It feels like AI watched seasons 1-3 got an idea of what the show was, and came up with this. That’s the only way I can make sense of the powers changing so drastically. Then there is the abundant use of guns rather than enemies with powers. Then there’s the fact that I went 8 years without hearing baby shark. Like not even once. And they played it 4 separate times on 3 different episodes

Five could never. Lila is like his little sister (even if it was really hard to buy him as an old man this season...) and he wouldnt just give up and betray his brother so quick. He spent decades in an apocalypse, doing everything to survive just to see his family again. Seven years? Pathetic

I also saw it coming but then i was like: no they wouldn't do that. and as time moved on in the montage and it got clearer and clearer, i held stronger and stronger to my denial coz Five is my favorite character and i just couldn't accept that he is gonna be ruined like that and then he was!
@@brigantiablackbird I agree two people trapped alone together are likely to develop some form of close attachment, however, the decision to make them be trapped for 7 years was solely for justification of the relationship. It was an excuse used by the writers so they could make this love triangle. It was so shockingly uninteresting and didn't add anything to the plot but needless drama and dysfunction with no resolution or purpose to any of the arcs or conflict.
They could have used that time to provide better and more complete character arcs which would better serve the message of overcoming your own selfish wants and obsessions in order to sacrifice yourself for the greater good.
Not only did I despise the Five/Lila pairing, but your idea for Lila and Diego in the time tunnel is soooo much better and I want that now.
It is! Like, Lila trying to go off herself to check out the timeline subway, Diego catching her and saying something like, ni uh, you’re not going alone, so they end up going together. So instead of Diego going with Luther to CIA quarters, Five goes with him because he was actually a bit suspicious of his boss, then they discover the CIA top members were also part of the keepers. During the whole show we’ve seen Five doing whatever it takes to solve the problem, so instead of trying luck in the timeline subway, it’d make more sense for him just to go straight to verify if his boss/job are also part of the problem.
I think that the family's WTF reaction to learning about 5 and lila was literally all of us.
Tbh I knew it was gonna happen in like the first episode they talked too each other in this season but I was mad about it but was hopeful they’d end up fixing later on until I realized we only got 6 episodes in my eyes this season never happened for the first time in my life I’ve hated something a final season so much I’d rather we had a cliffhanger if niggas don’t petition a season 5 I’m sending death threats to Netflix and the writers 😭

I cannot imaging having to do a kissing scenes with an actor I worked with as a CHILD when they are barely out of their teenaged years while I'm in my thirties. It was gross and added nothing meaningful to the plot that wasn't already accomplished by Diego being pissed about them keeping her involvement in the CIA a secret

To correct you a bit, Ritu met Aidan when he was 15 and they filmed that scene when he was 19. The worst part IMO is that I read the showrunner basically just wanted to do a storyline of Five having a (human) romantic relationship. So like, they just threw away two seasons of Lila/Diego buildup, just so Five can have a kiss??? Like not only does Five not need a romantic storyline IMO (not every character needs a romance, especially when the main component of the show is the family relationship) but if you so desperately want him to have a girlfriend or boyfriend, write him his own love interest. Don't just shove Lila at him! The Five and Lila dynamic was much more interesting as this frenemy/anatognistic/reluctant work partners.

It's especially odd considering that they were willing to chuck Jennifer in there for the plot/as Ben's love interest and give her basically zero development in the process. Like, okay, so you're happy for the one character to have a one-dimensional love interest who is herself underserved by the writing, but god forbid we give Five that treatment, let's just completely warp an existing character's story to pull her into his orbit instead.
I wish Dolores was mentioned more by Five, if she was his wife for a majority of his life in the first apocalypse, I would think he’d talk about her still. What would’ve been cool is if he met a real young Dolores with the subway plot. Now THAT would’ve been cool.
I haven't actually looked into it yet, but there's supposedly an article that states that even David Casteñeda (Diego) was pissed off about the direction that they went with Five and Lila, and even asked the showrunner if the cast really had to do it.

this paring grossed me out. apparently the creator wanted to give five a love story cause hes an adult now. as you said this was extremely out of character for five. he spent 30+ years in the apocalypse without any human interaction and you’re telling me he cant keep his hands off of his brothers wife? the mother of his nieces and nephews? i understand they got together because of circumstance, but the show did a bad job at portraying said circumstances. and the nerve five said he wanted to kill diego when five is the one who got with his wife…? it was so unnecessary and did nothing for the main plot. i really hate how some writers believe every character needs a love interest. plus five already had one.

