- Ludhiana is an old city. Before 1947 the population of this city was approximately 55-60 thousand. Hindu & Muslim communities both have a big bungalows in the old city areas.
The old buildings before 1947 are being demolished by new buyers and they are constructing commercial shops. In the old city, there are only some old buildings left before 1947.
Let us watch this video in which the Chhawni Mohalla before 1947 was a Muslim community area, but after partition, all Muslim houses were allotted to Hindu Sikh refugees.
At present time this area was again occupied by the Muslim community of UP Bihar migrant Hosiery labour.

Before 1947, this was not a desirable part of Ludhiana, because of its low lying location that was always flooded during rainy season. I do not remember ever visiting this part of Ludhiana when I was growing up from 1942 - 1956. It was predominantly Muslim area just like KHUD mohalla or Wakefield Gunj, etc. All rich people used to live around Chaura Bazar.
After 1947, there was no muslim left in Punjab except in Maler Kotla. All mosques were converted into Gurudwaras or residences. The latest transformation of mixed society (Muslim & Others) reflects the true image of united India and we should be proud of it.
It is interesting to note that there were no GUESS PAPERS for Matriculation Examinations before 1947; it started only after 1947. There was a great demand of such publications (sealed) during my student days in Ludhiana. All average and below average type students used to buy and depend on them. I could never afford to buy one nor did I need one.

Partition had dark sides. Many families sacrificed their belongings their neighborhood and busnisses. Yet we are not able to understood the pain of families. All humans should live with interfaith harmony and tolerate the beliefs and live like humanity demands it.
Believe me the non muslims living in Pakistan are having good time here and face no issues to practice their faith and i must appreciate the indian people who are living with interfaith harmony.
Lol that's why their population decreased drastically in last 75 yrs and Indian Muslim population increased to 14%..
