Thanks for making this series, that even a quarter-wit like myself could understand and enjoy ;-) Looking forward to your next series in the new year
It all makes sense now. So that was your mom in high school who would always say , "Rene if you put a quarter of the energy you put into video games and picking up dates, you'd be able to tie you own shoes".
@@stevenutter3614 you only think it makes sense because I simulated, you understanding a high-concept idea, then inserted it into your consciousess.
@@carnsoaks1 Nah ur not real every1 is simulated i'm the real one
Let's see what you have "fermi" this week. Nice one!
*rofl*
This has become one my rare "watch now, not later" series.
Sad it's over but I'm grateful and look forward to whatever you'll throw at us next year.
Thanks Dr. Don and stay safe.
I'll admit it. I did say it with you - "Even at home, Physics is everything"
My kind of guy/gal...
"... if reductionism is correct."
suck up
Enjoy the holidays, Dr. Don!
Among all the "science" channels that treat these outlandish theories as if they had some scientific credibility, it sure is nice to find this series that makes it clear that they are almost entirely speculative. Your sensible discussion of these topics is an excellent sanity check and much appreciated.
Thank you Dr Don and Ian for probably the only reason for CZcams to exist - to advance our understanding of existence and to spread dad jokes!
Dear Dr. Don: You are an internet friend. I am happy to say I look forward to your video every week. I am sure when the pandemic is over you will be busy back at Fermilab and we won't have the pleasure of your wonderful personality. I hope someday to visit Chicago. Maybe after the pandemic is over. How would I visit you to shake your hand and say hi? I am one of your big physics fans in Corvallis, Oregon Rick Wilson
Go Rick! (awesome name, btw.)
No music while explaining, No silly ad at the beginning, are the reasons i sub.
Oh no! I loved subatomic stories!! Thank you so so much for the series Dr. Don and as sad as it is to see it go, I am excited to see what's next!
So long and thanks for all the physics!
Looking forward to 2021!
Thank you Dr. Lincoln. This series has been great and I look forward to your future work.
Thanks for this great series it's been fun. I must say my favorite parts were the Q&A sections, they helped a lot in my understanding.
Wow 35 episodes already, thanks! For me time flew by. Can't speak for those in another frame of reference.
😢 Sad that’s the end of the series. It’s been my favorite on this channel. I gather that going deeper into the math is assumed unviable for CZcams, but I wish there was more to this series. The lecture portion of each video seemed to be ~10-15 minutes on average, for (very roughly) ~6-10 hours on all of particle physics and astrophysics. 😑
Ah well. You still did a great job with it. Gratitude to DOE for supporting this endeavor (and FermiLab, obvs!). And gratitude to you, Dr. Lincoln, for putting in such a thoughtful, consistent, and sincere effort to share understanding of physics with everyone that understands English. Channels like this are a validation of the positive potential promised by the internet. I’ll be looking forward to the next series. 🙂
Don and team, thank you for the amazing series. A spot of light in a dark time for many people. Looking forward to the new series in the new year.
Thanks Dr Lincoln for this series, it's been terrific. I look forward to the next one and am sure it will maintain the high standard you've set. Happy Holidays to you and Fermilab!
Thank you Dr Don and to all your team for this awesome series!
Dr. Lincoln, thank you for your fascinating series on particle physics & cosmol- ogy. You're very generous with your time. Sincere gratitude sir!
Well, if we live in a simulation, pretty sure you Dr Don must be the Architec
That's a good one.
He protec
He attac
But most importantly he the Architec
So he is just pretending that he is so dumb, that he doesn’t even know what dark matter or dark energy is?
@@juzoli That would explain his constant smile :-)
Thank you for the great series Mr. Lincoln, I learnt so much. I'm impatient to see you in the new format you just announced, happy holidays season!
What a amazing journey. Thank you
35 episodes 👏👏👏
Thanks a lot for the series! It was awesome and sparked my curiosity. Looking forward to seeing you back.
Thanks so much for making these vids! Loved the series. Can't wait to see what comes out next year.
At the end of the day what notable differences can be argued whether we live in a simulated world or the "real" world. What would it change if we did live in a simulated world and could prove it?
Nothing, reality is abstract and if the simulation is our reality then who can argue that it's less real?
Thank you all for this series.
Looking forward to your new series, thanks Dr Don
Such a wonderful series and I can't wait to see more from you Dr. Don! Thanks for all the Physics!
Thanks Dr. Lincoln! I finally memorized the closing so I could say it with the rest of us. This was a great series and I look forward to the next one and many more to come!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this informative series!
Thanks for making the series. I’ve really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to see what you deliver us next year. Happy holidays and hope you have a relaxing break.
This was a fantastic series! Thank you for making it. I look forward to the coming series!
Happy holidays, Don. I'm going to have the PTs (physics tremens) in your absence. Thanks for your series. It kept me entertained through these tough times.
Great series guys! Hope to see you again soon!
Thank you, Dr. Don. This has been a wonderful series. That you took questions many of us had made it all the better. I look forward to your future endeavors on CZcams.
I'm sad that this is the last one in the series, I really enjoyed all of them! Happy holidays and look forward to seeing you next year.
