@@mphasis1983 Many of the world class players of yesteryears are retiring soon like your Toni Kroos, Modric, Benzema, Lewa, Busquets etc. And there seems to be a huge gap of talent between them and the up and coming talent such as Haaland, Mbappe, Vini Jr etc. We will see better players come through hence why I said it's a transition period.

There is maybe 4 or 5 teams that can say realistically they have a chance of winning the champions league in the 90s each year there was maybe 10-15 teams who thought realistically they could win it. Italy spain germany england the money and talent was much more spread out, now we have juggernaut teams that dominate their leagues and all the talent is sucked up into a handful of teams. maybe the city team is a better team but maybe not who knows but generations and the game is so different.

I think the football as a sport has evolved since our 99 treble team due to the emergence of sports science and improvement in technology... BUT I honestly think the quality of footballers today has declined compared to the 90's and 00's due to the importance of systems.
Theres hardly any players in the peak of their powers in todays game where you could say that they will go down in history as one of the best ever in their position. I remember people having them conversations in 90's and 00's with players in their prime.

I Remember Man Utd’s treble very well . I was at the fa cup semi final that year between Newcastle and Tottenham so I had a vested interest with who they got in the final. To be fair Man Utd’s treble side was outstanding, they had talent in every department and had experienced heads to get them over the line and win games with good old fashioned know how. For this Man City side to win a treble would be phenomenal achievement but you just can’t compare the 99 side with 23 Man City side, different eras with different rules and regulations. What I would add though to beat your nearest and dearest who have won a treble on your way to a treble would taste sweeter and that’s what Man City could do.

Ever since we beat Bayern Munich, the media as been comparing both treble as if we had done it. We are not even on the week of the fa cup final and media folks are already acting like its done.
Same happened with Liverpool last season with the quadruple. City could very easily lose to Inter, thinking they’ve already won it. It’s hard for players to avoid social media etc these days.

it is so hard to compair as stated teams are real all star teams now. before it was not quite like that. The game was more hands on. Not that the moden player could not cope. But it was never as free flowing football as it is now. You would get kicked of the park. ok arsenal had a good balance back then. Man u was always counter attack unless it was the smaller teams. so they was happy to let the some of the big teams have the ball. all i am saying is the football was not quite as pretty to the eye.
Points total is as much about the strength of league that season, as it is how good the team is that year... trophies count way more than points...

That isn't fair! you play in a league, you are top of the league when all the games are played, but the top 4 go into a "semi final playoff" and who ever wins the final wins the league. It doesn't matter if you won the league table, you could get 4th and still win the bloody thing
