1 million views!!! I can’t believe it. I haven’t posted a video for a few years but this one keeps getting views. Thank you all for watching and for the kind words and support. God bless
What baitcaster is that?
And is their any one you'd suggest for a new bass fisher. Great vid thanks for explaining this rod style.
Ps I'm primarily a fly fisher, so fairly new to rod and reel types.
You should start posting again :)
You deserve it brother! Thanks for the help!
It's the best vid under the search ofc it's getting tons of views thank you for helping us all out with our baitcasters
Congratulations 🎉
this is proabably the best baitcatser totourial
+Omar keepin it real thanks for the compliment.
So now you need a spelling TUTORIAL
Please be respectful towards each other
Mister Ezlan he needs a tutorial on how to spell tutorial
Excuse me one baitreel gift plz
I rewatch this every year just as a reminder before I get out... I know it bit it's such a great refresher after a long cold winter.
I remember watching this video a few years back, I can honestly say this is the best explanation on how to use a baitcaster on the entire internet. 💯
I got my first baitcaster recently, I was a bit reluctant about my purchase since I've been using spinning gear also, but I'm really excited to use it after watching your tutorial, you're very clear and knowledgeable, thank you!
Just make sure you try to throw on land at home with a crapoy lure. Heavier lures are easier to throw at first I'd start with something at 1 Oz. Make sure you keep your thumb on the line at first everytime you cast and slowly start to let your thumb off you'll figure it out pretty quickly it took me 3 times at about 20 min each to get the hang of it basically
I got my first baitcaster not long ago. I couldn’t find a good video for so long I quit trying. I finally got up and decided I wanted to try it. I watched this video and it’s casting great!!! NO BIRDNESTS!!!! Thanks you so much!!
them birds nests are no joke 🤣🤣🤣🤣
7:48 I love how he said "I can cover more water with a baitcaster I think". Best line ever.
im 43 and just getting back into fishing. last time i owned a rod was 30 years ago at camp. lol trying to learn all i can want to get a boat and start the second half of my life, fishing and relaxing. thanks for the instruction.
hk93shooter Have fun!
I've been looking for a tutorial like this since like forever! I love how you explained everything sooo clearly! Thank you!
This was actually very helpful. I didn’t know what a lot of the parts were and you explained them very well! Thanks
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Going over the brakes, tension, etc has really helped me. I have to deal with nerve damage in both hands so it's been difficult using my baitcaster - I actually went back to spincast for a time.
You took me deep in details. I haven't used a bait caster and I already know how to use one. Thank you bro God bless
Best beginner video ever!! I was having trouble with the reel still spinning when the lure hit the water and I was getting really annoyed and wanted to go back to spinner. Great tips! Listen to this man
Bro, ive watched a million “how to’s” on baitcasters. You are THE ONLY ONE who explained “you want your spool to stop as soon as the bait hits the ground/water”. Thank You! Subscribed! 👍🏼💯
Excellent info! I just got my 1st bait caster. And have spent several hours watching videos on setting up & adjusting. Your video is the best. You explained everything plain and simple. Thanks so much!!
I just picked up a silver max today, watched your video and in six casts it was dialed in and casting like butter. Thank you for the intro to baitcasters it was extremely helpful.
This guy left out the whole thumbing of the spool. You dont need to set your tension so tight that it stops on the end of the cast. You use your thunb to slow it
@@ThatSB I have another video where I go into feathering.
This is such a helpful and well thought out video. You cover all of the questions I had and made it easy to understand for a total newbie. Thank you for this!
I just got a baitcaster and Ive watched a handful of videos to get started but yours was the most helpful. To actually go over every part of the reel and what it does and at what time in the cast is what has set this video apart. I hope all is going well and thank you again!
Wow just seeing this out of the box czcams.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.
Here in 2024 and this was super informative. Thank you very much bro. Cant wait to hit the water with my new baitcaster
Same for me to thanks man
Great video Bro!! Never before used a baitcaster and now I feel like this tutorial has given me the confidence to have a great day of fishing with my new lews.
Had so much trouble with bird nests. Thanks for this video. Very helpful.
This video is really what helped me reduce backlash. I was ready to return my new baitcaster, my first one, because of backlashing nearly everytime. It was the tip about the magnetic brakes that solved my issue. Thank you very much!
Just ordered my first one and I will certainly be referencing back to this video. Wasn’t aware how much was involved with it. Thanks for the tips.