The writers this season should be ashamed. The 5 and Lila thing was gross and weird. It added nothing, it actually made the ending hard to watch for no reason. And we can't take the actors out of it. Imagine if the genders were swapped and a guy well into his 30's was kissing on an actress that was on the show as a minor? Or imagine the same scene with 5 happened but he made out with other Ben or one of the grown male Sparrows, it would not only never fly, the show would be getting dragged in a different way, but because it's an older woman, they thought it would be fine and it was not at all, it was beyond uncomfortable and for what? So much of this season was pointless too. Jennifer did not need to exist, Ben should have actually interacted with the family, the squid monster could have just been from him alone considering his powers. They really had Klaus lose all character growth and then became trafficked into sex slavery while simultaneously removing his gayness, again, they knew they could get away with a woman "rhymes with graping him" IMO without people pointing out how screwed up and weird that story is for him to go out on. The writers... I would be ashamed, I would have had them remove my name from the credits behind this season.
Last season Allison used her powers to force Luther to make out with her and it never really gets brought up again. Disturbing trend from these writers
tbf to that one point Klaus is confirmed as pan not gay, but on every other point I totally agree, this season was so all over the place and none of the bad stuff that happened to the characters seemed to lead anywhere or achieve anything character wise, it just seemed like torture p0rn at this point.
@@t.tiredtypist9819 Regardless, in a season where all the other romances are straight, and so forced, it's not great to have Klaus do nothing but get forced to sleep with a woman multiple times. Especially for the final season, his biggest character story was the Dave thing, it's almost as bad as Sloane and Ray just not being present for me.
But that one is my opinion, I know that won't bother everyone, but it bothered me. It felt like he just got tortured and everyone got weirdly forced sexual interactions with women that added nothing, including the one that could have at least broken that pattern up so it wasn't so one sided.
@@mismismism oh no i totally agree with you on that one there. The whole Klaus subplot was very awkward and very uncomfortable, especially since it never led to anything and basically just seemed like he was getting tortured for no reason other then so they he wasn’t there for the main plot.

I will never forgive the writers for the insane amount of character assassination they did this season. Some things should simply stay headcanons. Five and Lila being canon is like a parallel timeline in itself because truly wtf how is that REAL
No man, You are so right! The writers and I also argue Steve Blackman did Five, Lila, and Diego so incredibly dirty. As someone who loves the show and the comics, it is so frustrating that they basically destroyed all of the character development of these 3 characters with this love triangle, only to give Five a love interest according to Blackman. It makes no sense that Five should have had a love interest especially when the only romantic relationship he has had was with a mannequin in his own mind during the orignal apocalypse. It is so out of character for all of them but especially for Five! If they wanted Five to have a relationship so bad, they should have bought Delores to life in the time reset at the end of season 3 or just had a whole new character. I honestly think this made how the show ended so much less impactful and it saddens me because the ending I was happy with but the sacrifice is overshadowed by what happened with Five, Lila, and Diego. Thanks TUA writers and showrunners, you screwed over my favorite character of all time!

What pissed me off is that the Lila Five story didnt have any impact in the overall bigger story
and on top of EVERYTHING else, he hid the notebook with instructions on how they can get back home from her for FIVE+ MONTHS?? That's five more months of her life taken away from her being with her children. Robbing her of that was so selfish, why would Five ever do that. The whole approach to this pairing was so weird, I can't believe people were paid money to write this.
The Five we know, the Five they got us to come to love and hold onto throughout the seasons, would've sooner gone back to Delores before considering messing in his siblings relationships like this.
Put 5 & Klaus stuck together. It's a good call-back to season 1 & they haven't got to hang-out together for a good while.
Really like the idea of Lila and Diego stuck in the train station. I would add sending 5 to search for them. Since time works different in the station he can spend months or years searching for them. Popping back and forth between the main timeline and the station. Gaining mastery of the station, meeting the council of 5s and planting the journal or instructions for Lila or Diego to find to return to the main timeline. You'd still have the plot point of 5 finding out the cleanse needs to take them all, and would heighten Lila and Diego having to decide to let the purge take them after they've spent 7 years repairing their relationship. Thoughts?
Steve Blackman, never ever looked up a shows writer/producer like this before, however this was so bad I wanted to see who wrote it. I will MAKE SURE I never watch a show he writes for again. I was that irritated with S4.

