Hey guys today I'm doing a comparison of the LG 240hz OLED and the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8. I think these two are the best OLED monitors out right now and I really enjoy using them both. I decided to keep my LG just because I play a lot of Valorant and I really love the 16:9 Aspect ratio.

Which monitor are you keeping or buying? LG 240hz OLED or the Samsung OLED G8?
This is such a good time to be in the market for a new monitor, I am coming from an Asus PG279q that I got back in like 2018, so now I am looking at the alienware OLED, the LG 27 oled and the samsung Neo G7. Leaning more towards the alienware since its available and on sale in Canada.
Not sure about the samsung but for me I Have never used ultrawide, so I am worried about going 21:9 like with the alienware and how it will impact watching fullscreen videos. For example, if I just get blackbars on both sides then its comfortable to watch the videos in the middle, i hope it doesnt stretch to full the entire screen and ruin it.
Also, most people bitch about the matte screen and LG screen brightness - as an owner, is the brightness all that bad?
LG, I play in the dark :Dc
@@Shah456ful you get best of both worlds if you get the 21:9 some videos on netflix, hulu, and even youtube have 21:9 aspect ratios so you use the full screen. If the video is only made in 16:9 then the video will be in the middle and youll just have black bars. You'll get used to it really fast. The Matte screen of this monitor is not bad at all its still better than other monitors out there but I think the issue is people know what OLED looks like and they are thinking TV when they think of OLED. and OLED on. TV''s are really nice colors because its glossy.
@@BrianMads I appreciate the reply, thanks a lot Brian, loving your tech content keep up the good work! The bit about the black bars makes my decision to go with Alienware a lot easier. Now it is just a matter of going with the Gsync or Freesync version. I heard the latter has HDR issues that might be fixed via firmware supposedly.
@@Shah456ful if you play competitive video games the freesync version is better because it has less input lag and also 1 less fan
The video we were waiting for 🔥🔥
Hello! Great review! Got a question, I read a lot about color fringing on this monitor. Do you think it would it be wise for me to purchase it if I'm going to use it for desktop work like Microsoft Word and Software Programming? (Besides of gaming use of course) Is the issue noticeable? Or maybe I would be better off with an IPS ultrawide?
Hey there, I used this monitor for work. I use lots of word, excel and ppt and they don’t bother me. I would buy this if you get a really good deal on it.
Good analysis thank u very much
Thank you!
How do you play valorant on 21:9? Did you do the Nvidia trick in the control panel or do you just launch the game and its always like that? currently dont have a ultrawide anymore but im getting one very soon and people all complained that you have to do the resolution trick in the control panel before launching the game.
Did you also done it like that or is it always like that if you launch the game?
Edit: Nvm just completed watching it
Ok cool! If you have dual monitors you just send signal to the other monitor but don’t hit apply just switch over and it works
For the built in apps on the monitor, do the streaming shows/movies support HDR playback or does it just display in SDR?
I didn’t get to try it. But from what I recall it was just sdr
hi. Thanks for the review.🌹
Once you mentioned that the image sharpness on the LG it looks way sharper than the G8. How obvious is it and is it annoying? I asked this question because I currently have a Samsung 27 inch G7 1440p 240hz VA monitor and I am planning to buy Samsung G8 oled. Do you think this could be annoying and make me regret it? Also, until today, I didn't have a 219 monitor and I really don't know if upgrading from 169 to 219 is worth it because of the better image quality and oled features. Thanks
It’s not obvious and the g8 is a beautiful monitor. If you play games that support 21:9 without a doubt the g8 kills the lg monitor it’s just that more immersive. I’m building a sim racing rig and the g8 is perfect for it
Thank you, really great review.
I just want to ask about the burn in of the Samsung G8, a lot of youtubers are saying that with the desktop use.
Did you by any chance encounter any burn ins in the G8 ?
No burn in for mine! And i used it a lot
@@BrianMads Thank you
great review bud , subbed
Thank you!
Ordered a Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 after watching this video. Thank for sharing!
Very nice! It’s truly a great monitor
Great review! I like the idea of ultra wide for the seamless look over dual monitors. I primarily use web-based apps and MS office (lots of spreadsheets) and ps5 gaming. I was thinking LG ultrawide but you may have swung me over to Samsung. It's cheaper and has usb-c. Did you try things like Excell or Google sheets on the Samsung? Thoughts?