G'day David, thanks for this excellent tutorial on bait casting. I've been really apprehensive about moving to this style of fishing for fear of the dreaded bird's nest. Your step by step explanation of both the reel components as well as the four techniques has really helped allay my fears. It's early morning here in Australia and I'm about to drive 80 miles to pick up my first bait caster rod, a Daiwa Heartland Rod XA701 MFB, 10 - 17 lb line rating which is a discontinued model but I got it for a song :-) well I did also have to throw in a few bucks cos my singing aint that great. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting my Daiwa Zillion reel from the states as you guys have some bargains going over there. I'll search out some of your other vids. Keep up the great work. regards from the land Down Under.
man this helped me out so much today for trout keep up the good work
Jesse Rowland baitcasting for trout? What were you throwing? Genuinely curious thanks
Greetings from Sweden.
Thank you! At last someone explaining it so that I can understand it!
Others talks about the baitcaster as if you know what each piece of the caster..
Duuuuude, you did well explaining. I’ve avoided using bait casters forever because I was so intimidated. I finally bought one and watched your tutorial which helped a ton. Thanks
Found this very helpful and your tips were very clear. Thanks!
+Garrett Hammond thanks for watching!
Great video. Very helpful thanks.
This is a no bs,straight to the point, helpful video! Ive been spinning for pike and only pike for the last 30years,im 37 now and thought id buy a small baitcaster just to try it and i had it set up within minutes of watching this, thanks alot and keep those lines tight! 👍
I watched this video and then picked up a bait caster set up. I came home and watched the video again. I set up the reel, and I am casting well. I am so glad you made this video. Super helpful, and you kept the concepts simple.
Thanks everyone for helping reach over 100k views on this video. I appreciate all of the likes and comments as well. Glad to know that this video has helped so many. Let me know if you have any questions.
Duuude thank you so much, your video has all the information we need(spinning reel freaks) lol seriously though man you knocked it out the park with this video.
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching!
thanks brother for sharing this video and info unfortunately I can't afford the expensive bait caster set up so I have my good ol Wal-Mart cheap spinning. Set up lol but this was informative and interesting to watch and a blessingcould you do a video on how to fish a spinner bait and whopper plopper thanks bro god bless I had a suggestion maybe before the end of your vids you could read a scripture or verse from the bible just a suggestion thanks for sharing god bless
You should check out KastKing. I’m a brand ambassador for them. They make quality products at low prices. Thanks for watching.
The Fishin' Pastor this is the best video on baitcasters it helped me a ton so thank you so much!! Just got a new Lews reel after using spinning gear for 3 years
10/10 i loved this and it helped me thanks.
Really good video. You are a great teacher. Took my bait cast out for the first time I now realize I didn't have it set up right. Thank you for the great information!!
Just got my first baitcaster(SilverMax), been fishing spin gear my whole life, video was very informative. Thanks for the knowledge
Opened my eyes. Bait caster. I've just seen the future. John Ness. FIFE. SCOTLAND.
This video will help me a ton thanks
Haven't fished with a baitcaster in about 25 yrs...so glad I watched your vid.
this video helped me so much. i've been using spinning reels my whole life and just got a baitcaster. cant wait to try
BEST video on baitcaster setup! I think the drag setting is overlooked. The drag is so the fish can run with your line and not break it. Some people allow the same max weight of the line, by putting a 10lb weight on the end on 10lb line and making sure drag occurs (line pulls out by fish) so you don't break it.
Yeah but you can only do that if you know exactly what lb. fish you're going to catch! lol. But good idea anyways!
I set my drag at a third of breaking strain of line I'm using. Rarely have to adjust it
that duck at the end stole the show!
I’m a fishing pastor, too. I’m pretty new to it after having used Zebcos as a kid and young man. So far I have spinning rods/reels. I’m getting a good feel for those and feel like I want to own a baitcaster soon. Maybe I’ll get one for Christmas and break it out in the Spring?
Your demo was great and I really appreciate it.
Here's a comment you could leave on the video:
Fantastic tutorial! This is easily one of the best baitcaster guides I've come across. I recently made the switch from spinning gear to a baitcaster, and while I was initially hesitant about the change, your clear and knowledgeable presentation has really boosted my confidence. Thanks for such a helpful video!
I'd been using one of those old Johnson enclosed reels for about 25 years, just press and hold the button, then release button at apex of cast. Done.
Sadly, it's a fairly light weight reel, and after moving to Washington state, I needed something more robust. I picked up a new Abu Garcia Silver Max (no user manual for some reason), got it spooled up with 20 lb line, and drove out to a local fishing spot. Bird's nest after bird's nest. I was pissed, and thought the reel had been improperly strung, so I drove it back to the store. Well, they undid the bird's nest in like a minute, and told me it was fine, that I wasn't casting right.
