The trick with the hat, was jimins idea. Jimin, was the one that did the pull shirt up,to show the abs, there is so many things when they started that was Jimin, iconic moves. Jimin was always muscular with a lot of control of his body, because he studied martial arts for years. He has a black belt in Taekwondo.

@@WE__BTS you are seriously overlooking his physical condition. I can think of dozens of instances where I can tell that beneath the jacket or the shirt he is highly muscled. There is a reason why he sleeps so often and so long. He is recovering from workout and practice muscle cell destruction. Do you remember his quads when he was chopping wood on In the SOOP? How about when they do sports or water games on Run BTS? Those are just some of the more obvious times. Did you ever see the brief video of him trying out flyboarding? The biggest evidence of his muscle condition is his style of dance, with its powerful dynamics and explosive starts and stops. (I have seen dancers say that stopping is harder than starting.) He has a gift for seeming to be smaller and more delicate than he actually is a lot of the time. Have you ever watched the Bangtan Bomb of the Perfect Man cover performance? It's worth a look if you have not seen it, it's titled Perfect Boys 2015. When they're practicing in the hall before the show he looks and sounds like a young kid, but when he's onstage he's a powerhouse. The transformation is amazing. That's more than strong core muscles. From a physical capabilities point of view, he's pretty magical. I remember one Run BTS episode where he carried Jin partway up a mountain trail on his back, and another where he lifted Jin away from where Jin was trying to steal his game pieces. I remember another where he deadlifted Tae from an athletic field and carried him to the sideline. I think by allowing himself to appear to be small, he deflects some of the intense gaze of the public, which must be pretty intimidating.

There is a video here on yt where professional trainers from a gym in South Korea where Idols and even celebrities usually train, they talked about Jimin's muscles and how even his back is made of strengthened muscles, a condition that not everyone achieves, In addition to them, they mention that most of the male gym users ask to be trained to obtain Jimin's body, which is strong and muscular but can look great in a suit without looking grotesque. Because let's not forget that he is also an icon in fashion, for his sculpted body and perfect proportions

No i mean it’s truly amazing if you look at jimin all smiling during the performance the energy and confidence he naturally shown is outstanding if you come to think about this very beginning debut era He is meant to be on stage born to be a star i aint even kidding. Having a baby face not as scary as the others even wore all the makeup and eyeliners kekeke but feels so right with the team and shining so bright as well on his own. I love this era of jimin just as much.
I admire and respect Jimin so much for having to deal with all the pressure of being the only one having to show his body at such a young age when he was just a teenager
Absolutely and the insecurity that was brought upon him from every corner when he was so perfect in every way.
But the fact that he had already been shirtless practically in his ballet showcase, he was not insecure about his body before, but when he became a trainee specially when he was a teenager when so many changes goes on in your body, and all of a sudden it's not your school peers who love you for your hardwork and good personality already, you have to take scrutiny of critics, public to convert them into fans, other peers who will do anything to bring you down to get ahead and of course internet.
He got through a lot and I admire him for it.
This is why i think Jimin changed the most in terms of styling. He used to always rock tank tops, snap backs, basketball shorts and timbs in their earlier days (2013-2015) then after that his style grew with him. He's more of a suits & coats, dress shoes, neutrals kind of guy now. It's quite interesting to see their fashion grow together with them and their music.
Here's info that some still aren't aware of:
❤️JIMIN, at age 11-12 started studying, performing, & competing (winning every competition), in hip hop, popping (excelled), & street dancing, while attending the renowned Just Dance Academy in Busan where he's from! He was so good that an instructor even had the high tuition fee waived at one point! This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy.
Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!!
So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! But Jimin was so good that he was assigned the official title of one of the two Main Dancers, as well as Lead Vocalist. Jimin was even assigned most of the high notes since the very beginning, because even without all that training in the beginning, he was that good, a natural born singer who, just like his dancing makes you feel every emotion and feeling he's trying to convey!
JIMIN, also, for 8 yrs, since a quite young boy, trained in various forms (4), of martial arts: Taekwondo (Blackbelt), Hapkido, Kumdo (Korean form of Kendo), & Chinese martial arts. He even won a scholarship, the only student to do so, to study more extensively in China for awhile! All the martial arts training has given JIMIN his phenomenal inner core strength, as well as his amazing flexibility, which has enabled Jimin to achieve all those breathtakingly spectacular gravity defying dance moves! JIMIN has found a way to incorporate all his various dance disciplines, as well as his extensive training in martial arts into his unique, ever so special, outstandingly amazing dancing abilities!!
JIMIN, has been called 'Stage Commander', known for his amazing, so mesmerizing stage presence. Each dance move is executed flawlessly, his extensions all the way to the fingertips, his lines so clean, his fluidity, his poise & elegance, his ever so graceful moves, but yet, sharp, quick & deliberate when required! He focuses on every detail! Known for his work ethics and being a perfectionist to a fault, spending hours in the practice room, will study every move, even focusing on hands to fingertips. Even his facial expressions, or the look in his eyes! Every single detail he focuses on. Jimin tends to take in the music and interprets all the emotion & feelings, whatever it's trying to convey through his body movements as well as his vocals.
JIMIN has now won the prestigious titles for 3 yrs in a row, for both KING OF KPOP, as well as also winning BEST TOP #1 DANCER IN KPOP, also 3 yrs in a row!! Jimin is also referred to as "Rookie's Bible" because all rookie idols, try to emulate & study every move he makes, trying to learn from him! Aside from all that Jimin has won other countless award, broken many records. His 5 solos have broken charting records worldwide, as well as being top seller, plus most listened to. Also breaking records for being #1 branding marketing idol, every single month for now, 3 yrs, a feat never achieved before, and still ongoing! The term the "Jimin Effect" is now in the Urban Dictionary! So much more as well but will stop here.