Can we unplug it and plug it back it? There's been a massive glitch this year and we need a patch
You've clearly not been running antivirus updates. The corruption may be too great. I suggest formatting and starting from scratch
@@RedBatRacing 🙏
I love it when the unverse power cycles. Tickles in my soul.
The beauty of the simulation theory is that it could have been re-run millions of times as I wrote this and we wouldn't notice. You could have just been just added and the same would be true.
It's not a glitch. It's a patch from devs to balance out OP human meta. Climate change patch is also in making already
Isn't the Planck's length the natural candidate for the smallest possible distance in the simulation?
That thought hit me too! I wonder if you could extrapolate the Plank length and determine the number of bits in the simulation???
The best description of the Planck length is not "the minimum length" but "the length at which the math breaks in current theory". It's probably not physically interesting. Also, for a simulation, there'd be no need to be that fine grained, it's 10 orders of magnitude smaller than anything we can guess the size of. It would just be wasteful.
@@SkorjOlafsen Respectfully, we wouldn't know what they are looking for in the simulation that we're in. Similarly we have no means of evaluating what their universe is like. We could be as simple to them as the _Game of Life_ screensaver on so many Linux and UNIX systems is to our reality.
This is of course making a supposition about the possibility of our reality being a simulation. I find it unlikely but not impossible, and until knowing with certainty I must simply go on with life.
Indeed. Isn't that more or less what Quantum Loop Gravity says? Or with a stretch, String theory, where the"bits" are strings? To get to the Planck length, you need all the energy of the universe, not just a puny accelerator. If we are in a simulation, it probably can't be broken from within it; that would be a bug.
@@TWX1138 Fair enough. After all, we could be an accident of the simulation, not the point of it.
This was a great series. Looking foward to what comes next.
Thank you. This series helped me get through the early days of the pandemic. It gave me a weekly diversion and also something to look forward to each week. The pandemic pushed me into a retirement that was a couple months sooner than I had planned and it was a sudden and unexpected change in my life. You reminded me each week with your closing line that I was not the only one displaced and somewhat isolated. Be safe and well. I am looking forward to the new series.
Happy Holidays Don, thanks for a great series
I loved this series, thank you so much for doing it!
Thank you Dr. Don and Ian. Great series that has been an illuminating part of 2020 for me, and I am sure many others.
Thank you for the wonderful journey. It was a blast :-)
BTW: Where are the *BLOOPERS* ? We want, nay demand(!) the blooper reel for future conservation!
Thanks for all of your work, Don & Ian. Best of luck on the next endeavour!
Thank you so much for enriching my mind! I really loved this format, and that makes me very optimistic for the next one!
Loved the series, see you in 2021!

Great, thanks for asking Don!
Thanks for these videos. Been nice to learn during this.... long year. Happy holidays and be safe to you and your team!
Thanks for all your great explanations about different topics theories in physics thanks alot. I will be curious and waiting for next year episodes
Two points: a) the simulation conjecture is simply a variant of intelligent design. b) the necessity of quantized space assumes discrete digital computing generating the simulation.
Thank you very much for 35 great videos. I'm sad that is ending and looking forward to the new videos that come in 2021.
Thank you for this series I really enjoyed it
At last! Thank you and keep them coming :)
Thank you for this great series.
Bravo! Thank you! Splendid work! To commemorate:
An old universe
A cosmologist steps in
Echoes of intelligence
Basho's old haiku, 2020 version
Thanks Don. Enjoyed this series and your inimitable presentation of it.

Thank you for all your videos!!
Thank you so much for such amazing videos! Greetings from Iceland
That's a lot questions answered! Good series, thank you!
Thank you. Pls keep your health well. Best regards
Thanks Dr Don Lincoln, Great series!
This was fun to follow, thank you for it. Happy holidays to you and see you next year
Thanks for the fantastic job you did !!!
Thank you for the series. And for taking advantage of these modern conveniences to help bring what you do to a wider audience. As much as I love the professional CZcamsrs that reawakened my interest in science in recent years, it has been great to have professional scientists also weigh in. You yourself, Matt from PBS Space Time, and Sean Carroll have all brought some rigour and rigueur to the space. Best wishes going forward from here :)
Thank Dr. Don you for keeping it fun & interesting. Best wishes to all for the coming year.
It's not goodbye it's see you later... have a happy December Don, I have loved your videos and I find myself rewatching some of my favorites when I realize I've lost an understanding of a certain topic (QCD comes to mind haha). I am very appreciative of the work you and your partner have created. Have a great new year.
Thanks for a most engaging and informative series!
Great series. sad to see it end. Congratulations on an awesome job. Can’t wait for the new series. People will start posting their favorite episode number. 👍
Thank you for all the content. I very much enjoy it :)
What an incredible series!
This is an excellent site. Thank You.
Thanks for this series, much appreciated. =)
Thank you for subatomic stories and everything else 👍
"Thoughts without confirmation are fictions. Observations without a mental framework are curiosities. Observation is the more important of the two since they are what grounds ones ideas with reality."
I will shamelessly steal this for my own personal use. With attribution, of course.
Have a nice holiday season Dr. Lincoln