Aidan was actually 13 when he got casted for Five, and I believe he turned 14 during filming, and he was 15 when he first met Ritu (Lila) when she was 30, it's so fucked up.
Your TUA S4 reaction videos are so therapeutic. As a fan of the comics and someone who has followed the series for four years, I was so disappointed that the two lessons to take from the show were 1) adultery is cool as long as you wait long enough and 2) your choices mean nothing because your existence alone is damning enough to make all other pursuits pointless.

The storyline of the 2 CHARACTERS together I can definitely see the chemistry, but as actors it’s different, in the end, they are NOT their characters. You hear about girls who are technically of age being forced to kiss older men and they were uncomfortable but didn’t speak up. Aiden’s a guy, guys are often told by society “toughen up” “be a man” so to voice his uncomfortability (sp) would make him seem in his eyes like less of a man. It’s why we see less reports of SA of men, being reported. There’s this societal expectation of them.

I think its time to have a frank conversation about how this show wrote women for the entire run.
Last season then spent majority of their time demonising one of only 2 woman in the family. Presenting her flaws as evil and villainous whilst presenting the boys flaws as cute quirks.
And this season they the put the only other woman with a 19 year old boy that they had been desperately wanting to hook her up with for 2 seasons.
Thats so fucking weird.

Great video and analysis, I agree with most of the points. Although I don’t understand why no one talks about how abusive Lila is to Diego, and how gross that is. I get she was also traumatized, being raised by the handler, dead parents, and cruddy upbringing, but every season she has been in one way or another lying to Diego, manipulating him, degrading him by calling him names in front of their family and children. And we are just suppose to laugh it off? Yuck, no thank you. I like Diego too much to agree with the way writers wrote his love story. In season One, he was the to worry about his family, he had friends outside, he worked hard, and yeah part of his trauma was trying to still be a hero, be number one, and we were getting good story arcs out of it. But they ruined that.
Regarding their married life, something else no one brings up is that they are both bored and stuck. Their marriage is stressful and abusive, but even while Diego wants to go back to being a hero, he’s not the one infiltrating secret groups and lying about it. That’s Lila, whose going behind Diego’s back and wanting to recapture the thrill of the secret game, it’s her fault that they got stuck in those trains, and she didn’t give a single care to her children when she decided to pull Five into adventuring the trains. She only cared after she saw the consequences, and still cheated on Diego. Cheating is so gross and wrong, I hated those scenes so much I skipped over the whole Five/Lila scene. They try to frame it as if he never listened to her, as if Diego had been the one suffocating Lila with family pressure, but they lived with her family not his. This whole sub plot made absolutely no sense for Five as a character. The last thing he would do is betray his siblings, he would never hurt Diego like that. He spent 40 years in the apocalypse trying to find his way back to his family and the show writers want us to believe that he would throw everything away over a measly 7 years? All of the characters this season were absolutely ruined tbh but they massacred Five the most IMO

It's just really upsetting, uncalled for, awkward and very very weird. I won't speculate on the reason they went for this relationship that is so ooc and adds NOTHING to the plot, but the whole waiting for Aidan to be legal to write this bs is disturbing to say the least.
very disturbing; also to think that writers think that every viewer wants romance and sex to look at all the time. we also value platonic relationships and friendship. i was happy for 5 not having any romances. at least not forced
@@RobinLizac I'm aroace so i was happy to have a character that wasn't really interested in romance, it makes no sense to me for Five to both get distracted/give up on a mission, and abandon his family for his brother's wife after ALL he went through and sacrificed for them. I'd believe it if the writer said he hates Five, because it's the only logical explanation after what they did to him :/
@@King_Jonghyun Yes, I'm aroace too, so I got even more annoyed, most movies revolve around relationships and sex! Five was my favorite character, but they completely ruined him. It made no sense and added absolutely nothing to the story. Another scene that made me feel sick-but was completely overshadowed by what happened to Five-was Klaus getting possessed by a ghost and then having sex with a woman for money. That felt unnecessary and like rape, especially since he was imprisoned and forced to make money. Ieuw. Like an imprissond sex slave. Just ieuw.

It’s clearly portrait in prior seasons that 5 has had a whole love arc (yes it was with a mannequin) but he spent most of his young -adult life alone with her.
And 5’s is old and should KNOW better than to do what he did. And even if they had gotten close it could’ve been boiled down to literally what she said “just survival” cause humans do need companionship. So I get it, but I don’t get the “I love her” part
I will say, it DOES make sense for Five and Lila to be the ones to get on the train and get lost because of how they always are going on little adventures together, but the romance dynamic that developed was unnecessary and i feel like it couldve taken a better plot line. And honestly what made me the most upset about this plot line is how they both handled it qhen thwy came back. There was no REAL moment whne Diego and Five made up. Aswell as Fives charcter arch being VERY out of character for him he would never betray his brother like that!! I feel like its just a REALLY bad decision on the writers. Lets just all pretend that this season doesnt exist.......okay!