Yeah i didn’t show it but I work as a RM so I’m always in word and excel and outlook I split screen them all the time and it’s honestly the best experience.
@Brian Mads Awesome! You know my pain! Lol! I'm a property manager. Thanks again for the info!
How good is the HDR on the LG? I have never owned an HDR monitor before except the one I have on my 14 inch m1 mac pro. Personally I don't like ultrawide but I love the HDR on the mac (no idea if it's supposed to be good) so kinda want a monitor that can give me a similar experience on my desktop.
The HDR is really good actually it is bright enough. However if you can get the asus version of this monitor it’s even brighter!
what’s that keyboard cable, it’s just shape or does it have a purpose compared to standard usb-c cable?
its just a normal USB-C coiled Cable. look them up on amazon or glorious website. it doesnt have a purpose it just looks cool haha
Hello Brian,
Have you used PS5 on G8 OLED ?? Do we see black bars on the side ??
Sony has dropped an update for PS5. It now supports 1440p monitors and has VRR support too.... Please let me know your thoughts about PS5 gameplay on this monitor.
It will still have black bars because don’t only does 16:9 ratio
Does the 34 inch ultrawide require a really deep desk my desk space is 45 width and 30 depth thinking about getting the Alienware 34 inch qd oled thanks
Nope not really. Just think about a 27 inch monitor then just add a little bit on the side. Your desk is plenty. The depth of my desk is only 25
@@BrianMads thanks i needed to know that i was afraid of it being too big for my desk its going to be my first ultrawide monitor
@@MaxAndersonn yeah your desk is perfect! Have fun with it! Ultrawides are awesome
What are your settings for the monitor when gaming? And do you put the picture on gaming mode?
For the LG I keep it on gamer 1 and then I changed the warmness to C1. For the Samsung I didn’t touch anything it’s on game mode and standard
@@BrianMads did you turn hdr on? I noticed in my windows settings it is off. I own the g8
@@JoeNoBuddy yeah I have auto hdr on for windows 11
Can anyone tell me what the height of the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 stand is? Measured from desk to top of stand (don't include screen). I cannot find that info anywhere.

Hi 👋, thanks for the review. I’m currently struggling to choose between these two. I’m more a single player guy ( story games ) but I have never played on 21:9 . Currently I can get the lg for 800€ New and the Samsung or Alienware for 1100€ . Which one would you choose?
I currently have a QD Oled TV on my living room for the ps5 and QD Oled brightness is just something special. I’m just afraid that the LG is going to dim. 🙂
G8 or alienware for sure. If you’re mainly single player 21:9 is something else. And you won’t even notice the black bars much if you’re playing a game that doesn’t support 21:9
@@BrianMads what about g8 or the 45 inch ultrawide version of the LG?
@@xWHITExEAGLEx g8 the 45 lacks PPI unless you sit far
What u think about lg 45 oled monitor ? should i buy or wayt g9 too?:)
The ppi will be very low on the 45 oled. But a lot of people don’t mind it specially when they start playing games. So what I think is, if you work with a lot of text I wouldn’t get it. But if you just game then that would be an amazing monitor
hey, i got the lg27 oled but my hdr looks really bad. It looks washed out and blurry than sdr. What settings are using with hdr?
Hey do you have windows 10 or 11? If you have windows 11 just turn on auto hdr and there’s a way to calibrate hdr. If you have windows 10 I would leave it off until you start the game you’re about to play
@@BrianMads i have win 11 and i used the windows 11 hdr callibration. Still washed out? My c2 hdr looks great. Is your black level on high or low?
how do I get the soundbar to work with the optical cable and the lg 27 oled I plugged it in and there's no sound sorry for the question but I didn't know if theres something I need to turn on in windows
Once your sound bar is plugged in make sure you switch the windows sound to your lg monitor. Then use the remote of the lg to go to general then sound out. Switch it to optical Jack. hope that helps
@@BrianMads awesome thanks idk why I didn't think to use the lg remote lmao
I got the LG and love it, it took me a few days to find the perfect tweaks for my settings but its great.
Pls let me know your settings!! Mine is coming next week

@@jarmobostrom3241 None and im about 600 hours in. At this point it maybe my least worry. This thing is amazing.
mind me asking what keyboard are u using?
Gmmk pro! With custom keycaps
should i turn the VRR on or off and why i am new in the game world please answer me
VRR should be on! So you can get gsync or freesync on your monitor
I got the lg connected to a soundbar . Loving it so far . Should I play my ps5 in 2k or upscale to 4k ? I don't really know much about that .
