The ones that speak are better if you are arranging big pieces around in a room where you don't always have time to sit and look at a screen. Saying "left" or "right" helps with positioning tremendously.

brug my tops play the bass notes too. funny. i havent got them on a high pass as they are bookshelf speakers eventhough i have a sub my tops still can capture down to 30hz! so might as well use them

I had the same issue, and by intentionally switching the cables around on my audio system I can tell you that the "left drums" part of this test is simply quieter than the "right drums" part. If I play "left drums" through my right speaker it's still quiet.