Jimin is my bias. Well hey they all wreck me. My first concert experience was opening night at SoFi. I cried during Black Swan too. First off it felt surreal after all the years of watching concert footage on CZcams, and always wondering what it would be like to be there in person. Black Swan Choreo is so graceful and beautiful that I couldn’t hold the tears back. I was there for the first two nights. I was lucky enough to see them again in Vegas upon which I was front row the third night and the fourth night I was parallel to the main stage by the trolleys! All 4 nights blew me away! Some of the best nights of my life!! 💜💜💜

20:27 actually Brooke it wasn't Jimin who wanted to be 'more masculine', it was the idol company BigHit who apointed him as the 'muscular' one in the group and also made him show his abs because initially he really didn't want to do it. But since he wanted to do his job perfectly he indeed worked extremely hard to maintain his well-defined abs at the time. Now thank goodness it is up to him what he shows or not.
Also about the 'accept himself' part, it's an interview that often gets misinterpreted, he wasn't talking about being masculine or not, but rather about him wanting the fans to only see a 'perfect' image of him, as opposed to just being himself and accept to show more of his 'flaws' (but off course to me he is absolutely perfect in every way actually!). I think his growth is amazing!
I remember Jimin saying he was so embarrassed/uncomfortable showing his body. This was an experimental stage for them and realized it's not it. They don't want to show their body for their music to be appreciated. I'm glad they stayed modest and at the same time show a bit of skin. Also glad, Big Hit respects their artists' choices.

Regarding the showing abs part ...in one of their recent interviews jimin mentioned how he was actually not that comfortable back then to show his abs and be recognised for that, like the guy who shows his abs

@@monika10yt I think she probably paraphrased what Jimin said. If I remember correctly, Jimin talked about he’s comfortable in his own skin now. Back then, he still explored his styles. Also, each of them was given a role to be in, so he had to play the part. I guess they have more say what they would like to do now VS. when they just debuted.

It wasn't that he was not willing to show abs, but the fact that he wont show for this moment when it was typecasted as 'Show your abs gain fans' moment.
We all know shirtless era started with Jin's bare back picture that was the least expected one since he is the most shy one for any skin show, and then followed by rest.
Jk of course has been the one showing his abs in fake love era, then boom since 2021 festa he sprouted into ' I don't give a f*ck' or what we might say 'so what' era , their iconic black suits , jikook looking delishhhh, then recently all the shirtless pictures coming in content 😂

To most dancers their body is a tool to showcase their art…their emotions, from tips of their hair to their toes. That’s one reason I guess Jimin didn’t feel shy much, though he did mention that he was uncomfortable initially when his company asked him to show abs. Jimin has been working hard for his passion (dance/vocals) and I respect that so much.
I love their growth but what,I feel, remained constant is their hardwork and wanting to better themselves as humans and their craft
About the boys shirtless/not shirtless status. So the boys started out being more typical idols only in the sense that they were also love interests for their fans, like all other idol groups at the time. You know, idols couldn’t date etc bc their companies didn’t want to disappoint or lose their fans. As time passed, BTS started saying that they were ARMYs’ friends instead. They’d even point out how the idea of them as fantasy lovers was unrealistic. So they didn’t want to be viewed as sex or love objects anymore, but as good friends who provide comfort for their fans. So they stopped showing their skin so much so as to not lead people on so to speak. Of course now Jimin and JK are letting it all hang out (YAY!!!!) but it’s bc they’re older and being their sexy selves rather than pushing the love interest, Kpop agenda. Hope this helps some.