4K cause ps5 doesn’t do 1440p signals I believe. So the highest resolution possible! Make sure you have an hdmi 2.1 cable so you get max refresh rate on your ps5
@Brian Mads I can get 2k at 120fps as well as 4k at 120. I read somewhere that the latency is better if you run it at its native resolution , vs upscaling to 4k. There isn't a lot of info on it so I was just curious if anybody on here knew more on it . Thanks for the reply for sure
@@BrianMads ps5 has native 1440p support, they added it a while back.
Thanks
Thanks for your videos that make me love even more the Odyssey OLED G8, for be by far the best looking design right now. But I really hesitate to buy a samsung monitor again, as my current monitor (C27HG70QQU) was dead after 3 years only. I also heard about Samsung issues are common.
Was wondering what you think about that ? if you or anyone else have experienced any issue with Samsung ?
I actually like samsung! I had the 1440p 32inch G7 when it first came out and I gave it to my brother in law sometime last year and up to this day it runs really good! His wife works from home during the day and he plays video games at night and it’s still in great condition.
@@BrianMads yes it’s probably bad luck in my case. But as I also heard about Samsung reputation lately I’m hesitating buying a 1500€ monitor 😅 it looks so good though I think I’ll wait a bit as you said for the G9 or other monitors
Hi Brian, really interesting video!
How does these oled monitors perform when watching 24/30 FPS content, like movies and CZcams videos, in regards to motion? I heard that oled monitors stutters when showing low frame rate content, because of their super fast pixel response time :)
It looks good! I’ve never had that happen to me yet or experienced it. I’ll let you know if some of the videos I watch stutter. Everything feels normal.
@@BrianMads That is really comforting to hear, thanks!
I will get the LG C2 42 inch tomorrow, hoping it will be fine in regards to the motion :)
@@EternalLife91 oh that tv is the best! I had it for a monitor but it was too big for my desk. If I had a deeper desk I would have loved to keep it. I have the 75 inch c2 as a tv!
@@BrianMads That’s really cool. I bet the 75 inch is very immersive and cinematic!
How deep is your desk? Mine is 80 cm. Hoping it will be okay.
@@EternalLife91 80cm is great! i have a 61cm desk and it's passable if I push it to the very back but It's really my fault that I wanna be up close to my monitor when playing competitive games
Any chance you can do a test to see shadow detail?
Basically, any dark game (resident evil 2 remake jumps to mind, the early gas station).

What do you think about LG UltraGear 34GN850P-B, 34"?
Those are really good! However I wouldn’t buy one just because the dell 34

Price
I also had the G8 OLED, but I had a few problems with it, so I unfortunately returned the G8. My setup for testing was just like yours. I also had the G8 on firmware 1444 and put it up against my Gigabyte M32U 4K 144Hz FreeSync monitor. Fired both up with DisplayPort 1.4, duplicated screen, stood up on Dust2 with Desert Eagle in T-Spawn and shot into the air. I tried this with different settings and each time my M32U was faster in rendering the triggered shot. That kind of shocked me a bit. On paper, the OLED G8 is absolutely superior to my M32U. Something was wrong. I double checked that all settings were set correctly. I did the test with the 240fps 1080p camera from my iPhone 14 Pro and compared the images in slow motion.
Now what I also noticed in your video is that your LG OLED monitor triggers much earlier if my assumption is correct. I know it's a 30fps video, but that's exactly why you shouldn't notice such a big lead from the LG OLED monitor. I went frame by frame in your video and found that the LG OLED is faster than it should be, or the OLED G8 is slower than it should be. The 240Hz from the LG OLED is perceived as ghosting by your camera here and from 175hz to 240hz is not much of a jump anymore. Therefore, I can almost certainly say that your OLED G8 had input lag as well.
Funnily enough, I also track my CSGO performance. I am Global Elite in CSGO and my performance is about 1.41 rating constant. And that's extremely good, I'm almost always first on the scoreboard in any team. I don't want to flex but just to support my argument that my performance has dropped to 1.2 rating since I started using the OLED G8 monitor and my teammates also noticed that I got worse since I started using the OLED G8.
In summary, I find this extremely disappointing. The OLED G8 does so much right and has the specs I want to drive my PC with. 3440x1440@175Hz, 10-bit and HDR. Unfortunately, the Dell Alienware OLED cannot do that.