Gotta say, when they told me I wasn't casting right, I felt like grabbing their head and putting it through the display case. Over 25 years of fishing, with the accuracy of practically being able to bean a fish in the head at 50 yards, caught countless fish in the lakes of Wisconsin and Illinois, and they dare tell me I'm casting wrong?
Well, turns out these reels are COMPLETELY different, despite them calling my old reel a "baitcaster" (stupid term, because you cast bait/lures with every rod and reel), and all my years of experience meant diddly-squat with this new-fangled sci-fi reel from the future. I'm not even sure where you're supposed to grease these reels, or if you even have to like with the old ones.
So, I'm back to looking like a complete jackass newbie in front of the other anglers until I get this new reel figured out. Your video helped a lot; I had no idea that this thing had brakes or a tension knob. I recognized the star wheel and release button easily enough, but beyond that, you may as well have sat me into the cockpit of a space shuttle and said, "just land it," like I was expected to know what all the shit in front of me does. I do much better when people explain to me what's happening on a mechanical level, like give me the nitty-gritty overly-complex explanation. The more technical, the faster I learn and master something.
Great video, btw; WAY better than the useless lip service I hear in other videos so far. One dude's just like, "you just cast it, but feather the spool." How does that make sense to anyone who hasn't already figured it out? Whereas you spoke well and actually explained the components of the reel. That helped a ton! Thank you!
Baitcasters are not new, and if you fished for 25 yrs and went to any bait shop on earth, you would know this.
This helped me out a lot thanks buddy!!
+Justin Brabham I'm glad it helped you.
New to bait casting, thanks much for the tutorial on the reel. Now I finally get it.
thank you so much i went out and got a baitcaster for the new season today, and I had no idea what i was doing when I got to the creek.
Thanks for the tips. I just bought my first one and found this very helpful. I will post up a video of me using it for the first time pretty soon, so please check it out and point out my flaws.
+Project IB you're welcome. Let me know when you post a vid.
Who else is watching this in 2023 trying to learn more about fishing and bait casters?
2024 watching this now 😭
@@jamesyoung3760 😂😂😂 better late than never!
2024 says hello 😀😂
2024 😂
2024!! Lol
I knew nothing about baitcasting .. now I do thanks ! Will go buy one now and learn as I go.
I just got my first bait caster and I watched some other videos and it seemed so complicated but you just made it so simple. Thx. Great video
Great vid.. Thanks for the tips..
Señor!!
I’m a veteran of the bait caster and you did a very good job explaining
Thank you
thank you very much for the easy tutorial. So many people just want to talk about how much they know about fishing, but you sir, you truly helped a new bait caster angler!
This is seriously the first explanation on any video who explains that the spool brake is for the beginning and the other brake for at the ends of your throws. Like this you know finally what you are doing there not just playing around. Well done !!!! Thanks a lot. Very very helpful! ☺️🙏🏻
I just got a baitcaster for christmas and i don’t know how to use it
same
5:05 that blowup in the background lol
Thanks for the tips, I have struggled using a baitcaster for a fair while but your tips and suggestions really helped me. I have looked at other videos but yours is by far the best for a novice baitcaster user. Thanks very much
Wow thanks so much for this video. I bought a baitcaster and rod combo back in 2014 and I've been telling myself Id learn how to use it for the last 6 years but it has just sat in my room untouched.
Im excited to finally start using it!
Monofilament, braided, fluorocarbon.straightbraided, colored-strings etc... What do they all mean? Can you do a breakdown of what they all mean and do? 😬
+Sylvia Catalano that's a great idea. Keep an eye out for it.
Before I never hadn’t gotten a fish with one
I just got a new baitcaster. I haven't been fishing in over 20yrs and forgot how these work. You did an excellent job of explaining.
To the Fishin’ Pastor. Thanks, at last, an experienced tutor who admits to he still suffers with bird’s nests with baitcasters. Great tutorial. I will keep watching. Cheers
Sorry dude, I spoiled your 777 subscribers number streak
I'm the 778th
+Sean Lew haha! I'm totally ok with that. Welcome to my channel.
I'm confused about the tension part. When I click release, lure still falls. What could be the problem?
+Knowledge Gaming even when the tension is all the way up?
The Fishin' Pastor Wait, sorry! I meant it won't fall, even when i keep slowly turning it, it stays.
+Knowledge Gaming it might be that the lure you're throwing is too light, the line is too heavy for the lure or your tension knob is defective.