I don't think BH or the guys ever revealed whether or not they had a dating ban after debut. But I do know they were advised by a senior (Jo Kwon from 2AM) to not date while they were trainees and it seems like they were separated by gender, from their lyrics in *A Typical Trainee's Christmas.* Not sure abt after debut tho.
@@em5522 Right. No one ever revealed if they were not allowed to date. I think Tae once said that they never were told they couldn’t date. Bang PD may have mentioned that too. At the same time when RM was interviewed in America, several times he said they were too busy to date. And there’s that one time he said in a joking deep voice “We’re focused on our careers.” Lol. I get the sense they’ve been encouraged to not let anyone know if they’re dating or not.

I can talk about Jimin, he didn’t exactly say “he wanted to be masculine”. Their concept here was “Sang Namja” which translates to manly man. They were all following a concept. Jimin wasn’t forcing himself to be anything but a concept, so he was doing his job on paper. He was also 17 a minor and talked about how their company first decided that they all will do the shirt lift. Then this was changed to Jimin only and he told them he didn’t want to do it and wasn’t comfortable. But the company said it was an order and he did his best to stay in such shape until he felt it wasn’t for him. For reference it’s talked about in Festa 2014 which is available on CZcams.
Edit: and Jimin has used shirt lifting as a part of his choreography in serendipity. He now does it when he wants rather than having a company tell him he will be fired if he didn’t show skin and restrict what he ate, worked out for hours daily to keep his job.

You’re right! I saw some documentary Jimin mentioned this too. He’s more comfortable in his own skin and be himself now. They were all assigned a role as part of BTS. For example: J-hope is sunshine. he sometime feels a lot of pressure being happy all the time even when he doesn’t feel like it.

Jin: 20 years old
Suga: 20 years old
J Hope: 19 years old
RM: 18 years old
Jimin: 17 years old

Another difference from 2013 to today is their ages. In the video their Korean age was used instead of international age. Jk debuted at 15 and Jimin was 17. So Jimin was "old enough" to show skin. Jk was just a baby of the group.

I looooooove their early stuff as much as the new. This is amazing. O love this Jimin, his voice!!! And they rehearsed for like 16 hours a day to prepare for their debut, that´s why it is as amazing as today. And as much as we all love to see those abs, I like the fact that they don´t need to show their bodies to be sooo sexy and so amazing. They just don´t need it and that is why it is so exciting when they have this few moments of showing just a little bit here and there.

I think it was more of preference, they all did not like showing off their skin, Jin felt uncomfortable about it. Jimin was chosen since he was built than, later enjoyed it hearing loud screams from fans. They felt low showing off their skins, felt as selling themself...I think that's what heard from one of their videos.
Didn't Jin cry at the time bc of a costume malfunction (not bc of showing his skin)? Was there another time he cried?
@@em5522 right, he didn't cry about showing off abs, he was uncomfortable about though. Pretty much all of them were. Jin ended crying after the showcase debut because his pants were falling down and felt he failed the team. It's on a bangtan bomb from back then. I don't think it's subtitled on the official channels but Bangtan Subs has it.

This is such an adorable reaction vid--I love it! Don't forget--the Korean age counting system adds 1-2 years onto their international ages. So in those debut videos from June of 2013 where they mention their ages in their introductions? By USA and international counting, JK was actually 15, Jimin and V were 17, RM was 18, JHope was 19, and Suga and Jin were 20.
LOL love ya’ll. I could be wrong, but I think Jimin started stressing over it and it became a matter of self love and mental health to back off from trying to look so good for the shirt lift and such so they backed off from doing it as much in part so there wouldn’t be this unhealthy pressure on him and the others…. Now they seem to do it as they feel moved to do so without pressure or expectation. There were times when ARMY would chat in the lives for him to show his abs and he would be like “no, no, no more abs,” they still add graphic stickers over their stomachs and chest at times during Bangtan bombs and such, I think just to make it less sexual when they are just chilling and eating or talking and such.
Yes, what you are saying is true. He (and actually other members too) did extreme things for being in shape that time.
yeah exactly that was one of the reasons but also now hes very comfortable in his body. for example in the recent online concerts and offline ones, his arms were as muscular as back then. im proud to see that he's now confident in his body without take external pressure. they've all grown a lot.
The only reason JIMIN was worried that people would refer to him as the guy with abs rather then for his talent, which was what happened in the beginning, but not too long afterwards, his vocals & dancing & stage presence was also noticed and appreciated. JIMIN always loved working ou, he even tried to get the other members into it, since JIMIN always had a quite muscular body even before signing with BigHit. JIMIN since a little boy, trained in various forms of martial arts (blackbelt in Taekwondo) which also helped keep his body in quite good shape as well as being a dancer all his like starting with hip hop at age 11 then going in yo contemporary. JIMIN was so comfortable and proud of his muscular body that even in Highschool he took off his shirt while performing TVXQ Mirotic at an Afterschool performance while in Highschool. JIMIN never had a problem showing of his body and was proud of his muscular body.
But you're right about the other members worried and feeling pressure to expose their abs, since unlike JIMIN they weren't as fond of going to the gym to make a point of building abs to show off. All members were quite releived when it was only JIMIN required to do so in No more Dream. But even RM kept talking about Jimin's muscular body when he first joined. Saying he had a 'manly' body with a baby face. Lol
Jimin can easily get his pre-debut and debut physics back from muscle memory. ❤.