Could you maybe test it like I did and upload it as a short or answer me directly what your test results are?
Great write up man! For sure the lg is a better monitor for competitive gaming and with the firmware update of the LG it’s even better! I’ll do more tests soon
Hey neekzu I have the neo g8 which is a 32inch 4k monitor like m32u, how noticeable was coming down from 4k to 2k for you?
@@aditya7955 Giga noticeable. Like if I lost my glasses. It was horrible at first but got used to it. I am still very undecided what route to go. 4K 32" is very immersive. You don't make out the pixels. On 1440p 34" 21:9 you could legit count pixels.. The thing with 32" 16:9 for me is that it's too tall. Now the new Samsung G9 is coming soon with 8K4K resolution. Sounds promising but its the same size as 32" (31.5") 16:9 :S
@@Neekzu so no oled for me unless a 4k option comes out🥲🥲. I can actually see a diff in my 27inch 4k vs 32inch 4k. But I like 32inch 4k due to immersiveness in games.
@@aditya7955 I feel you man :( I do Music & Video Production. I also do Photo & Design. But I also game at a very high competitive level. The perfect monitor for me would be
- OLED with 450 nits SDR brightness, 1000+ nits HDR brightness.
- Glossy
- 35" 5120x2160@240Hz 21:9 or wider.
- 100% color accurate in all aspects.
- Thunderbolt 4 Hub with USB 3.2 Hub and power.
- AC-In (internal PSU)
- No software or firmware bugs.. perfect input lag..
Does the monitor exist? No. Will it ever exist? Probably never lmao. Its so depressing
There is one kinda promising looking monitor coming out but no one knows when they will come out. We only know about the panel. Just google "OLED Monitors In 2023: The Current Market Status"

Thank you!
my LG Oled monitor makes a silent Buzzing noise as soon as I turn it on. Does your Monitor do the same? Can you hear a noise?
Nope! It just beeps then it’s on
I play world of Warcraft and like to dual monitor because of productivity. Do you think the LG is better for me. I have a Samsung g8 odyssey now and I feel like my eyes are burning even with low brightness and being a good full arms length distance
Yeah if the Samsung is too bright for you then the LG is really good. If you can catch the LG cheap then it’s a great deal and which you might since the 2024 monitors are about to come out. If you need a little more brightness in sdr then the Asus version is better than the LG
I think I like the LG better. It seems a bit more natural on colors.
For sure! I love the LG
I just ordered the Samsung G8, I am wondering which Micro HDMI to HDMi 2.1 cable to buy from amazon which supports 4K@120hz. Which adapter did you buy? Can you share the link of the product? Does it support 4k@120hz?
I commented on your other post
what game are you playing in brightness section?
Remnant of Ashes. It’s a good game it’s usually on sale
Works Gsync on the Samsung Monitor?
Yeah! This is gsync compatible
How do you connect a 4090 3 x DisplayPort 1.4 DSC 1 x HDMI 2.1 with the G8 175hz. All kabels or adapter (usb-c to displayport or mini-dp to dp 1.4) are max 8k@60hz or 4k@144hz. This means you are loosing refreshrate no matter what?
Honestly it only had 1 dp input. So if I were you I’d just get a splitter
The mini hdmi is hdmi2.1, if you have a 2k 144hz mini hdmi 2.1 rated cable, it should STILL do 2k 175hz. It just doesn't say it because it isn't the common hz everyone uses. The data transmission rates 100% support it.
Great video! I wish they just created a flat, 29-30 inch OLED monitor.
Yes! I’m hoping 30-32 that would be ideal for me too
thank you very much! i enjoyed a lot just by listening your user experience with the monitors
Qd-oled all day long. The second generation of qd-oled panels will destroy everyone - hdr true black 500, less agressive abl, 300-320 brightness and 240 refresh rate! I have seen few reviews of s95c that uses 2nd genetaion qd-oled panel - and i cant wait to see in on a monitor.
Oh man that’s truly exciting! I’m hoping the g9 would be the second gen qd oled cause that wound be insane. Or they need to make a g7 qd oled that’s 32
@@BrianMads well, tbh i was hoping for the aw3423 (24?) update with qd-oleds 2nd gen panels in 2023 - but on yesterday presentation the alienware did annonce nothing - only 500hz stupid tn monitor-panel, which noone cares about. msi project 49 is 100% using 2nd gen qd-oleds panels, but they seems strugling (and failing) very hard to get this monitor to the market...for whatever reason.. ?? There is a philips 34 qd-oled monitor on the market - but it is terrible. guess samsungs 49 inch and probably 34 inch (g8 v.2?)monitors will be the only one with 2nd generation qd-oleds panels this year, and this is bad.
