    Thank you for putting a link/description of the tools. A lot of videos I've watched recently don't say what tools are used... And that's frustrating for someone who isn't tool savvy and wants to start a new hobby.

    • @BoomCreateTV
      @BoomCreateTV  Před 3 lety +1

      I try to do that, but it doesn't always work. I don't mind starting with the cheaper tools to see what I do and don't need.

      @@BoomCreateTV that's exactly what I do. I start with the cheapest tools possible for the job when it's something I've never done before. But ultimately end up getting mad at myself that I did that because if it's something I really enjoy I just wasted money when I could have gotten exactly what I needed that would have done the job a hell of a lot better! I did that with my first Dremel and wood carving tools. The money I put towards the cheaper ones could have went towards a way better set.

    Nice - helpful thanks. One suggestion - when you were doing the sped up bits it was hard to see what bit you were using (though I'll learn that as I play) - how about putting a still image of the bit in a corner of the video? That way I can see what you used to achieve something if I'm not figuring it out myself.
    Thanks again!

    Thanks for Sharing! I inherited a bunch of Dremel tools and a Forden hanging power carver. I have been practicing on wood and the first thing I did is what you suggested. I worked with each bit to see what would be preferable for the box I want to engrave. I also do woodworking so I have a lot of scraps to practice on. And after seeing you carve on a rock I want to try that as well. You gave me the idea to cut a rock in half and use it as an inlay on the top of the box! Thank you!!

    As someone who plays at flint napping I will tell you one of the first things you learn is NOT TO BREATH IN THAT DUST. Make sure you have good ventilation and preferably a breeze or fan blowing the dust away from you. One of the main causes of lung problems with nappers is the dust. In the old days of flintlock firearms, the nappers lived very short lives because of breathing the dust. Having said that, it's still pretty cool. I've carved a lot of wood and beat on some rock, but i never tried carving on one. Might give it a try. Just remember, DON'T BREATH IN THE DUST.

    • @BoomCreateTV
      @BoomCreateTV  Před 4 lety

      Totally. You'll notice that at one point I got a little smarter and had a vacuum running right next to the work. It helped so I wasn't breathing it, and got the dust out of the way so I could see the work.

    Hey! So I live in a military barracks and I'm not allowed to have plug in tools like this inside. I was wondering if I could use a battery powered dremel for this? And if I did get a battery powered dremel from like amazon or something do you think I could bring it to the river with me where I find all my cool rocks and just sit there in the dirt and carve them in the water? I see a lot of people using a water source for their carvings so it doesn't crack from the heat and vibrations. I need som advice please! Like I said, I can't have any tools in my barracks. I just love fishing and I find cool rocks on my adventures.

    • @BoomCreateTV
      @BoomCreateTV  Před 3 lety

      I think the biggest limit there would be battery life. But it should work as long as you have charge. I should have used a water source, so I ended up wearing down my bits too fast. Start with the cheap ones to get used to it.

    Hello!! I have a huge question and for this... I need help!!
    I bought a dremel sometime ago... And its been good... But at the sametime annoying... Which is frustrating cause I can not enjoy the process...
    I do not know what I am doing wrong or if its the tool its self...
    Reason why I am taking the liberty to ask a few questions.
    Is there a reason why a bit will loosen up and move from the position it was needed? (Even when I tighten it up hard?) This is the main one.
    I use water to prevent the bits to over heat (that is good right?)
    I need help to identify the right bit for the right rock type... Cause I would see videos and for me I have the right bit... But then when Ive tried them out... It does not work. 😥
    I would appreciate the input...
    Thank you.

    • @BoomCreateTV
      @BoomCreateTV  Před 2 lety +1

      Awesome! Okay.
      1. bits will loosen up with vibration. Anything you can do to limit vibration will help, so lubrication, better tool or handpiece. But sometimes you can't get around it. and just have to tighten up once in a while.
      2. Yes. Use water to lubricate the tool and stone. It will save your tools. I learned this the hard way while making these videos.
      3. Rock type is all about preference. I'm no expert, so it's just about color for me. Make sure you are using diamond bits.
      Good luck!