Every era of BTS is precious to army no matter when u got into BTS n love them. Its hard, difficult n prejudice era for BTS since debut album with all those critisicm n backlash just bcs of the difference of definition between rapper n idols back in the days. Nowaday things changes for good, just feel uneasy seeing how BTS been through n how grateful i am to BTS n company back in the days make so much effort to endure all those pressure to make it work. At that tume, it might not be my cup of preference in term of music taste more up to ballad type. However, u can see there's fire of desire for dream pursue through the eyes to hit every moves in perfect spot with such power n momentum, sometimes i revise old BTS content, at one point i afraid they might hurt themselves yet they show us such overwhelming passion through performance which win ppl's attention n respect. Thats how youth of dream taste like with no fear. They r making strong statement which ppl might not so fancy abt it especially with their background etc.. still they deliver clear, powerful msg who bangtan boy is which later experience different transition to speak for who they r, not fear of losing anything despite showing different side of them, sharing all their changes with army from time to time.

I mean there have been many groups and solo artists who have come to Philly but I can't even travel there to see them either because I don't have money nor a travel buddy. I have an been stand alone kpop stan in my family but I do have cousins that live in New York who are kpop stans but I can't travel there either. So I am stuck either way!!

I am and will always be a fan of Prince (R.I.P.), I regret to my core not going to the concerts he was having for $25/seat because I didn't have any one to go with. Carry pepper spray and let your loved ones know where you are but I'm almost positive that there is ARMY around you who will become fast friends and will help keep you safe... maybe even caravan to a concert if need be. Search for a local fandom base near you...? There was sooo much positive energy when we stood in line for near 10 hours for merch; I did not feel any threat at all! Sure, BE SAFE, but stay positive and don't miss your opportunity to see them in concert - there is nothing like it!
Edit: And I believe the lowest ticket price for PTD - LA was less than $100, which in comparison to some others... is reasonable. I also know some reactors who received tickets from subscribers, then the reactor gifted tickets back to other subscribers. I sold (for cash value) my 2nd pair of tickets to my daughter's friend so that she could go with her Mom because she couldn't get tickets. ARMY is usually very generous, just keep an eye out and save as much as you can in prep for their next live on stage concerts... I know I am! Good luck!💜

This was so fun to watch!! Most tend to cringe at bts’ old stuff so it was so refreshing to see y’all enjoy and appreciate their roots.
About the showing skin thing!! Kpop has always had artists that like/don’t mind showing skin (Big Bang, 2pm, Rain, etc. and groups like monsta x, ateez, and stray kids now) so at the time this wasn’t something so unusual. Groups usually did this to grab attention (understandably) to attract fans/do fanservice and have a hyper-masculine image. However a lot of it was done at their companies urge. BTS was no different in this! Several of the members have never been very comfortable showing skin though. Specifically suga, jin, j-hope, and V (JK and RM in the past too) The original choreo in we are bulletproof pt.2 where they all show their abs shortly got scratched since not everyone was comfortable with it and didn’t like the exercise it took to keep the abs. As they grew as both a group and individuals they had more freedom over their image and (specifically jimin) realized they didn’t have to be so hyper-masculine. Since Jimin is a trained professional dancer he’s never had issues showing skin but these days uses it to tease instead of the blatant fanservice like before. Also Jk and Rm have become a lot more comfortable in their bodies so they don’t mind showing off now!!

BTS ages at debut ranged from 15 to 20 years of age (Western/International). A simplified explanation of the Korean age system is that you are counted as one-year-old when you are born, with another year added in January. BTS only got the show performance slot for their debut because another group canceled. Because BTS came from a small agency without pull and influence at the time? Some shows removed BTS from the lineup or didn't show their recorded performance on-air. BTS endured a great deal to reach where they are today.