@@ALFGamingTV ah dang! To be honest with you if you don’t really care about oleds mini led is sick! I bought a mini led tv and blacks are actually black
@@ALFGamingTV 2nd generation quantum dot panels are difficult to be widespread immediately and why are you waiting so long. The difference between the 2nd generation and the 1st generation is that the 2nd generation is 2000 nits brightness. 1000 nits brightness is quite enough for the computer.
Such an amazing features they have, but I prefer LG 🥰 Thanks for the comparison.
Very sceptic about the review and color talk because neither seem to be calibrated to d-65 white point?
The G8 colors look nice but I’m still quite wary of QD-OLED’s longevity and lifespan as we are still quite early in its product life. Additionally, I’m seeing some people reporting issues on Samsung’s S95B QD-OLED TVs so there’s that. I’ll probably go for the LG for now due to their more mature OLED Tech. I don’t really wanna get caught with a sudden paper weight 2 years down the line given how much these things cost.
I actually really like the LG so I'm happy with it. I think I saw the Asus version for sale. Might be worth looking
Dunno how many years of warranty Samsung offers, but Alienware gives 3 years against burn-in, so there's that.
3 years warranty on the Samsung, 2 years warranty on the Samsung
LG had natural colors
I don't trust Samsung as far as I can throw them, so I'm waiting a few years before jumping on the QD-OLED bandwagon.
When does the G9 come out?
They said sometime this year. Samsung was slow to release this g8 oled but the others were released super fast. I'm hoping Q3 or Q4 we should have it.
I bought the LG 240hz and i used to play on an asus 1080p 360hz monitor, while I disliked the brightness initially I have been trying to tweak the settings on and off to the point where i almost felt like returning the monitor and being that Valorant is my main game as well, I wanted more vibrant brighter colors, which I don't know what the best settings are still but I use FPS mode at 100 brightness and 75 contrast and I've tried using gamer 1 mode and tweaking settings but have yet to achieve anything better than fps mode. I do love that theres literally no ghosting in motion and the quality of everything is just amazing, I just feel like I havn't fully optimized my settings, feels as if the monitor is like almost close to being perfect.
Just play valorant in hdr and you’ll be happy
Do you perform better than your previous 360hz monitor?
I’ve never had a new 360hz monitor. It was a long time ago I had a 360hz and yes i perform the best with the LG 240hz with valorant hdr and gamer 1 since DAS is on which means low input lag
@@glitchinthematrix9306 I do perform better with the 240hz but I think its mostly the response time and the smoothness of it all and near zero blur and all the clarity this oled brings. Is it something like OMG SELL YOUR MONITOR AND BUY THIS because it will make you a god? no I think its definitely a step in the right direction for monitors and I think its close to perfect, the next generation of these monitors will definitely be an amazing upgrade from older ips/tn panels I feel like
@@BrianMads DAS is on with FPS mode too, I just can't make the game vibrant or pop out enough if I don't use FPS mode, with Gamer1 it just seems a tiny bit more lifeless/dull but i have yet to try HDR mode I'll try it now

Hi Brian, how are you and what did you have for breakfast today?
Just got this monitor. Looks and feels amazing once you tweak the settings to your liking. BUT I'm having 1 issue and it's a big issue. I'm using the Display Port. I'm playing a game at 2560x1440, which is 16:9. And it's stretching the picture to 21:9. I DON'T want the picture stretched. I want the original aspect ratio. NOT stretched. When I go to the settings, the "Fit to Screen" option is LOCKED to ON. How do I turn this off? I need to get this turned off. Because it's ruining my gaming experience. If I want to play a 16:9 game on my PC, I shouldn't be forced to play stretched to 21:9 distorting the picture.
I have the Alienware AW3423AWF and it's not an issue on that monitor. Able to play 16:9 with no issues. So it's an issue specifically with the G8.
That’s really weird! Check your gpu settings on the control panel it might be there
I would buy both, G8 about 1000€ and LG about 750€, here on Spain.
