You have to first understand what the one means. It's just meaning the first count or the first beat in a bar, right. So this is the top of the recording, this is where I would like to start from, right. So, okay. So what may aim is is to make a smooth transition on to incorporate a universal cut that most hip hop or R&B DJ's use as a transitional cut. This is called chirping, right. I'm going to chirp the next song, then I'm going to drop on the one, right. So the top of the recording or whatever you choose for the one-two beat, right. So you can listen to the recording, you can drop it from there if that's your one. The one can't just be from anywhere, it's what you start counting from, right. You're going to drop on the one, right. But I'm going to actually go to the top of the recording, all right. One. So that beat, that's the one. This track counting bars, three, four, five, two, three, four, six, two, three, four, seven, two, three, four, eight, twookay? I just dropped on the one. Focus when you're dropping on the one or you're transitioning with scratching or you're releasing on the one count, on that beat, that first beat is for it to be on time, that is the golden rule is make sure your release is on time. Make sure the transition is clean, and make sure that the transition makes sense because you don't want to just throw on anything.

To be honest your a DJ when you acquire the passion for the music and want to get involved. Don't believe all the hype believe in yourself.. I'll give you a gem here best lesson you'll learn have confidence in yourself DJing is just that if you tell yourself no or question yourself you'll have a rough mix but believe what your doing and you'll get better faster. your the only boundary to your progression. Good luck to you mate!

It can take years or it can take months.
Depends on you and how willing you are to stand in front of your tables.
You can teach techniques but you cant teach rhythm you have it or you don't but some ppl can learn it. But the biggest is the passion if you have it you will posses the skillz. Some want to look like a DJ and have the lifestyle and some do it for the music if you want to look like a dj it will take a long time but if you have the drive and passion it will happen

Very very key. Which a lot of people do not know how to do. When I was learning to beat match (no digital back then) sum times I thought my pitches were off. I'd spend five minutes fuking with the pitch control. When I probably had the pitches matched up cuz I wasn't dropping it on the beat properly.

how many bars are usually in a song? do you usually just count all the way up? i never counted beats like that before i guess i just estimated sometimes and sometimes the beat would be matching and then the other song would kick into i guess a chourus line beat and sometimes fuck up the mix or sometimes it would sound bad because i could never get it quite right on a song that has one snare hit followed by two on the next bar..or will starting frim the ONE always line up the beat on the money?
