Hercules knocked it out of the park with this controller. The only gripe is that it doesn't unlock the pro version of Serato. For $700, I think Serato Pro should be unlocked.
Yeaaa, it’d be nice for sure. I luckily bought serato way back in like 2016.
If you were buying a £1000+ controller I would agree. However, Serato Pro is £250 which would effectively make the T7 £350 (convert $$$ if you're not in the UK).
@@alicksasylum I agree with you somewhat but being that you can get the flx6 with serato pro that kinda defeats your argument. I'd even say that the t7 is a better controller.
@@atypical_blk_guy Yes T7 is almost certainly a better controller. Hercules does not have the cash to throw in a free license.
LiftOFF, first off thank you! I’m brand new to the DJ world and brand new to the Inpulse T7, and I’ve searched through plenty of videos trying to understand the basics….but you were the only one to explain the basics and functionality in basic understandable terms. Seriously, it’s appreciated. The frustration of trying to simply figure out how to get a track started and get output through the software was a battle in itself, but playing with the fx and not knowing how to turn them back off was a headache. This video helped a lot! 🤜🏾 you gained a sub.
Man my boy appreciate all the info Definitely gonna be watching the scratch videos
Great review and nothing to fear about belt driven platters. The worlds very first active platters by Denon Dj in 2002 (DN-S5000) were belt driven without issue.
For anyone having backspin issues, cut out a circle using wax paper. That really helps them spin better, not as good as on a Rane One but way better than stock.
Perfect Review.. Thank u... I'm a Pioneer and Rane fan... But the way you broke it down.. put up a good sell for Hercules
Hi iv'e discovered a bug with the T7 / Serato can anyone else confirm this.
Switch off anti drift in serato dj software then load the same song in both decks my right deck's tempo become's way slower than the left & i have to increase the tempo to +5 percent to match the same song this doesn't happen in Virtual dj or Djuiced the fix is to leave anti drift on but then you encounter cue drift when you beat juggling iv'e created a ticket with the serato support team about this..
This looks quite dope, but I did watch another video of a complaint about the controller on how the platters are relatively stiff & wont let you backspin. Have you seen or had any issues with backspins or is there an backspin effect? Or just better off backspinning manually?
It’s not easy to backspin like other controllers you have to carry finger on the when doing it or use your software FX
One complain I hear about Hercules controllers all the time is that they don't last longer. I wonder if T7 is also the same or it's built to last longer. I really liked this controller but also scared to buy. And also I can't afford Rev 7 or Rane 1. But I like motorized platters.
Any advice?
How do I browse the library fast? The manual says to press Shift+the knob ut it doesn’t work, it remains still
Hmm I haven’t checked out that ability yet! Will have to check and see if that works for me!
Great review. Wonder why more controllers don’t have battle rev layout. This layout feels old school and outdated.
Appreciate you man 🙏🏾 - appreciate all the remixes too!
Yeah I feel you. I like the rev layout, but this feels pretty natural for me. Especially with the paddle FX.
Can you map it to make the parameter buttons act as Beat Jump?
That’s a good question! Not 100% sure with serato but will definitely follow up with you!
No aux in is an odd omission when alot of people use external sources for requests
Yeah, it would have been nice to have one. Can always use an external mixer!
thank you for the review. if you can pick between the t7 or rane 4 on year 2024 for advance amateur-intermediate dj, which one would you buy today?
Welcome! It’s a tough decision because it truly depends on the DJ style. I love the Rane 4 for mixing, it’s really fun to use. But I also scratch a lot so the T7 is much better in terms of scratching, and it also has nice mixing features as well. They’re both solid though! I see myself using both this year for sure.
@@DJLiftOFF appreciate you brother. i own a platinum fx and im keeping that rig forever.. 2024, for scratching purposes, rane one or t7?
Great video I noticed that on left top of the platter has a cut out I wonder if they going to make tone arms for it.
I have serato pro and it is updated but my platters don’t spin. Why?
How did the mic sound? Is it good enough to use without an external mixer?
Haven’t tested the quality out in the field yet but I’m really excited to! I would imagine it sounds good enough for sure. I won’t personally be expecting top tier, but I hope to use it with or without an external mixer.
Is it possible that the hole in the middle of the record will get bigger over time,if I scratch all the time?
with real records hapen, if that is vinyl it will do too, solve it with some tape in the hole
Thanks for the great review. I got few questions if you don’t mind Would you suggest this to a pro dj or is it more like a toy ? How are the xlr output and what about the sound quality ?
Is the belt drive really a big issue that people are complaining about? Im a dj from the turntable era and was thinking about getting back into it just for small gigs and been doing my homework about ddj controllers, I was thinking about the rev 1 until i saw the Hercules t7 because of the old school look 👍🏽please give me your honest opinion about the Hercules t7
If you backspin a lot and use it for transitioning heavily, the T7 might not be the “best” option. I really like the T7 because it has all the bells and whistles for a really affordable price and I enjoy scratching on it. I haven’t tested it out on a gig so I can’t comment on the audio output power, but as far as the controller, I like it. Of course there are more expensive controllers that provide a different feel, but there’s no way you’re getting a controller with such great features for anywhere near this price.