So the clarity of the text is similar between LG and Samsung? I have heard that the LG is very bad and is not good for productivity
The Samsung should have better text because of the layout. But really it’s not bad!

@@BrianMads How does text look compared to 24 1080 on 34 1440p oled? Not asking if you have text shimmering, just overall the size of it and general experience while browsing the internet? Is it too small? How does websites look, does it look weird since I think most don't support uw so I guess the content is at the middle of the screeen. Like youtube for example. Thanks.
Text looks better on this compared to 24 1080 and you’ll adjust. It’s not really small it feels normal to me now. Just think of 34 inch 3440x1440 as a 27inch in monitor but add a couple inches to both sides. I don’t think consuming content is weird on this specially when watching CZcams. You get best of both worlds if the content you watch supports 21:9 then it’s great and if not the black bars on the right and left is completely black anyways
I have the Alienware 3423DW and a Samsung S95B 65".
Beautiful combo!
Name of the first game you're playing there
Valorant
Why is it so hard to ask for a 32" 2560x1440/oled/144hz panel?
The 32 4k 240hz OLED is about to come out. It’s much better cause of the higher ppi. I get it tho 32 1440p is nice cause it’s just like 1080p
I probably going to get the Lg to play ps5. Yeah I know I don’t take advantage of all the 240hz but all the others specs it’s amazing for playing fps games … 👊🏻
For sure! I love the lg
Song name ???
I think its called in the bag. It’s from epidemic sound
I'm pretty sure both of these panels are 10bit, at least the Samsung is for sure. They do accept 12bit input because the HDMI allows the bandwidth, but they can't show it.
Ok that makes sense cause really I tried them both and I can’t see the difference
only up to 120 hz 12 bit is supported
fairly sure the LG is 10bit 8+frc
Lets say you did not own one and they are the same price, which would you take? I am thorn between the 240 and 175 that is the only reason why I am hesitant haha
I would take the asus version of the oled monitor just because it increases in brightness and 240hz
@@BrianMads Thanks for the input. I was thinking the same. As of right now I have both in the house to try them, I manage to cop them at besbuy the LG for 760 and the c8 for 800, I am not sure whuch one to keep and put the geek squad protection plan on or keep both or just go asus haha..
@@donniedarko5529 I would honestly keep the g8 if you got it for 800.
@@BrianMads Yeah I think that might be the route to go, that or both. Yeap open box, low price because it was missing the display cables haha
Im debating to keep my asus rog Oled or buy the g8 oled idk idk 🤷🏻♂️
They are both really good. What about the new g9?
@@BrianMads wayyyyy out of my price range sadly lol
@@crism1912 ah yeah it’s super pricey! Could be an end game monitor too
@@BrianMads yeahh it’s beautiful dont get me wrong i seen so many reviews on it already im like “I NEED IT” buttttt also my gf wont allow me to pay that much on a monitor she said 1500 is my limit 😂
Time for new gf huh? Jk haha all jokes aside though appreciate your time & feedback & great videos! Keep doing what you’re doing 👍🏻
Do you notice text fingering at all ?
I’m not sensitive to it so I don’t notice it much. You’ll notice if you pixel peep
3:32 which game is it?
Remnant: from the ashes
Why picture on Samsung looks stretched horizontally?
Only for valorant cause it’s stretched resolution
@@BrianMads can't judge in this video, bit it also looks little stretched from 3:27, is it because of angle of lg monitor that it looks narrower!
@@suvobairagi6952 oh it’s because I duplicated the screen. I couldn’t have the same resolution for both so the one on the right is stretched out 2560x1440. If you watch the video before this it won’t look like that
@@BrianMads i see, got it. Thanks for clarification.
I went with G8
The Samsung is the clear winner I got mine for 900.
That’s a super good deal!
@@BrianMads glad to hear it was so worth it
wish someone would compare g8 to DWF
It’s pretty much the same monitor other than Samsung adding their eco system. They have the same hz and coating
LG have informed me that a firmware update for the LG 27GR95QE will be released in April 2023 to "maximize the panel brightness during gaming"
so apparently there should be a new update for the 27GR95QE, so if the update comes, will you make a video about it? source Monitors unboxed
Oh for sure! I’m currently out of the country but returning next week! So I’m hoping firmware is out by then
@@BrianMads UPDATE is LIVE now :D
Samsung monitor looks so much better. I have a g8 oled and a 360hz for csgo. After seeing this im happy with my choice
Yeah I rather have the oled than higher refresh rate Hahahah
idk man that red on the samsung looks soooo over done.