I do agree with you on the disparity of age. During an interview with the actress, Ritu Arya, had mentioned she spoke to the writers when they were filming that Five and her would have a romance back in Season 2.
OMG that's so disgusting. Honestly, they must have pressured Ritu and Aidan so hard to make that storyline happen, I feel so sorry for them both and especiallly Aidan.
Yes, thank you. I never thought of the incredibles comparison but it def makes sense n fits lila and diego. I do think Diego's plot with the CIA still fit perfectly for his character development because for the most part it was still him thinking of being hero to his when he didnt have his powers, and he gets his realization that the CIA agent life would pull him from his kids n he doesnt want that. The five and lila plot was totally unneeded for this season's main plot. if it wasnt in there it wouldnt have made a difference to the big story. it felt like a fandom wrote it for season 2 or 3 before lila and diego were settled. Like a writer just said "there have been many, we're stranded for so long lets sleep together plots, lets have the experienced time travelers do that this last season". And i, along with many fans ive seen, agree with how they threw away five's character after the whole series has been him doing whats best for the family only to have him do diego dirty like this? Im even more mad that he fought diego back in the finale like he almost didnt regret falling in love with lila.

This is fanservicey as hell but imagine Klaus and five getting stuck on the subway while Lila sticks with diego and fixes their marriage. Luther can be there too since he has a fun dynamic with diego, or he can be off somewhere feeling angst that hes a monkey man again. Klaus is just a damsel in distress during the season, so i think itd be great for his powers to be useful in the subway somehow. Klaus and five are my absolute favorites and itd be so fun to see their dynamic some more. This could also be the turning point for his personality; i hate how his ocd disappeared the second he got the marigold. There could also be some sorta drama with klaus wanting to find a timeline where dave is alive and five just wanting to get back home

Main reason why I can't continue with season 4. Five, a loving brother who was willing to go back in time and spent years of his life figuring out how to be with his family. The same Five who became an assassin for them, sacrificed so much for them, would not betray his brother for a girl who's parents he killed. Never. IF the showrunners wanted him to be in a relationship? Why can't they just make Dolores real. Or like the image of what he thought Dolores would've been. Someone close to his age and can understand his damage, a love he could've never had but now he can. Instead, they had him betray the one thing he fought for the most which was his sibling's happiness.

I hated this storyline so much. Not only that, their mission didn’t even go anywhere. Five could have been a good uncle and brother, comforting Lila by promising that he’ll get her home to her kids. Nah, he was the one who encouraged her to stop. And he’s supposed to be what, 70+ years old right? He should have been wiser than this. He’s had six years to find the life he missed.
I also hated the Klaus storyline. Literally did nothing for this tight season.
Since this season Ben played such a huge part, I wished they had focused on each sibling teaming up with Ben. There was so much story potential there, like Ben still being angry at the Umbrellas cause his life got wrecked when they arrived, the family he knew was gone, so much stuff.
It’s like Steve Blackman just went: Fuck it, it’s generous Netflix gave us one more season before canceling us, so whatever.

The fact that Five got lost with an actual woman instead of a mannequin, but nothing else. This season made me completely forget that Five killed Lila's parents, and that is the worst writing I've seen in a long time. It would have been at least okay if Lila and Five realized later that they were just really good friends that got confused, but them doubling down on the relationship when they got out just made it even worse. She doesn't even explicitly choose either one before they get erased, they end in a love triangle. Maybe they could have done this with Klaus and Lila, genuinely, because in-character it would make sense at least even if it would still suck in application. Just make a new character for FIVE! Hell! Make Five and Jennifer the couple and it would probably be good! Ben got shafted too, he got super plot-devicey.

They were stuck for seven years, as if that really matters seeing how she was with Diego for like 10 years they got married had two children, and we’re living together so her , throwing him to the side so carelessly was weird. It also would be so much more interesting if Five was lost alone and found some other version of some character we already knew/ a new character that he joins in their world when he gives up and then brings along.
(I also think the ending should've been saving Ben and killing Reggie and going back to the original timeline moving forward from there)

And I saw a Shorts where Ritu said she felt that the "twist" (i.e. them getting together) was set up from the very beginning, and when Aidan questioned her on it she was like "the writers know what they're doing" and I was like, GUUUUURL! 🤣🤣🤣