What do you mean by transitioning? And how is it as far as mixing and blending 🎵 I don't mind being able to scratch in a song but at my age of 52 I value a good mix more than a scratch 😅 let me know your advice on this matter 👍🏽 and how superior is the t7 over the rev1 and is the t7 pretty much a affordable rane 1😅would love to hear your thoughts on my comment 😀
great dj controller to dj beginner whos staring to learn how to scratch.
Hercules failed to add a booth output to this controller... Why?
@@DJLiftOFF dj lift off, if you were making a one time purchase to have for a long time would you choose the Hercules T7 or the rev 5?
maybe if it had a better crossfader, i know innofader was working with them for an replacement.....but then that raises the total cost.
The faders replacement is available from Innofader - $150. Still relatively cheap for what it can do compared to the Rane 1/Pioneer rev 7
Hercules also propose an add-on to replace the crossfader by a premium one for 79$ (called "Hercules DJControl Inpulse T7 Premium Fader Module")
What FX do u have that makes that beat jump, cutting in and out effect?
I’m not 100% if there’s a feature for beat jump! Will have to get back to you!
@@DJLiftOFF Oh I was talking about the FX u had at timestamp 8:04 in the video, which FX did u have selected in Serato?
Ohhh, got you. The transformer effect does the "beat jumping" type of effect, and I had the flanger, and one other effect which I think may have been reverb.@@Kyle-rk6ry
How does platter movement compare to the rev7?
A large part of that depends on the slip mats you decide to use but the Rev 7 feels less resistant and more free flowing. Almost a little too free flowing for me in the beginning but I got used to it. The thicker slipmat on the T7 actually feels really good and scratching with it is nice. There’s also an upgrade you can make with the crossfader which will make quick/precise scratching much better
the large part depend is that rev7 motor is direct drive, so more torque, less spin up time and less delay when you let go the disc from hand. Hercules is belt driven motor, so less torque and important delay for spin up.
@@dinosauriojacinto 💯💯
If you backspin a lot, the belt drive hinders that a tad. And absolutely correct on a tad longer start up time than a direct drive but the T7 starts up really quickly itself.
Thanks for these additional points.
I just peeped that it was a belt dive! That's is such a crazxy concept on a controller.
How do you move back and forward on a track?
Like on the Inpulse 500 there’s the pads you can use to go forward faster
@@albertozobbio4642 The "Parameter" buttons allows you to nudge the track forward or back to line it up. Slightly speed up or slow down.
When this is compatible with Djay Ai it’s a wrap!!
It’s now compatible! I use Djay Pro, so I’ve been browsing through compatible controllers. I was aiming towards a Rane One but I’d happily take this budget version of one. I hear complaints about belt driven jog wheels but I have nothing to compare it to personally. So that’s not an issue.
😎👍
hello how do you those colored vinyls to boost t7
I pre-ordered one but it keeps on changing dates, so it's going to be another one of those.... Lol
I know it’s highly anticipated aha! Glad you pre ordered tho. Keep me updated 🙏🏾
That’s not a plater that’s vinyl. The plater is under the slip mat
I’ve used turntables for over 20 years. I’ve never owned a controller. Is this worth getting?
If they brought price down to £500 be worth it.
Mine came yesterday, one of my fx levers were bent right out the box, this thing is like less than 10 pnds it’s honestly a toy that i cannot recommend it for pro/mobile uses. The hype on this thing has been ridiculous. For the price you pay It’s cheap for very good reason. I wanted to like it but gotta keep it 💯 strongly avoid it. Trust me!
Damn man, sorry to hear about the FX lever.
Also, I hear you. I haven’t tried it out in the field yet but I want to so I can test the audio output directly from the controller.
For the price, it does everything and more any other controller in its price range can do. It’s almost double the price to get the same features. But depending on the DJ, I can see it being great for some, while others may want the more expensive gear.
@@DJLiftOFF The hype around the reviews on this thing are to the roof. It “looks” cool but looks can be deceiving and it is nowhere near close to a back up unit to my Rev 7 which is what I originally intended it for. And mine got shipped with the thick slipmats i never got the thinner ones like in many reviews I’ve seen. After dropping the cash to put Innofader in you’re better off just getting the Rev 5. Even though I’m not a fan of mechanical platters the Rev 5 is def a more robust option.
fanno schifo! ne ho presi e restituidi 2 perchè fanno pietà!
@@DJLiftOFF are you serious when you say this confroller is good? i've buy 2... both returned!!!!!!
@@gianfranco1104 the only issue with it for me is that I can’t backspin.. do you just not like it or were there issues with it?
Its trash took mine back
@@DJLiftOFF backspin ..no reverse faders sound quality..I came from the Numark 3 and Rane One ..wasnt feeling it but for those that like it different strokes for different folks
"Nudge" (Parameter button) to easily align songs without touching the decks not mentioned tho
Yup, great addition! Forgot to mention that but it’s super helpful to have 💯💯
