- Hey everyone! Thanks for watching this video. I loved this train (as you can tell). I think I just like nesting. It felt like a big girl fort the whole time. It's definitely an experience I would recommend, but I definitely wouldn't book first or third class if you can manage to secure a sleeper second class ticket!

Yes!! This is the real taste of backpacker. 🙂
It's WAY BETTER than what we get in our country. This is LUXURY when you compare it to Indian Railways... We don't even have that door that keeps opening on its own, no one comes to make your bed or gives you any blankets.. No curtains nether... So better enjoy this trip...

I did this in 2005 and am kinda itching to do it again for nostalgic reasons (41 years old) lol
I also did 3rd class to chang Mai which was partially people/ life stock combined! 😂
We're planning on taking the train again from Chang Mai to Phuket later this year. Maybe we'll have to test out the third class for this authentic experience 😂

...nice video...was it possible to buy the bkk-surat thani ticket at the grand central train station? i'm hoping to go there in october. and what did you take going back to bkk?
I'm so sorry I missed your comment and it's taken me so long to reply! It was the BKK to Surat Thani ticket! We booked in on 12goAsia and they arrange the transfer from the Surat Thani train station to the Port to catch our ferry to Koh Samui. We didn't go back to bkk, we went to Koh Phangan, then to Khao Sok, then Phuket and flew out of Phuket. Have fun in Thailand next month!
How did you book the ticket?
We booked it on 12go.com! It’s great for booking any ticket you need in SE Asia but a little more expensive than booking right with the carrier