Really happy with my Alienware QD OLED
The alienware is really cool! It’s sick cause it doesn’t have the tv features
HAD both. Still have OLED G8. Need say no more.
G8 is really good to be honest. I had the alienware for the longest time.
Do you have any issues with Samsunng? Btw what setting can be changed via voice.
Lg for me
I returned the LG 27GR95QE-b because of artifacting at the top of the screen when doing HDR Local Dimming test, i was disappointed but. now i have the G8 but kinda miss the LG coz of 240hz and remote is easier to use than samsung g8. also Samsung OS is kinda slow.
Dang I’m sorry about the artifacting. Can you still return the g8? I saw that the asus version of the LG is now on sale. I saw them for sale at microcenter
@@BrianMads i will keep the G8 those are only little things that i dont like about it, but overall i love all the features of it.
@Brian Mads do you have a link? I did not see it on their website
bruh i was in a pitch dark room with the lg and it was still ridiculously dim
Really? Are you running with hdr on or off?
@@BrianMads tried both and sdr was better but not even by much tbh
i recently bought the LG 27' oled. Im quite disappointed really. Im used to my ipad pro and my macbook being so clear and bright that comparing it to this LG just makes it a lack luster. I wouldnt even suggest buying this tbh.
Make sure you update the firmware it helps with sdr
You forgot the most important, the burn in is not covered by LG, not sure about Samsung
The Samsung is Quantom Dot & runs much cooler, if I'm not mistaken, so less chance of burn in on QD the WO. And yes, the Samsung does cover burn in on the warranty. If you play anything other than comp games, you'll enjoy the g8 more. If you're JUST a hyper competitive gamer, the LG is probably a better fit. If you do both, the g8 seems dope enough since you can do a 16×9 ratio still
both
Hell yeah
@@BrianMads pre order G8 OLED LG is it tricky i cant no find in my coutry
Oh really? Where you at? I really think if you have a monitor right now just hold out for the g9 it’s gonna look soo good
@@BrianMads I ordered the G8 OLED and wanted to order the LG 27Gr95QE too, but unfortunately I'm very limited here from Austria and it's really difficult to get the LG
1440p on a 34 screen is bad. I have the that lg oled and graphics look as sharp as my 28' 4k monitor. Limit to 1440p should be 27'.
I love the LG but I heard the 4k 240hz 32 is about to come out
Everything on Samsung Looks purposely stretched to fit the display size u can see how slim or fat character are in both display.
Yeah! I stretched it just to fit the screen and some people like gaming in stretched when it’s competitive games
Samsung is so much oversaturated yikes
Yeah that’s what it looks like huh
You can simply calibrate it
Lg is so dim
@@jeremycole2869 play in hdr keep it in auto hdr
It's weird seeing how everything is stretched on the Samsung monitor.
That's the reason I returned the Alienware 3423. Ultra wide screen isn't for everybody
Yup. I have the G8 and it's stretching the 16:9 games to 21:9. I don't want the games stretched and when I try to turn OFF "Fit to Screen".. It's locked to ON and won't let me change it. 16:9 content should stay 16:9 and not automatically stretch and distort the image to 21:9. Anybody know how to fix this??
@@bL3dbL4kI don't have that issue at all. My 16:9 games stay 16:9
Stay away from LCD marketing! Remember, for 144Hz you need like 2-3ms with no overshoot, they pushing 360hz on 4ms panels! Just pick an OLED or limit to 144hz.
Can't afford either of them fuck!!!
I refuse to buy any monitor with a sh*tty matte finish 🤢
That’s fair! The colors on the Samsung was truly vibrant
12 битной матрицы не существует но автор даже этого не знает
Dont play valorant 16:9 on that g8. If you play a lot of games 16:9 you gonna end up with uniformitu issues. The pixels in the black bars will be off black. However the ones in the 16:9 wil degrade faster over time and cause uniformity issues or even look like burn in.
That actually makes sense lol
that's something I'm prepared to risk because I browse internet with the center of the screen, viewing videos, reading manga etc all on the center lol... also many indie games don't support ultrawide either so...
That’s not true
@@BrianMads that’s not true bro because it’s oled the back lights are completely off so how will it burn in it’s black out
@@Quay775 Please read the comment again. He is literally saying why it is gonna happen.