The Fishin' Pastor That could explain it. I have a Medium-size spinnerbait with 12lb stren line. I'll try a heavier lure and if that doesn't work I'll look into the tension knob possibly being defective.
The line is thick, 0.33 mm.
absolutely the best explanation of the basics of adjusting a baitcaster.great work!!!
Thanks for the perfect video. It’s been nearly 20 years since I’ve had a bait caster and time to fish. Needed the advice to get the spool tension set up.
8:46 that’s what she said
Watching in 2024 trying to learn because all my friends who said they would help....didn't
I’m new to a bait casters and I loved how you explained everything it makes since now. (I know I’m late)
I just got a bait caster and wanted to return it so bad I got a lews tournament laser classic for 120 on sale and thought it was just horrible until I saw this video you helped me understand a lot of things I love you man.
Thank you very, very much for this very informative video. I always stayed far away from this type of reels because of the birds nests etc. Some weeks ago I bought a baitcaster to jigging rod and forgot that it could not be used with a "normal" spinning reel because of the little line guides. So I had to buy a reel for this rod, a Penn Squall 30 line winder, left hand, that´s on the way from Amazon now. I am living in Costa Rica and need this for boat fishing at the Pacific. Cannot wait to try it out. Thanks again man.
Great, great video. I watched this video late last year while doing research on baitcasters. It was so good that I looked you up again. I just recently got a Abu Garcia black max. Watching the vid has really helped me get prepared to use my new bc. Thanks a lot buddy!
Thanks for this video I use to be a avid fisherman and it's been 15 years since I really had and I forgot about some of the basics of these reels and I had just bought a new kvd100 series baitcaster and was fighting with birdnest and could remember some of the things that u just reminded of I appreciate it and I made a great instructional video
Thanks a lot man I grew up saltwater fishing only with big surf rods and what not using spinning reels and just recently started getting into freshwater fishing and my step dad gave me his abu Garcia bait caster lovely explanation
Thanks so much for the clear and complete education of the baitcaster. I now have the confidence to practice using my baitcaster that I’ve had for five years without using it. God bless!
Just got a Ozark Trail baitcaster. Excited to give it a try as I always used spincast. Your advice is greatly appreciated and informative. Will give me very much needed insight as a newbie. Thanks!
I have been fishing for over 10 years and just got my 1st bait Castor and this video is the best video I have watched on how to learn
Dude I know this video was made 6 years ago but you helped me so much I got my first ever bait caster and landed a 5 or 6 pound bass and after it wasn’t reeling in line you helped thanks
It’s about time someone made a video that explained everything. Thank you !!
I bought my first baitcaster today and your video was my first to watch about this new reel. Well done! I think I'll enjoy using my new reel!
Every other tutorial is complicated but yours is amazingly paced and now I know how to use me baitcaster
Thanks for the intro, just got my first baitcaster and your video helped explain the reel!
Thank you for this video!!! I was having so much trouble and very frustrated with my Lew's Mach 2, you saved my fishing day!!
Thank you for this it helped me a lot. I just got an Abu Garcia baitcasting combo and can't wait to try it.
You're way more clear than the last guy standing in tornado winds with a GoPro. Thanks bud.
I just came from that video lol
Hey man really appreciate the video, just bought my baitcaster the other day and I'm going out to give it a try this weekend, this video was very helpful. And has me feeling a lot better.
Just spooled up my first baitcaster today. Thank you for the help especially with the tension spool calibration!
Thank you for this. I inherited an old baitcaster and had never used one. This helped get me sorted before my first trip with it.
Just got my first baitcaster thank you man for sharing your knowledge with us
You sir are the man lol! I’ve always used the spinning rod and was confused as hell on the functions of the bait caster reel until I saw your video thank you!
Thanks for the tips, just got into baitcasters about a month ago and been loving them!
In a regular spinning reel user and i have a kastking royale that i havent really use for like 4-5yrs now. This explanation now gave me a bit of challenge and confidence using it. Thanks Pastor and God bless
Just bought a baitcaster and was looking for a video that would actually help me. So thank you. It was very helt
Got one today I have been looking for a video I ACTUALLY understand and this is it thank you
I got a baitcaster for my birthday and this video has helped me a lot. Thank you so much!
I was here a year ago and it really helped me to get learning on a baitcaster and now my dad wants to start so I am able to help with this video
You convinced me ! I'm going to buy one for the spring season...thanks for the down to earth help
This is the more plain and straightforward video on this topic. Thank you so much
