused by middle-eastern radicals, and the word-of-mouth bigotry that sadly continues to exist today in the Western world, thanks largely to the media bias and the power of the hate mongers. So no, I don't think there's any way she would say "there are good people on both sides".

      Then we have documentation that proves she committed tax fraud because she never divorced her first husband who she married a second time, then had an affair with her now husband but never divorced the one she married twice.
      Funny she wants to tear down our system that she sought asylum to, including her mother and father, to find out who is benefiting from it when just days prior she deposited $879,000 in her husbands account, that she has committed marriage fraud, tax fraud , illegal entry of her brother by lying and marrying him .

    • @aggressivelyamicable5987
      @aggressivelyamicable5987 Před 4 lety +10

      @@thedstorm8922 This is completely inaccurate. Egypt is 90% Muslim with only about 10% Christians while 87.2% of the female population undergoes FGM. Out of these FGM operations almost 100% are done on Muslim women (see "Prevalence of female genital cutting among Egyptian girls"), in fact the Coptic Orthodox Christians VIA their Pope have explicitly stated that FGM is both unhealthy and unacceptable within the faith. Now Kenya is 70% Christian with an FGM rate of about 28%, of these 28% nearly all are conducted on the indigenous tribes and Muslims (see "28 too many Kenya profile"). Tanzania is believed to be about 60 to 36 Christian-Muslim with some indigenous tribes and their FGM rate is believed to be about 10%, uniquely Tanzania appears to have a 20% FGM rate from Christians and 15% from Muslims. South Sudan has only been a recognized nation for less than a decade and there are essentially no real studies to draw conclusions from so I cannot address that one. Lastly, Ethiopia is about 43% Orthodox Christian and 34% Muslim with some 20% Protestants. Ethiopia has an FGM rate of 65.2% and it seems to be practiced across all of the nation but at a higher rate in Muslims with the official statistics being 82.2% of Muslim women, 54.2% of Orthodox women and 65.8% of Protestant women (see "28toomany Ethiopia"). So as noted your initial statement was inaccurate at best and maliciously ignorant at worst.

In fact, the medieval Catholic Church publicly stated that they didn’t believe in witches, and that this was a pagan superstition. Widespread Christian fear of and belief in witches came later - very late medieval era and post Reformation.
